So fun fact, I actually was a part of the same branch of martial arts as Larry Tatum ( 12:17 ), while I didn’t work with Larry specifically, I can confirm that this did not save me from school bullies 🙃. The worst part, I had trained there for nearly 15 years. I was black belt. It was a humbling and scary experience losing a fight with so much experience and confidence. I also feel like a lot of the practices felt a bit cult like and in some instances unethical. I do however just feel it important to highlight that you should be really careful being too confident in your abilities. While I do recognise that picking the right place and genuinely building confidence walking down the street is awesome, if that confidence is false, then it can be incredibly dangerous!

Research the martial art and the specific gym before you join, are they process oriented? (Is everyone in a row doing the same thing, does being good at your martial art rely solely on form) Or is it results oriented (in place of showcases you have matches, is it utilized in MMA or Sambo, being good at your martial art relies on being good at fighting, are you winning or landing consistently in sparring, ect)

People seriously overestimate how efficient a strike to the balls is at getting people to completely give up hurting you. Shit hurts but you can fight past it most of the time. You need serious force to put someone out of commission like that, think of it like a liver shot, it's not the pain that makes them stop but if you hit with great force the body shuts down on its own. If you're in a rear naked choke you're not in the position to move as you please or generate great force to hurt someone.
@QuaversYT4 күн бұрын
People overestimate but it can still take out even trained fighters. It literally has the most amount of pain receptors, good enough hit will put any man down.
@billbill60944 күн бұрын
@QuaversYT I have experience in this area, most hits aren't good enough and if you don't know how to fight good luck just getting to the balls. A rear naked choke is not a submission that allows anyone the ability to just drop, turn, and arm smack your balls, and that arm smack isn't good enough to do more than annoy. That training they were doing was pure fantasy and I hate they were teaching their students to sink _into_ the choke. The reason all of them have a curriculum that is 80% ball-centric is they have nothing to offer their students in terms of fight ability. So they harp on the most obvious sensitive area of the body as if it's knowledge while playing on their student's ideas of common sense, and pretend that bad drilling sharpens the ball destroying skills. How To Fight For People Who Don't Want To Work And Don't Want To Be Challenged. Low blows aren't even that effective in combat sports, boxers call them out because the other guy is being unsportsmanlike and calling out that cheating gets you up on points, and believe boxers have ball destroying power. Thers was a time genitals were fair game in mma, but the guy who used them to such effect that they were banned would wrestle you, pin you, then reach into your shorts, grab hold and squeeze, not letting go until you tapped. The only time I've been dropped by having my little billbill hit was a blow that would've hurt bad by my standards no matter where it landed. It's again like the liver shot, hit my abdomen as much as you want but if you don't have the power to damage that liver it's just bruises, not a knockout.

Ironically, one of the earlier videos (second one) shows some wing chun which Bruce studied in when he grew up in Hong Kong. His friend Wong Sheun Leung used to fight street fights to test what worked and didn’t work from Wing Chun to make his own style. So did Bruce, who eventually came up with Jeet Kune Do, and included boxing techniques. But a lot of the techniques from Wing Chun were kept by Bruce such as the sticky hands technique and wooden dummy. Wing Chun was initially designed by a woman to fight larger foes, and doesn’t look so pretty, as its aim is to find the easiest and simple root to the target. There’s only 3 forms. If you want something practical and streetwise, learn Muay Thai or Jui jitsu. Those are the ones proven to work and toughen you up. The smartest move is always to avoid a fight altogethe, run, and not be a thug.

The finger guy was a high ranking Russian Special Forces operative. He killed a lot of people and saw a lot of combat when he was younger and leaner. You’re seeing him here in his older years, where he let himself go. The demonstrations you’re seeing him doing is purposefully over the top to make the mechanics of manipulating your opponents body obvious to the audience watching. When you see him actually sparring someone that isn’t there demonstrating, he’s usually very direct and hits people. In a soft demonstration like this, when he raises his hand and people freak out and move with it, it’s because they understand that if this wasn’t a demonstration, he would have clocked them in the face.

When the fight went to the ground, psycho dude, puts his right thumb into this dudes left eye, TO THE BASE OF THE THUMB, the now newly made pirate goes from punching the guy to trying to get this guys thumb out. Everybody freaked out, and started going after psycho to get him off, the dude. Always comes down to - It's not how the dog fights. But the fight in the dog.

having the routing is more about building muscle memory to use those moves in real situations. all those little arm movements and all that are designed to get you used to making motions similar to that so you can do it instantly without thinking. like fighting an elden ring boss. you try over and over and over, and finally get the muscle memory down to dodge attacks. you do it without thinking almost, which frees up mental bandwith to calcualate your next action based on what your opponent is doing so you could already be orienting your body to punch the moment you yank your wrist away, or get their arms off your neck if someone grabs you, and the muscle memory of yanking your wrist away, or the motion required to get someones hands off your neck is definitely at least loosely emulated in the motions the people in the dojo are doing @32:10 beyond that, the striking motions get you used to doing the punches. its all about learning muscle memory to free mental bandwith in order to think about your next move. serious high level martial artists do that type of stuff too.
