Chara is kind of a daemon that used to be a normal human in the world of undertale, i forgot what happened, but chara gets ill somehow and dies; and asriel, her friend, somehow gets injured and dies. Chara comes back to the mortal plain when you kill everyone including flowy, she gives you a choice, to delete the dimension and move on; but she still kills you with either choice and your character dies anyway.

He made one mistake in undertale. Chara is not evil. Chara is the real judge of your actions and they will only appear once you kill everyone. Chara isn’t the greatest person nor the worst person. They are neutral. Chara just do what they see is the best option for them and for everyone else. Chara will literally kill everyone just to show what YOU did is wrong and unacceptable. (Which they did just to teach you a lesson that you never deserve a happy ending after making such a gruesome ending for your own satisfaction.) That’s why (SPOILER!) They killed themselves. They sacrificed themselves to save the monster kind but sadly Asriel waste it because he was too kind.

If I’m not wrong there are four(?) Endings for the game depending on how you play might be more but they are called routes as well, there is Pacifist(Save everyone), true Pacifist(save all characters), neutral(kill some characters), then finally Genocide(Kill every remaining character), and fun fact(not really a spoiler) most of the monsters(except for the main 5 or 6) pop up like how Pokèmon pop up in tall grass(if understand the reference) Another fact(not spoiler) but depending on what system you have you can do different things on it(like special scenes, etc.) I do know there is one for Xbox and Switch but I am unsure about PS4/5. Also just general info: Chara and Frisk along with other characters do go by gender-neutral pronouns(They/them). More info: You’re going to get stuck(Most do) there are videos to help but you can keep trying if you want. Even more info(just something about what the guy in the video: Aside from those three characters, everyone else just gets a strange sense of deja vu upon meeting you in the second run. Characters will mention this sometimes. Also, there is a surprise thing that almost no one has gotten to as it only happens in 0.00001% of the runs I won’t spoil. And what else? Oh yeah! Only reason Chara would want to kill is because they were buried without their soul, causing them to be like Flowey. Without a soul, means without love. If you want to experience Undertale, play the game, and while you play the game DO NOT, AT ALL COSTS, LISTEN TO CHAT, idk them but it seems like they would love spoiling and backseating, and have wrong information on the game too, the best way to experience the game is just playing the game how you wanna play, after that you can try something else, that's all you need, and to know the full story of the game you need to do all 3 routes (the game has 96 endings, but 94 is summarized into 1), in one of those routes you need to read some missable dialogue that is hard to miss, and walk back to the beginning of the game, that's it for lore there's a huge missable thing, you would need a lore video for that
