Valve has finally opened up the CS2 beta to a lot more people which is awesome.
However, instead of giving access to someone like myself who’s been playing the series since I was cognisant, they are giving it to people who are literally live-streaming themselves using cheats.

The reason TF2 bots exist is because you can run the game as a headless client (basically instead of the game launching you get the game console and can run cheats like normal, but you remove the overhead of having to actually render the game, making it a lot less of a resource hog). There have been hacky ways in the past of forcing that in CS:GO, but for all intents and purposes that's not possible nowadays. People have written their own client implementations, although they are rather basic and usually just for boosting accounts. VAC is not getting in the way of this phenomenon at all.

Angry gamers ignore how this is a textbook case of a good beta. A beta is not for eager users to get early access to the product, but to find problems with it and fix it before making a GA release. By allowing cheaters they can identify these cheats earlier and develop detection or patches against them, keep it quiet, and then ban wave as soon as the product is released and a good deal of cheaters can be caught. From a product development perspective a cheater is more valuable than an enthusiastic player that has played the game for a decade.

@@ceadeusx as long as a user has direct hardware and software access you'll always have cheaters. thats why valve's approch was never to make a super aggressive kernal level anti cheat. they stated at GDC some years ago that its better to catch repeat offenders and make the game as frustating as possible to cheat in. an AI anti cheat trust factor and overwatch will go a long way in accomplishing this.

I believe that you are making it seem like a bigger issue than it actually is. I have played CSGO for 10 years and I am playing CS2 right now and I have only met a handful of cheaters and no cheaters so far in CS2. I have also played against actual cheaters with just wallhacks who tried to hide their cheats as humanly possible and I still won against them, because it is possible to beat them. They dont have any skill in particular games(and they got banned soon after). If you are truly afraid of playing against cheaters, maybe Faceit would be a preferable choice for you.

There are cheaters in faceit just as not as blatant, and if you must know I use to cheat before bought a oneday sub because I'm curious. So, from that experience till to this day. Yes there are a few morons who use cheats like bots. Those cheaters are recognized and banned easily. Take a look at how much money FPS cheat market makes. They can't make that much money if only handful of FPS players are cheaters. It's safe to assume close to half (or could be more than half) of CS2 players are cheating just like any other FPS games.

There have been even many instances where I was called a cheater coz my game sense was way above everyone elses in the match. Like you said, it is hard to distinguish a cheater or not. honestly, if you are streaming the cheats on a game beta, it's not really a bad thing. It's a warning for the devs to polish the anti cheat a bit further before release. plus it shows a realistic state of the game for players. again, this is all before release. Once the game releases, that's another story.

Once the game releases, nothing will change. people are still not getting the Valve way. Valve bans cheaters, cheaters buy new account and prime, even tho it's not the main source of money of the game (skins are first obviously) it's still an income. Unless they decide to move on with a new VAC system that is SAFE enough and scans drivers + processes. we'll live with cheaters, and Faceit will be the way to go as used to.

I think we're heavily overestimating the problem. We won't actually know what the scenario is until a week or two into full release and even then I've always seen that the community tends to keep screaming about the cheaters more than there are actually cheaters in games

If you can't block all cheaters the next best thing is to make them play in glorified HvH servers so that legit players barely ever face them, to which I think valve has done a good job in CSGO. the way we used to deal against hackers was to run our own servers and only pros would go there. Wed have a ranking system based on player stats and admins were live. I used to make regulars admins too but any who overstepped their boundaries would lose their admin rights.

Sometimes cheaters on Faceit get caught through reports and support tickets, as that can motivate staff to look through a player's ac logs or browse through their files for anything suspicious. It wouldn't be practical for Valve to allow players to file support tickets on players or call admins midgame, as there are simply too many matchmaking games happening at once. With that said, Faceit's AC is a lot more competent than VAC and the faceit behaviour index system does indicate that Faceit cares more about the user experience, not that it has prevented toxicity to that great of an extent, really.

It's a joke that we get clapped by players with lvl 1 accounts 50 hours in CSGO getting beta access using cheats. Plus there are performance issues, I have a pc with 7800x3d and 7900xtx and the game stutters ALOT and seems like the servers won't register some of the actions like movement and shots... CS2 is far away from a releasable state.

When you open the Premier global ranking within CS2 itself, you can see that there are several players at the top with 98% of win rate, which is impossible to win every match. I was watching pro players and even they lose several matches and I can't imagine anything other than these hackers at the top of the rankings. The funny thing is that these hackers who have 98% wins just don't have 100% because they must have lost to other hackers.

Well the game released, it lasted like 2-3 days without cheaters (more or less) and now 2 weeks later after release it's a complete nightmate. Can't even have a single game without cheaters, hell they're running around in deathmatch too getting like 50 kills in 2 minutes. So sad honestly.

yeah from what i've been toldl vac live was disabled or toned downed in the premier update as it was found to be giving out false bans for players abusing exploits and dev commands in the previous update. so right now its free reign to cheat until you get slapped with a manual ban i even had someone on my own team walling on mirage. (kinda threw the game on purpose so he didnt win). there will likely be a huge ban wave upon the official release. and of course CS2 is still missing all of csgo's hard coded anti cheat protections like not being able to fire an entire clip within a single tick and somehow kill every player within a single tick or the ability to have perfect aimbots. and of course desyncing your hit box. official release will likely clean all this up and vac-live will be turned back on.

I´m 49 years old and i´m done with the game now! I played many CS2 games the last 2 weeks and I´ve just won 7 games, because most of the games are cheaters playing against and with me. Every end of the month, Steam is collecting data from your PC, such as hardware and their addressing. If they have this information at hand, it's simple to directly ban the hardware. You'll have to buy a whole new hardware setup to avoid using hacks.

I love that you bring light to this topic but I don't think you got the facts straight. We don't know what the new VAC will or will not do, we only have limited string resources available and that's all there is to it. There's no "fact" about the new VAC, it's just what we assume we'll have. I'd personally be happy if KYC was introduced for CS2 and you could have a KYCed exclusive queue along with an intrusive A/C. I would literally dual-boot an OS for CS2 if that meant no cheaters would be against me in matches.

If you don't got prime you are basically gonna run into cheaters constantly. Me and my buddy would play wingmen and run into so many cheaters it's unreal. I have reported so many of them and yet they aren't banned. I hate it how they have such a ego.

I don't know how anti-cheating works in CS2, but even though PUBG gets a lot of hate for their anti-cheating as well, PUBG does have a very good manual system where if a guy gets 3+ reports he gets temporarily banned on the spot for everyone to see, and then later the devs looks at it, this way the whole server turns against the cheater on the spot and deals with it themselves. CS2 should definitely have a similar system especially in premier where it will be more reliable, meaning, if someone obviously is cheating then he really is gone on the spot. And for the cheaters who are more difficult to see there are always alternatives, such as a report of suspicion only, which will make a dev look at it further, or Valve can always create a screencap system that people can see live, like Punkbuster had back in the days in Counter-strike.

The issue is extremely severe and player are already actively leaving the game. It's unbareable to play this game on Valve server's. Sooo much games are suspicious and reporting does 00000000% and results in nothing... apart from the shitty sub-tick. If Valve doesn't fix, the game will be dead sooner than later.

VAC is a Hardware ban, but you can change your hardware ID by software or also by switching some components. for example if you are banned in your acc, valve saves all your hardware data. if you know create a new account and start playing csgo legitimately, your new account will also get banned, even though you havent cheated on the new one.

They removed the best anti cheat, over a decade ago..... Having player ran servers, whom ban cheaters. Around CS 1.6 and prior thats how you'd play, was no auto join button. This is the same for any long standing game really. Battlefield same thing.
