I really hope they implement a quick check-up animation that gives you a brief summary of your condition so you don't have to tab over a menu to check your wounds every time. How they've done this play test was unprecedented, the instant attack on issues that they had feedback is absurd, and brilliant it's almost like they've learnt from the pmcs that they've interviewed, in that they're taking a tactical militant approach to developing. Good is not good enough for them. And another thing, don't rush through life instant or fast gratification never gives you that rush that you get from long long long anticipation. This dev team seems like the genuinely care about their game and want the players to have the best experience. The game also seems well developed (from a coding standpoint).

I've always wondered if GZW would tackle the other sides of jungle warfare, the environment and the wildlife, from the sweltering humidity and thick foliage of the jungle to the numerous dangers that either see you as a threat or as a meal, from leeches, to mosquitos, to snakes, and to wild boars, from getting parasites as a debuff that drains your energy and hunger faster, from dealing with wound infection if you left it to fester for too long, the general idea is to portray a somewhat close example of jungle warfare, and why the hell is it so scary.

I appreciate the honestly from both yourself and the devs - it would be easy to pander or farm 'only good impressions' from both sides, but ultimately wouldn't serve the game or audience well in the long term. I'll say this, I wish that medical was a little different. Like instead of opening the menu to diagnose yourself, you pat yourself down. And arguably more importantly, I wish there was more to it than just clicking on an item to fix a problem. Feels too much like Tarkov that you can take a shot to the lung, then staple it back together and it's like nothing happened. Maybe more animations depending on injury location would make this feel better? I don't really know. But I think something with complex ballistics and organ hitbox systems deserves more.

You used to hear about devs using a few “average build” computers based on the most common part combinations revealed in things like the steam survey. You’ll see evidence of this when a game is listed as “having issue with ” but then forum searches reveal its only a specific generation of that brand’s parts. An exact 1:1 clone of a machine encountering hard errors is next level indeed.
@12stepsbeyondtheeventhorizon25 күн бұрын
@@piedpiper1172 so next level that it makes me wonder how true it is, especially considering the devs would've known that their game ran at 30fps on average configs...
@piedpiper117225 күн бұрын
@@12stepsbeyondtheeventhorizon 30fps is playable and kinda routine super early in a game’s development build. That’s close enough to 60+ that it’s well within reach for serious optimization. As a dev, I wouldn’t stress at all over the game running at 30fps on “average” builds in its current state. Not launching at all, however, would be deeply troubling, and could point to a much bigger problem. Honestly, I believe it. It’s too specific and unusual a thing to claim to do without actually doing it.
@12stepsbeyondtheeventhorizon25 күн бұрын
@@piedpiper1172 sure, not launching at all would be infinitely worse, no doubt about that. And I agree sub-optimal performance is expected in those early stages of development. The point I was trying to make is if I'm going to play a high stakes game like this one, I wouldn't play it at any FPS lower than my monitor's refresh rate, which is 144. Simple as that. Does that make me a performance elitist? Perhaps. But that's just me, I'm not forcing my ideas on anyone.

Human recognizion comes from familarity with a person they own body format and acts, in game is hard to reproduce acts, but cloths are easier. In life real time trackers exists, maybe when you open the map, that map pin your squad members was a cool stuff to have. Compass should be more like, wristle clock with compass are are really easy to read, not that shit EFT has, that is pure shit indeed, no one can read that easy, actually i just used that before know better wood, because how in earth i will remove my weapon to check directions and the compass has almost none direction at all, even my poor made chineses kid compass was better than that one LOL

Laos is a land locked country surrounded by and shares borders with Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma (Myanmar) and China. 3. Compared to its neighbours, Laos is under developed and has been historically at odds with said neighbours for various reasons over the last 100 years or so but has somehow managed to stay a sovereign country against all odds. 4. Laos was heavily involved during the Vietnam war and even had a "secret war" waged on them by the CIA during the many years of conflict. 5. Laos, while having a tenuous history with its neighbours, has a special bond with Cambodia and Thailand which all 3 countries sharing similar traditions, religions, cultures and even has a spoken and written language which is almost identical to Thailand. Edit: immersion is everything for me, so a difficult and versatile, complex ai is a major plus. Running and walking speed i would like the devs to experiment with, bc i know no game where i haven‘t thought in real you would be slower. Edit2: if there is a chance to support the devs by testing, tell me! I am definitely in! Edit3: i got that it is important so see this game as something new! I see a chance letting the devs develope something that is like it should be from ground up and not copying things just bc they are common. I would be amazed if this game wouldn‘t be „fun“ kind of as it gets so realistic it is really difficult to hit anything… everyone who shot a rifle in 7,62 knows its a thing to hit a spot on 200m while standing even with a scope.

Thank you for this video, I was interested in the game before but this was really eye opening and I'm not genuinely hyped for GZW. The impression that I got from your video was like if DayZ were a tactical shooter and it looks like I'm not the only one, and if that were done well then I think that would be an amazing game. It sounds like these devs are doing a really awesome job too

The only real nitpick that I have, based on the very little that I have seen, is that I wish low ready was more... *low* and less... *hipfire* As someone who uses a sling with my own AR, low ready for me is more like aiming directly at the ground, rather than half assedly hipfiring at the horzion
@riloegaming3 ай бұрын
The thing is, the camera is just a literal camera on the character’s eyes; the gun you see is the real in-game gun. This means that eventually, they could add adjustments to the ready positions easily

At this point..... im okay with a little delay to early access to get a fun product that's going to still improve along the way to its 1.0! I just wish they would bring the option to pre-order already. I would have no problem helping funding via preorder, and wait for the day early access comes out.

😎 Was a little disappointed in the dev's gameplay vid - made it look slow, clunky, etc. My gut instinct was to liken it to RoN in the jungle. Thank you, Riloe, for your in-depth analysis of GZW and showcasing its features, highlighting that it is its own game and we (read: I) need to be ok with that. Looking forward for what's to come!

Great Video as always Thank you. And oh yea cool 😎. On a Serious note tho i am one of the bit older generation and GZW also reminds me a bit of the Old " Delta Force " and Operation Flashpoint" Games. As well as those mentioned in the Video

As someone who really loved Ghost Recon Breakpoint(800 hours in) I've been itching for a more realistic open world exploratory shooter. I'll admit Breakpoint has a lot of it's flaws, but roaming the wilds and finding the depth to the world was absolutely a blast even for a game that definitely needed more working through. Seeing these folks put so much time and love into a dynamic like this makes me super happy to see because Breakpoint flopped horribly and the concept kind fell by the wayside because of it. Seeing them really take that feeling and taking it to the extreme makes me super excited to give it a go. It also makes me happy to hear it's not like Tarkov, because I've never played Tarkov and my friend enjoys it, but the constant fear of PvP isn't my favorite dynamic. PvE servers will definitely be where I start. Thanks for sharing the info mate!

if we let them cook this could be a huge game

My biggest concern rn is actually my pc. I got a pc recently but it’s a friend’s old one. About 6 years old. And if you are having performance issues then I might be cooked. Because I don’t want to buy it then not be able to play it. It can run “the finals” but it has to be on all low settings for it to run well. Not good, but well. I don’t want my pc to effectively become a bomb when loading this game up. Not criticizing, I’m set on this game, just doubting my PCs power to run it

yeah this is a next-gen game on unreal 5, it's gonna be tough to optimize for old systems. It might be one to just wait a bit on until you have a stronger rig, which is what I did before getting into EFT
@dD-04193 ай бұрын
@@riloegaming yea, hopefully by the time this game comes out I’ll have pulled enough together for a more powerful rig. 😁

They can take as much time as they need tbh, a game like this needs it. I’m also hoping they add more to the game and expand the map later on if possible.

I want to try and help clear confusion about 5.56 rounds as since they’re smaller they pack a smaller punch but are better for breaking body armor to my understanding.
@DavidRyanTaylor3 ай бұрын
Really hoping they can pull this off. Also hoping for scroll-wheel movement pace selection, as well as scroll-wheel stance (crouch, mid-crouch, fully up-right, etc.) selection. EFT has that option nailed, and it needs to be in any serious tactical FPS.

i feel like they could have empty consumables be a physical game item, if u dont have space for your waste (pill packs, mre packaging) then others could use it to track you maybe a bad take maybe not
@riloegaming3 ай бұрын
Would be cool, but it’s all a question of what’s really needed/viable to actually make happen
@merkymurk75343 ай бұрын
@@riloegaming ill admit, isn't really needed, ontop of "being more realistic" it might just end up being more pain, just that at a computing standpoint seemed like an easy intergration by changing states, but more ≠ better

Really unimportant things atm but the map being a physical PDA like in stalker would be extra cool. Same for the compass.

The comparison to Ghost Recon Wildlands makes me exited. I really liked the exploration and immersion of being a PMC in Wildlands, but the generic Ubisoft open world and RPG mechanics really ruined it for me. Seeing another game going for exploration and immersion but with mechanics focused on realism sounds right up my alley. Can't wait to see more!
