Definitely talk about the math and how the bags lock together. I’m sure you have some (more) engineering nerds watching. 😁
@davidprins94013 жыл бұрын
Yes please. 😁 Similar to a bridge or an arch I'm guessing, but that usually requires support during construction then self supports when the key stone is set... Right? My memories of school are not very good any more! Lol
@theadventuresofbrockinthai43253 жыл бұрын
@@davidprins9401,I agree that during construction you need an internal support of some sort. Then when finished you can take all of that down. I would like to see a big skylight at the top as the keystone I think that would solve a lot of problems and save a few rows of bags. Make it 5 or 6 feet across. It would also be nice at night when you can see the stars.

Dome buildings all around the world were built the same way you're doing it. Florence, Italy has the best example of this. The Duomo of Florence is the largest dome in Italy. It's proper name is Santa Maria Del Fiore. I hope you put a sky light in the center. It's magical to view the stars at night. What are you going to do with that half dome made out of aluminum pipe we see in the background? Just keep plugging away and you'll be the envy of the neighborhood when it feels like a torch outside. Snug as a bug in a rug...or earthbag home. Love it.

Its getting that look, taking the shape into a dome. I had thought a central sky light would pay off but the ones I remember have a pillar like tube to bring the light down to the lover level. Yours will be an extra long tube to come all that way down to the platform above the room below. I don't know enough about them just the one I did see in action used to light a bathroom with no windows, that thing really provided a lot of light and was central in the house. Came all the way through the loft to the ceiling center of the bath/toilet room.

People around the world have been able to build with the same kind of earth that they are using and dang some of the buildings have been standing for hundreds of years as long as they do the upkeep to keep the water out and most of the old buildings do not have barbed wire to hold it together the key is keep the water out and let it breathe so all moisture can dry out if water of any kind gets in if you could find a clear yeart cap that would let light in you two are doing grate do what you like and be happy be blessed with joy each day

At this stage of the build, where you are offsetting large portions of the earth bags to create the dome shape, It would be wise to switch from loose materials to a rigid ones. Maybe some sort of fibre reinforced concrete in bags to give you more stability and durability.

Oh Jim, you know how to charm a lady - "as you wish" is indeed the line that Westley (Cary Elwes) says to Buttercup (Robin Wright) every time he really means "I love you", so it's an excellent reference to make when you feel just momentarily put upon but really don't mind running an extra errand for that special someone because you do love them. That way, you turn that moment that could've felt like you were being "nagged" into an opportunity to cherish your partner instead.

Nice work looks good. Have you taken into account the pressure of the ladder and the dirt on the side where the ladder rests? Hate to see it move even a bit, would be a tough fix. Maybe consider a support under the ladder to those overhang brackets or maybe to that floor as a bit of a relief so all the weight isn't on the side of the dome. Anyways, I just finished the last of my harvest from the garden and prepped the beds and planters with compost for spring planting, had our first frost the other night, winters coming fast and I'm ready for a long winters nap.
@concretehousebuildinginph14883 жыл бұрын
Jess, If you set each course in a constant 3 inches it would seem to produce a cone shape, where a dome sounds more like a hemisperical shape. Do you need to know the setbacks for a 6-1/2 inch rise from some given starting diameter? I could make a list with CAD pretty quick. Just need a starting diameter. Could also do an eliptical shape just as easy to a given height. george and aurora building Villa Cecelia
