Jared and Susu can you please not hardcoded the English sub if that's possible? Would be so good for listening exercise but my eyes can't help but look at the English sub when it's there 😅 Thank you both!

Can you explain the meaning of this: 😅 In the West it doesn't really mean anything special, it's used very randomly, but a Chinese friend says it gives off a "阳阳怪气" mood, but I don't really understand when and how to use it.

Cool! The monkey emoji pun was so unexpected. Are there any more instances where any Cantonese words get mixed into Mandarin???
@rowena97073 жыл бұрын
yes, if you want to pay the bill, lots of people now saying "买单" which comes from the Canto word "埋单" (same pronunciation), they used to call it "结账"; another one is husband, more and more ppl saying "老公" nowadays, while it is called '"丈夫",“爱人”... elsewhere, and this word also comes from Cantonese. also, I think we call nailed it/get it done with the word "搞定", it could also come from Cantonese, but I am not pretty sure.

@@rowena9707 you're right! it's 搞掂 in vernacular Cantonese. 掂 in Cantonese sound svery close to 定 in Mandarin 😁😁

@h_yue14793 жыл бұрын
666 本身就是取 玩得溜 中的 溜的谐音啦。你理解错溜的意思了hhhh。666 was intended to phonetically resemble 溜 which means someone excels in something. Unfortunately, it is the same world as "going away". lol

don't get into the habits of relying on pinyin! pinyin only representing the sound, not the meaning, it would be more confusing. in proper Chinese media, you won't be able to find anything written in pinyin.😂
