My grandmother passed on this year at 99 just shy away from 100 years. She was in Malawi. At 99 she was doing everything by herself, living in her own house, attending to her own needs like bathing, feeding etc. Her eyesight was good, memory sharp and hearing not too bad. She never used hearing aids but one had to speak louder around her especially in the last five years but could hold a conversation. Since I have known her, she only had one proper meal ( lunch) and in the evening she would have a cup of tea. She worked ( farming and was an entrepreneur all her life building small houses for rent until her dying day, guess this helped her as well).

As humans we have certain species specific needs: - Community - Daily sufficient movement (lots of walking and some cardiovascular and strength training) - Being outdoors (sunshine and connecting to the earth through our skin) - Circadian rhythm (rising with sun; going to bed after sunset) - Proper nutrition (locally grown organic foods and high quality animal foods such as red meat, organs, unpasteurised milk and cheese) - A meaningful existence (something to live for other than yourself; giving to others; gratitude) - Proper sleep Its a simple but not so easy recipe in today's world.

@@petecarroll3949 yes you’re right. However mind-body medicine is helpful for pain that linger long past the time it should’ve taken for it to heal. Sometimes nerves get caught in this chronic looping of pain because of neural pathways constantly firing. Mind-body medicine helps break those repetitive cycles. For acute pain from injuries or infections or injuries etc., you obviously need to treat those with actual medicine. I have an incurable condition that affects my nerves and I was told I would be essentially disabled by this forever because there’s no real treatment other than painkillers. I am now about 70% better by trying to control my own nervous system through mind-body medicine.

One thing I never forgot and always repeat to other people - besides food, nutrition, exercise, meditation, and medicine, make ART, MUSIC and NATURE some part of your life - so very true, Dr. Weil's words ~ (Spirituality helps too, if you are open to that and other things, too). Glad to hear he is still so active - great interview! Thanks for this!

I grew up in 60s and 70s and my parents didn't trot to the doctor constantly. They had an arsenal of medicines and home remedies they knew how to apply. Frankly if you did feel it prudent to check with a doctor, he would confirm which remedies to apply. FACT doctors would tell people to do home remedies because they work, but the doctors would check out things to be sure it wasn't more serious (like pneumonia or appendicitis). And then send parents home with instructions on what natural remedies to use (poultices, inhalants, salves, tinctures, solutions etc.) Doctors used and prescribed naturopathic remedies UNTIL pharmaceuticals started making drugs that treated symptoms instead of being curative. Med schools started letting pharmaceuticals companies rewrite the text books and control what is being taught or not taught... apparently this dates back a ways. This is why my parents avoided doctors and went only to older doctors. Today's doctors have been taught to consider those things "wives tales" and a muttleheaded, hysterical, anti-female persona has been attached to home remedies.

It’s so good to hear a medical practitioner saying things I’ve always suspected. It’s a question of first getting to know your own body and mind really well, and that’s not that difficult, then you know when it’s absolutely necessary to get outside help.

I’m so happy to hear from Dr Weil. Very interesting interview. I’ve been a follower of dr Weil for many years. Not only I read and collected all his books, but also visited his clinic in Tucson. My very best doctor for many years was one of first doctors, who went trough Internship with Dr Weil. Thanks to dr Weil and my personal doctor I’m not a stranger to Homeopathy, Ayurveda, and Naturopathy. Dr Weil’s explanation of how Homeopathy works in one of his latest books is very simple and logical. Worth of gold.

Child of the 60s here: environmentalist, fitness enthusiast, and health professional. I've been a fan of Dr. Wile for decades...and refer to my small collection of his books often. Dude knows his stuff....and he has a talent for acquiring the information a lot of us would seek if we had the time and connections that he has. Learning from him has been a great asset to my life. I am now in my mid-60s....and look and feel great: get constant comments from people who think l'm still 40. I am OK with that!!! LOL 😆 👌 GREAT to see Dr. Weil here in interview on YT.... he is always well worth the listen!!! I always respect a person who is devoted to wellness... AND "practices what they preach".

Dr. Wile practices what Dr. Goundry advises: get a younger wife - she will give you young set of bacteria that will make you younger. They gave old cows bacteria from young cows and old cows became young again.

Dr. Goundry says that every living thing is a hotel for bacteria. As long as our guests are alive, happy and numerous, we are also alive and happy. Dr. Wile knows that.

I always loved Dr. Weil’s attitude and love of natural medicine. Love!!! I grew up reading his books bc my mom had them all. ❤️ He does talk about the “unconscious” mind though, and I think he means the learned behavior, that’s basically part of us now. The thinking, doing, and now just being- all the habits and thinking we do is how we are now, not necessarily WHO we are. I always think it’s a little more complicated in this too - the brain is very complex, filled with neurotransmitters, synapses connections, micronutrients needed to function properly etc. It’s not always just turn your mind off from it and we are healed. The brain is crazy and it’s amazing what they are finding in the world of neurology and brain studies! Example: you can’t just tell a severely adhd person to go shutoff and focus and start writing lists etc- and then expect Miraculous miracles. It doesn’t work this way....there are true learned behaviors now part of how we are...

The thing about tea for some of us: we do not have the luxury of time to prepare the real tea properly. I checked into the green tea that Dr. Weil has on his website, and it is both labor and money intensive. For lay people who have a lot on their plate, even older people like me (and I am 77) I will experience stress just to have to go through the tea ritual while I have other important aspect in my life that need my attention. @judyjackson22603 жыл бұрын
@@judylloyd7901 the Holy Spirit is God. Jesus said I'm going that the Comforter may come. I'm with you, but I shall be in you. Jesus said my Father and I am one. He also said unless you believe I AM, old Testament vernacular before God was known by the symbols that meant Jehovah, you shall die in your sins. That is why the Jewish religious leaders wanted to destroy him. The Bible even says that those leaders said that he is making himself equal with God. They were angry, they thought it was blasphemy. The Bible says talking of Christ he came to his own and they received him not. Man added the vowels so we could say that symbol that meant God; Jehovah. Jesus said He has all power in heaven and earth. So if He was not Jehovah God would be powerless. Jesus said when you've seen me, you've seen the Father. God was more of a mystery in Abrahams time. Then throughout time God began to reveal that mystery. The Bible tells us that when Jesus was resurrected he had a new changed body, one that doesn't die. Just as God's children at the end of time will have a heavenly body. God will still be king of kings or Lord and Master. The Bible also tells us the Word was with God and the Word was God and the Word was made flesh. And that God was manifest in the flesh. This means seen or revealed. But until he died that body was not glorified yet. The Bible tells us that he was the child of the Holy Ghost. Read the book of Acts (Acts 2:38) the start of the church. The other books are to churches or ministers meant for people already in the church, born again. The Muslims got one thing right. God is one. That was one of the first things he told revealed to Abraham. Here O Isreal the Lord our God is one. That has never changed. Just as A man can be a father, and a son and have the spirit of life ( the breath of God when he was created, Adam) he is still one being. And his name is not Father, nor is is son, or even spirit of man. His name is Jesus. The Bible says there is no other name under heaven whereby he must be saved. And the Bible says search the scripture (or Bible) for in them ye think he have eternal life. He gave his life that we may have life and more abundantantly. Is it too much to ask that he wants us to read his plan or mission for mankind? Part of belief is caring enough to find out if you really have the truth or not. Love you all. God bless you and I hope he will make you seekers of truth.
