Thank you for going into details about profiles and driving a non-ABS car. Other reviews spend so much time obsessing over driving aids like ABS even though 90%+ of racecars DON"T have ABS. For me, what makes these pedals, or rather this style of pedal, so attractive is the fun and immersion that can be had with easily adjusting the feel, throw-length, force, and force curve. It's probably not the best thing to do for pure laptimes, but for fun and immersion, it would be so amazing to have all sorts of different physical brake characteristics depending on if I'm racing a 1960s GT, modern F1, modern F2000, an 80s/90s Ferrari F40 LM/GTE, a 125 cc kart, a 1970s Can-Am, a soft road car, etc. etc. It would be one extra thing that differentiates the experience - positive or negative - of different cars. ABS is so not the main feature of this pedal set yet every one obsesses over it.

They sold me on the brake pedal when they showed that you could set up far brake travel AND high force. That alone (abs is nice too) sold me on the pedal. I initially thought that it was too expensive but over time I've decided I want it enough so I ordered one 2 days ago. Cannot wait to get it!

@@alexanderdiak I cannot see myself using any other pedal for the brake after using it for this long. It's just the perfect pedal and the fact you can swap between pedal setups with a mouse click makes it very immersive too.

These are such sweet pedals and for the price the technology is amazing. The key for us all is to wait for these to reproduced and the cost to come down. I am looking forward to the future of sim-racing and the gear that simucube has is second to none. It is great quality and does come at a premium. If you have the extra income, I would recommend, but for most of us, it is too much to swallow.

41:40 i don't have the Simucube pedal but the Haptor from Simagic. On iRacing and rFactor2 i start my trailbraking when i feel the ABS. I tried to do the same on ACC but ended by staying in the ABS because i was loosing brake efficiency so i'm suprised to hear that you start trailbraking when you feel the ABS.

Another great review Dan. This is the second time I’ve watched your video. Initially I thought it was too expensive and didn’t give it a second thought. Then I was thinking how a lot of people question the value proposition of these pedals vs. a high-end wheel like a P1. The price differential is not that high, and I think there’s a lot more “benefit” that these pedals offer. You have me thinking again. I have to admit that every time I watch one of your new or old videos, I’ve ended up buying it like the densu flag, the SC2 pro (switching from the Simagic Ultimate), and now either the P1 or the active pedal. You are an expensive influencer. 😂

Fantastic review/take! So the way I understand it, if the car [in the sim] does not have ABS, you get no effects? ie - you can't simulate wheel lock up on non ABS cars? Likewise, if the car has no traction control, you cannot simulate the car spinning it's wheels/losing grip? Is this correct?

@Fummi
@Fummi Жыл бұрын
My opinion is that the actual games are not ready for that kind of technology. My expectations from a ffb pedal were more about getting an acurate feeling of pressure, travel and texture, a different one from any car on the game, as the wheelbases can already provide. This is only endless adjustability + abs effect, but all you feel comes from the pedals software, the game always treats the pedals the same in game.
@breeminator
@breeminator Жыл бұрын
Yes, what you describe is exactly what we need - force feedback pedals where the force is controlled by the game in the same way as it controls the force applied by a force feedback wheel. That's the only way what we feel through the pedals can exactly reflect what the car is doing in the game, like we feel through pedals in real life.

Have done a quick patent search (EU, US & Canada) and could not find a pending patent on this from Simucube or Granite Devices. Did so just to calibrate (pun intended) the likelihood of a competitor coming up with a similar but less expensive version. Was somewhat confused when a higher up at Simagic in a recent interview seemed to suggest that Simucube did have IP protection of some kind on the active pedal. All very interesting. Anyone know more?

50:45 why is this sort of thing not more public. (how to drive in iracing: "abs starts triggering around 80-85% or so but fundamentally you still do the same thing: you trail off when you start feeling the ABS because you do not want to use it [...] because it overheats the tires but you can use the feeling of the ABS to trail off the brakes"

great review Dan, but lets face it. Many of us might recommend throttle and brake when they cost you like 1500 euros total. After you pay them 4300 euros tho it isnt so easy to recommend this purchase. Honest from you to point that out at the start of the video tho. Im sure that this technology will allow a step forward into simulation when it will become more accessible.

To be completely honest ... if I had to send both back I would also just buy tham at the full price, I'm really that impressed. To be fair I'm in the lucky position that I make money with simracing, so it's easier to justify spending that much money on a pedalset. Still - I think the passive throttle is a great move that makes the whole thing a bit less expensive (I dont really want to use the words "more affordable" here 😅) - definitely looking forward to test that as well!

The sim racing hobby is already expensive to begin with but the pricing on these are absurd. Those defending the price of these pedals sound ridiculous when current pedals on the market will do just fine. I’m sure their margins per pedal is beefy for each sucker that purchases these. The only bright side to this are competitors coming out with more reasonable priced pedals with similar concept down the road.
