I've been crushing it lately. I want to talk about what changes over the past year or so have been the most influential.

Congrats on the new distance, swing looks super snappy. Great tip about keeping the disc below the elbow!

The leaning back/elbow change made a WORLD of difference for me too. I'm so glad you shared that before because my form is much more consistent and more powerful than it used to be!

Yep I'm definitely slowing down for more distance. Slowing down everything except the hit of the throw. Gotta accelerate a ton through the hit. I found I couldn't accelerate through the hit point enough when I was already doing everything else so fast during the run-up. The slower we go through all the steps until the apex of the reach extension, the faster we can whip through the release point!

Great job.. long putts are such a tweener thing for people. They can make or break your round but honestly, I think practicing your short putts is more important and ultimately when that fire round hits your short putts really propel your confidence so those long putts do not matter because you have the comebacker dialed

The past 6 months or so after playing 3-5x a week since finding the sport in 2020, I’ve been able to start throwing to new max distances 500-530 this year for the first time ever. Also for the first time ever, I’m having outer knee pain on my plant foot. I’m 6ft 185 and athletic with good form (not as goood as yours) but I’ve found that overuse/ bad plant foot and weight shift, has caused a slight pain to develop when throwing my hardest. I have been slowing my routine down and, it’s helped with the pain a lot and I can still throw 400- 430 which on majority of disc golf courses that’s all you need. My question is about the plant foot and weigh shifting. What do you focus on in your plant foot and weight distribution that allows you to consistently mash without potentially hurting yourself?

With proper form you really shouldn’t have any issues. My guess is you were doing something wrong that was causing issues but allowing you to throw further. This isn’t sustainable. I can throw max effort shots every day with no issues. Main thing I would focus on is making sure your last step isn’t too long so you have good posture going into the plant and are able to keep your body weight centered over the ground properly. Hard to say what your issue is without seeing you throw, though.

@@TylerTiede thank you for replying and ok that’s good to know that you don’t have any pain. And just from slowing yours down in this video I notice you stay braced longer than I do, you don’t actually rotate on your heel and follow through until the disc is releasing out of your hand and your chest is already forward, you also make sure your feet positioning is more staggered (right foot out in front of your back foot) than mine, we have similar pull throughs and my off arm stays by my side my back leg gets up in time and drives forward well. But I really struggle with the plant foot I feel like I rotate too early on it and don’t get my plant foot down horizontal and out infront of myself well enough and sometimes I don’t distribute weight through my heel and straighten my leg out as I come across it usually stays bent which I’m sure is putting unneeded strain on it

If you think about it in compared to other activities. Pitchers breath out and grunt when they throw so do QB's and any sport that requires throwing something. I started breathing out as I pull through and after getting it in sync with the form it makes the throws feel better and stronger as well.

Great video! Your X-step is causing throws to veer right. Try transitioning weight from big toe to small toe during the first step of the X-step to keep hips parallel. (I call it toppling over in my mind) This should maintain your momentum and increase throw accuracy, and distance. Test it and share your results! Good luck this season!

I think simple is not the correct word but to be loose makes it look simple. And when people try too hard (to throw hard and far) they are tense and actually throw shorter than with less power. At least for me it pretty much like that. Elbow belove disc = nose up, maybe some people makes it exception but in the release point elbow shouldn't be belove disc if you want to throw nose down. Throwing looked good to my eye maybe you lean a bit over your front leg at least in the last throw. Don't want to be rude or something :D but I think it will help even more if you give a try to hold your body from leaning. Leaning over front foot is a big thing when rushing into throw. James Conrad just makes it work somehow :).
