They do this work in flip flops with no safety gear whatsoever and nobody seems to be hurt. I'm just sorry that they have to work in these conditions even though their work is perfection

how come i never se them use any cooling paste or cooling liquid when they lathe? i know they might not have the funds or equipment for it, but wouldent it save the turning steel, or save the drill when drilling even old sludge oil would do wounders.

@@dunkelheit843 I think that was refractory mortar, maybe even some type of clay...Every time they do a pour, some sand gets burned, and has to be replaced.......by facing it with clay or watever, the sand lasts longer, not as much gets burned

I think the rotors are going to be too soft; engine blocks are not known to be a hard material
@utsports2 жыл бұрын
Actually what they just made is a Brake Drum, which uses Brake Shoes ,a Rotor is flat ,and uses Brake Pads
@Eddie.D3462 жыл бұрын
@@utsports Even so, brake drums or rotors, need to be hard to resist wearing out too soon, were as engine blocks need to be stiff,strong,and have stability......

@@Eddie.D346 Yes ,true but according to research , these guys were using Cast Iron, Cast Iron has certain properties, has a high content of Carbon ,and that makes Cast Iron have a harder surface due to the high content of Carbon, which makes Cast Iron more resistant to wear better than Steel, also Cast Iron ability to handle heat better than Steel during friction, so Cast Iron is more resistant to heat ,and so during the braking process heat is generated trough friction from the surface lining of the Brake Shoe that's being pressed against the surface of the Alloy , and the harder the surface of the Alloy the more resistant to wear combined with Cast Iron again the ability to handle heat better
@utsports2 жыл бұрын
@@Eddie.D346 Well actually from research the same type/class35 of Cast Iron is used in Engine Blocks ,as well as Cast Iron Drums ,and the Cast Iron Alloy which is used is Gray Cast Iron, which has a 212MPa on the Brinell hardness scale,and the composition of typical Gray Cast Iron class 35 is/are Carbon, C 3.25 - 3.5 % Chromium, Cr 0.050 - 0.45 % Copper, Cu 0.15 - 0.40 % Iron, Fe 91.9 - 94.2 % Manganese, Mn 0.50 - 0.90 % Molybdenum, Mo 0.050 - 0.10 % Nickel, Ni 0.050 - 0.20 % Phosphorus, P

@@utsports The only thing is when you say steel, there are many different types of steels....high carbon steel is p harder than iron, after all, what is steel? Purified iron........the old lathe bits were high carbon steel, and that was quite a bit harder than the iron they would cut......Then they come out with stellite a very hard steel which was even better, ....... then high speed steel,so on and so forth
