Now the poor decisions you allowed that young man working for the contractor with his parents inappropriately too low…. A very poor decision on your part and his employer…… Sorry this show and yesterday get a thumbs down….. We hope you make more appropriate decisions in the future….. Best…….

I am pretty cavalier when it comes to my own health and safety and have a collection of scars to prove it, but your contractors take this to a new level, one slip from that height and there a good chance you are spending the rest of your life in a wheelchair - if you survive the fall.

Really surprised they let you film this with guys well over 6ft above the ground and not tied off. OSHA would have a field day with this video. As a full time safety guy it just makes me shake my head that the owner doesn’t care enough about his employees to give them the tools to do it safely and make it home to their families at the end of the day. One slip and someone’s life if forever changed.

Wow, incredible efficiency and tremendous young craftsman. I spent 40 years in the construction trade. I called these guys the flash in the pan crew. None of them will be in this trade past 40 or 45 years of age. Some will fall and never be able to work in the trade again, others will be so beat up that they will have a hard time moving. An extremely dangerous work site and work conditions. And no, I’m not a Karen or Ken. I have seen men paralyzed. I’ve seen men fall and die. No safety harnesses no eye protection, kneeling on the ground with no knee pads , riding in a bucket. Efficiency yes unnecessary risk plenty.

These guys are fast, but they have no professional supervision over them. They would not qualify as a professional contractor, and could never work on any public works projects. Their safety standards do not exist, and they think they are getting ahead by taking the big risks of the the worker's lives for speed. Just wait until the first serious accident happens, and it will happen. Then the only speed you will see is their name on the toilet paper you use, and watch it go down the drain fast.

I can't believe that the roof is housewrap and then metal roofing. That doesn't seem like it would stand up to a serious wind storm (especially the covered sawmill area). Is that typical for this type of building?

It will never be large enough unfortunately. I am pretty sure when you were talking about figuring out where your stuff should go it wasn't as much of a guessing game as you led on. There is lot's of forethought going into this that is obvious. Sometimes plans change though when the space starts filling though that's for sure. It's kind of interesting to see some construction where there is a certain amount of danger accepted by highly skilled people.

MAAAAAAANNNN, You're absolutely Lucky you live where you do. Those contractors working like they are at the beginning of this vid Wouldn't At All get away with the way they are hoisting themselves and the lumber up to the mounting points of the frames here in So. Cal. Its so regulated that local state and county law enforcement, and city code inspectors driving around and should they see that kind of work practices being used, can and will shut down the work site. If the homeowner or building contractor has a pulled permit that permit is suspended pending the OSHA Review board. If there's no work permit somebody's going to pay a fine and could go to jail.

@3:41 I would not trust the method they are using to fasten the rafters to the top beams. That 2by will not hold in a strong wind. they should have ran 1 or 2 boards in between the top boards to attach the rafters to. it would be sandwiching the rafter in between 2 full boards that would cover the entire part of the rafter.

Different rules and regulations for different states and countries and all that. If I was videoed standing on top of that structure like that in my job, I’d be sacked on the spot. As long as the guys are happy doing working like that I guess, like I said, there should be a certain level of competency.
