It's now "old news" almost but let's not forget: Göbekli Tepe was a true "wait what?? That'd change everything we thought we knew" moment in archaeology! It's literally THOUSANDS of years older than ANYTHING we even HOPED to find in a best case scenario!! It's so much older than Stonehenge or the pyramids, it didn't even make sense under the old theories! No wonder many went straight to Aliens or that sort of thing, it was just about 3000 years too old to be there...3 THOUSAND years!!

If you look at Bright Insight channel, how the location of Atlantis suddenly makes a lot of sense, while also explaining that a great cataclysm happened around 12000years ago that almost if not completely reset civilization... then the Göbekli Tepe suddenly is more plausible. And also that the sphinx is a lot older than currently stated. It was under the sea, and a lot of evidence added to this theory. Yet it is rejected, because it does not make sense. I think, even IF something does not make sense to us now, it should be left with a question mark, for further evidence to support such theories keep rising to the surface, changing history as we know it. I don't care if ppl say it was aliens that influenced our civilization, or mankind is a lot older than we believe so far. A lot of things do not add up with our current explained history, too many similarities between civilizations separated by oceans, that never met, unless bridged by something. The answers are out there. We just need to keep digging, we just need to always keep asking ourselves "why" and "how". Not settle for the most convenient answer, because that's the only way we can explain it.

One of most interesting places I've seen in the US is Pueblo Grande in downtown Phoenix, AZ of all places. It, and many other settlements, are found in the Sonoran desert basin, and the people are called the 'hohokam', which translates from O'odham language as 'all used up'. From apprx. 300CE to 1450CE, these people built complex villages, canals, ballcourts and platform mounds - then, disappeared.

Another awesome fact about Göbekli Tepe, is the fact archaeologists believe that they have uncovered less than 10% of it. And just as a point of interest, whenever archaeologists don’t know what a particular site was used for; they invariably call it a “temple”. Personally I would favor the explanation that Göbekli Tepe was some sort of astronomical Observatory. This is due to the fact that the vast majority of the sections that have been uncovered so far are virtually identical in nature and design. This is another way using archeo-astronomy that the age of this site has been estimated. If the people who built this place worshiped or observed a particular star or constellation; then it makes sense that instead of destroying the site (which would take too much time, not to mention repurposing the original items and pillars) they simply with reverence, buried one and built another. The nearly identical layout of each pillar can easily be explained that these people knew of precession, even if they didn’t know exactly what it was. As the earths orbit and wobble within the orbit changes over time that would mean the specific star or constellation that they may have worshiped would not rise in the same area of the sky. Of course this still begs the question of exactly how these sites were built, considering that the average weight of these blocks is anywhere from 8 to 12 tons. Something extremely important must have happened in the long forgotten past to make a simple hunter/ gatherer society build a structure such as this.
@neohasse
@neohasse 4 жыл бұрын
@@judsonross6995 10% yes. Observatory, speculation, which is fine. most archaeology is speculation, if not all. I still find it hilarious that we try to take our standards and try to figure out what happened 10k years ago. Not everything is a temple or an observatory. The question is; why did they bury their city?

Simon here is a fact for you around 10,000 years ago (end of an ice age) the sea level rose 400feet (120m) rather quickly. What's intriguing is we lost 30million square KMS of coastal land and that is the size of Africa. People tend to populate and build cities around the coast's. I believe we have lost most of our history to the sea considering we have been around for 200,000 years or so according to anthropologist. Over the decades there have been ancient ruins found under the sea but as you could imagine archeological research 100m under the ocean is difficult, dangerous and expensive and obviously any monument built under the ocean would predate and undermine the archeological consensus. So there hasn't been much enthusiasm to do sea archeology.
@fecalmatter4195

@drew pedersenYes this event was devastating and the probable cause of the mega fauna extinction which archeologist believe humans were responsible for. I never believed this theory because hunter gatherers tend to live in a sustainable way because their lives depend on it. My point was this event was so violent and rapid that humans may have even been lucky to survive this and I imagine some parts of Africa was spared and people recovered from there. Sadly though I believe there will be very little evidence left to find.
