Skeleton horses are actually traps that SUMMON the lightning. Basically if a horse gets struck by lightning during a lightning storm, it will turn into a skeleton trap horse. When the player gets close enough to the skeleton trap horse, lightning will strike it regardless of the weather, and it will split into 4 skeleton horses, which are SUPPOSED to have 4 skeletons on top that have enchanted bows and iron helmets. One of my favorite Minecraft features that many people miss.

the one with the skelli horse and the lightning...welll it happesn actually always when you approach a skelly horse. usually they have skelletons on them cuz mojang thoight back then " lets put the biblical horsemen into a childgame" (and microcock with the new eula be like " only for 10 year olds because they make good money and older players dont " in this case, it appears he had the game on easy so no skelletons spawned
