Hey guys! So originally this video was supposed to be out at the same time as my workbook launched. But that didn’t quite happen (I continually overestimate how much I can get done, it’s a flaw- I know!)… so I’m opening up the workbook for the next 24 hours in case you wanted it. (It’ll come back in late fall, if you’re not sure). Link in description ❤

Hello Gabrielle, I think a interisting idea for video will be a analysis of ambassador (like essence, kibbe and personal color) for the fashion brands (like gucci, channel, prada, dior...) For example, Jisoo (from blackpink) she is a ambassador from Dior, she is a classic-romantic-ingeniune and soft classic body tybe, and soft winter. And she fits perfect for the Dior image. Same goes to Natalie Portman. Another example is Jennie (also from Blackpink) to Channel, she is a deep autumn, flamboyant gamine, and ingeniune-gamine. And another example is Lily rose depp she is deep summer, franboyant gamine, etc. So for example of Channel, people with these characteriscts can find theses celebrites/ambassadors for examples to find you fashion sense. Not necessarie buy Channel products, but to have a base for outfits and use on daylife. From Prada people think the best ambassador is Jaehyun (from NCT) I think he has classic essence, deep/soft winter, but I still does understand why he fits perfect to prada, for all ambassadors I think he really have the "energy/essence" to Prada, but I still does know what is, so if you could make a analysis from theses brands, I think will be a great video, and unique to KZbin.

As a soft classic (with romantic and touch of natural essences I think) I have no problems wearing the same stuff for years. I keep most of my wardrobe for at least a decade, probably longer now. People who declutter all the time might regret it. I pack clothes away for years sometimes and then pull them out again when the time is right (either trend or size change). This is just me though. I have spent years building my wardrobe. Even if doesn’t fit perfectly to my Kibbee type if I love it I keep it. It helps that I have had my office job for a good 20 years. I have made peace with what I can wear and look good. Being well dressed, while at times boring, always gets noticed.

I re-reference your videos regularly. I am slowly sewing a wardrobe I like, attempting to use a handful of patterns that I tweak and adjust (honing in pant fitting has been quite the process), and come back to you when my fashion eyes get a little too big for my stomach. You have helped me polish what feels good, what I reach for regularly (and obviously need more of), and how to break out of the super casual jeans and tee life I had fallen into. Thank you for your creativity, visuals, and models variety.

Yikes I was a college administrator 80s to 2000 my work wardrobe was blazers, blouses, skirts pumps and pantyhose. I did investment dressing sales items at Neimans, Saks, Lord &Taylor...conservative colors that flattered me classics....I wore this wardrobe my entire career...terrific quality fabrics than and buttons and and and clothing is cheaper looking now even good brands. About the only thing I changed was skirt length. That strategy worked for me then. My style is totally different now creative, youthful though I am 75, artsy and unique. Most everything is vintage...I am in the midst of elimination right now.

I finally did pretty much this. I had some beautiful special occasion clothes but my everyday clothes were cheap and scruffy. I had to admit I basically wear mostly t shirts, vest tops and shorts. I also realised I hate jeans, which is why I had so many. I was always looking for the pair I would wear but they are always going to be heavy and pull down when I bend over or be uncomfortable on my waist. I went out and bought quality versions of my everyday stuff and a pair of cargo pants that fit the same niche and are actually comfortable. Now I look good every day. The temptation is to buy cheap when it’s just basics that will wear out. I find it useful to find people who have my lifestyle and my look who have great clothes. Also just refuse to shop in the super cheap shops.

This video is SO FULL of information. Seriously, this has like seven videos worth of content from lesser creators. I absolutely love your examples. I’d love to hear more about how to integrate the lines or shapes of your A+ pieces into your life style. For example, one of my A+ pieces is a navy crew neck sweater dress that’s very fit and flare. But my lifestyle is a mom of two toddlers and working from home so I’m usually in an athletic skort and sleeveless polo. How do I bridge the gap?

As always your videos are goldmine. I need to watch them twice and take notes not to forget what you say 😅. It’s different to many youtuber because no matter what our style are your advices works. I feel like I only see minimalist who only wear neutrals or on the contrary woman with original, funky and colorful looks that are fun to watch but don’t work for me personnally. Anyway, in the last years I feel like I made less shopping mistakes then when I was younger now that I shop only second hand. Probably because in the thrift store you are less influence by trends and you can express more your personnality. However sometimes I settle for « okay » pieces and not A+ one, I will be more careful about that in the future, I think the second shopping sin you talk about is probably my biggest one. I have a friend that always say when going shopping : « if there is a doubt, then there is no doubt, you shouldn’t buy it ». And I feel it’s quite a good advice. I’m really waiting for the video on style map, but all the other propositions seem really good and I’m sure you will do them in time.

I adore knit dresses, too, they’re super-comfy. My problem is in finding ones without synthetic fibers. All-cotton, linen, rayon, merino wool or cashmere are great, I even have some silk knit ones, I wore one yesterday just around the house and was blissfully comfortable even though I wasn’t feeling well. Linen jersey dresses are all I can stand at home on hot summer days. I save my ironed, woven linen ones for going out.

Everything you're saying here nails it for me. My closet got so bloated with several pieces of clothes that I like, but some of them looked a bit odd on me. This is the reason why I got into Kibbe and Kitchener to declutter my closet and make smarter shopping strategies. I have also found that there is an idealized style that I would like to have but seeing it against my body and my face and seeing a clash between the two, like I'm wearing a costume, or suiting what I looked like in high school or in my 20s. I have to dress for my 30-something year old face and body and what is true to how I actually look, not the idealized version of myself.

I absolutely love your style work book. I'm at a standstill (in a good way) because I'm taking my daily outfit photos and gathering data. I know what I love (romantic, ingenue and angelic) but I am trying to figure out my percentage of each. I look really good in the ingenue essence, but not 100%, so I'm adding on touches of the other essences and seeing what works and what doesn't. I love to sew, so I am determined to get to the bottom of my style essence percentage so I will be able to make my own clothing. Being a Spring color season has made it easy to pick colors, but I want to find what style lines are best for me so I don't waste money on items that are the right color but wrong style.

So happy that you're back, I loved this video and I needed this just now 😍 I would love to see the closet audit video, I'm definitely an occasion shopper who neglects her cluttered wardrobe but I document my daily outfit photos, at least. Now the occasion is that I don't have any flat sandals and I miss that functional piece in my wardrobe but hate the look of them. It's been the case for a long time (last time I wore a flat sandal I was around 10 years old) but lately I feel that the heat waves are so unbearable that I don't want to only use my closed toe shoes and my strappy block heeled sandals are out of my comfort zone as daily wear... I'm eyeing a leather sandal with closed toe but with punched holes on it for air circulation maybe this will be the one for me but I can't decide 🙈 will try again the evaluation with the suggestions of your video :) I'm a Soft classic with Classic Ingenue Natural essence (in that order) and a Soft autumn colour type.

So great to see you back! Your videos are always so informative without being too rigid. It doesn’t have to be the next video, but one thing I’d love to see you tackle sometime (which I guess would fall under option D?) would be purposeful contrast/juxtaposition. Most of your videos are based on harmony, but I remember you mentioning that juxtaposition is another valid way to go about personal style, and as someone who’s really interested in alternative styles, I’d love to hear your take on that!

Yes, so I wouldn't say its exactly "dressing in your outfit lines" to get an alt look to look fantastic, but a honing of your outfit rhythm, harmony, and balance. If you look at classic examples like the Olsen twins (soft gamines) or Winona Ryder (also SG) wearing baggy or non-obvious kibbe recs, I think they really achieve this with proper style principles. So this could actually weave well into that video.

I'm glad you're making content again! Your sense of humor and editing style make these videos so much fun to watch! I would love to see more videos about building wardrobes from parameters, maybe with some more instruction on how to maintain your personal style for different occasions or events. It would be fun to see an example of a woman traveling to vastly different places while maintaining her unique look. The more constraints on an example somehow make it easier for me to understand the process. It's cool to see examples of women with super eclectic taste pulling from different sources of inspiration and making it their own. I also like seeing the process of starting with a wild mess of a wardrobe and editing it to perfection. I'm sure whatever you decide to cover in your upcoming videos is going to be super helpful as always. Thank you!

So happy to see you back, missed you and your great content! I vote D. and would still really love to see a “catch all” video about information missed in some of the first essence videos like you had mentioned before. I’m particularly curious to see casual everyday looks for the romantic essence since in that essence video the examples were going out looks. You are the best content creator out there explaining kibbe/Kitchener and I’m always looking forward to your work. You’ve helped me transform my style so much, thank you!

I'm happy to see from you again, it's been a while! I see this video is a little rough in the audio around the cuts. But as always, the content is great! I've been watching you for a long while now, and I noticed that the biggest problem I have really is that I have no idea what silhouettes and shapes suit me. Nowadays anything I try on in store or in daily life, whether I took a picture or not, seems to fit wrong. I wish there was a guide on what type of silhouettes even exist and when to consider them, but that would be unrealistically complex and unreasonably extensive

Glad you're back too! You have definitely given me some things to think about. I'm interested in the personal style maps, style principles, & building outfits. I also want more examples of A+ pieces being styled in new ways or incorporated with different pieces creatively. So they look fresh

Thank you for always putting so much love, care and time into all of your work! You’ve truly helped me learn so much over the last year and anytime I see any content from you I’m so stoked!! I was wondering if you’d be able to share any examples of celebrities with a Natural Classic and Romantic Essence blend? I’ve been getting a bit stuck in finding a few examples or understanding how you would describe someone with this vibe. Thank you so much for reading! Excited to dive through your workbook once it’s shared again later this year!

Gabrielle, I appreciate your work, and I want to join in the workshop! What’s holding me back is the photos! I just don’t want to take the pictures! Yes to fall season, and I’ll be ready by then… I hope! The price is so reasonable! My summer days are sporadic, and I’m not with my closet very much! Thanks for the knowledge and expertise you share! Eee an update! I really wanted the workbook but I can't download apps (long story) so i knew i wouldn't be able to access it. This video is so useful and i feel so seen (embarrassingly! i was like "occasion shopping? not i!" but the second sin, where you kinda know what you need and settle, unfortunately has me all over it sldkhsflkhfs). I do feel like i've been working on my personal style for years with little to show for it, and I love how deeply practical this was for applying the data to real life. I have indeed not been taking daily outfit photos and I have only a vague sense of what i need right now; i'm a lot better at figuring out what doesn't work than figuring out what will work. On that note I do think it would be really useful to see a video about building outfits from your parameters! But I have also wanted you to do a personal style map video for forever.

Similar to the point you make about liking a diagonal line that accommodates width instead of narrowing you in, what happens if you like the texture, feel and look of a piece but it makes you look big? Do you then tailor it to fit your line? What happens when weight fluctuations happen very often so what fits today may not fit tomorrow? But keeping the piece in your wardrobe IS worth it because you'll ne able to fit again, just not this week. Is tailoring a better option than layering if the weather is too hot and multiple layers to make a look cohesive just isn't happening? Option A would be interesting, Perhaps something on how we can enhance a particular look but 1 or 2 elements do not fit into what you are comfortable with. Thanks! :)

I always love your videos and your guidance and information is so helpful and tangible! I often look at these kinds of style guide videos, not just for myself, but also thinking of my brother whose style-discovery is blooming a bit later than mine. I find a lot of style guide/how to build your wardrobe videos have advice applicable to all genders but tend to be quite feminised with all-female examples. Would you consider doing a style guide kind of video with advice/examples applicable to men's fashion? Not sure if you dabble in that area of styling.
