Trickstuff and Intend are top of the line MTB brakes. Loving these videos. Too many budget stuff online. We need more high end components.

I just recently heard about the Intend brakes - those look incredible as well!

If you have six bolt hubs, get the Ashima Aineon rotors. I’ve run them with my piccolas for years and no problems. They are the lightest usable rotors and pretty readily available. I’m over 200 pounds and they’ve never had issue slowing me down while doing 3000ft plus descents. Should work great for your weight
@UmunhumCycleworks2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I've heard the Ai2s aren't really great at actually slowing down - I'm guessing the Aineon are better?

Also your video is perfectly timed. Brakes is a hot topic with this week’s release of SRAM Maven. Honestly they’re overkill for a lot of riders who aren’t 200lbs+. They’re big and heavy. I’m fine with my Shimano XT and SRAM Code Silver Stealth.

Yep, I have no complaints with my SLX 4 pistons on my Ripmo and XTR 2 piston currently on the Highball, but these look pretty awesome! I'm excited to try them out.

Those weights are wrong. You have to add the lever bracket weights as well
@UmunhumCycleworks4 ай бұрын
You're right - I'll add those when I install them on the bike and add the correct weights in that video

Sure the Maxima is a downhill brake. What other brake should be better suited for downhill? You can also use the Piccola HD for enduro, it has enogth power.

Shimano Saint, TRP DHR, SRAM Maven are all good options for DH!

They are worth every penny. If your willing to spend the same money on Titanium cranks like me...you dont even think twice. There even was a time you could get them anodized.
@LaurentiusTriarius6 ай бұрын
I have Cane Creek eewings cranks but I wouldn't spend a cent on these overpriced brakes, I'm currently running the Lewis LH4 and Code RSC on my MTBs and it's perfect 😂
@hoopdyhop762 ай бұрын
Piccola hd’s are way more powerful and are half the weight. If anything after owning code rsc and level ultimates, I’d say the sram are overpriced and have worse ergonomics. I’ve had my trickstuff for 4 years and they’ve been on three bikes. I’ve gotten my moneys worth and then some.

When you will be doing the video about putting the brakes on the bike, could you please focus on the re-bleeding part in more detail? I am thinking about getting them, but I cannot find any usefull video about bleeding or shortening the hose. Love the vids
@UmunhumCycleworks7 ай бұрын
Will do! I'll probably do a separate video on the bleed process and one for installing them.

Bike falls over breaks a lever ,I would of thought it would be a nightmare to get a replacement
@UmunhumCycleworks7 ай бұрын
Yeah that was my concern too, but Trickstuff sells individual levers for replacement!
@dougbrett92187 ай бұрын
@UmunhumCycleworks wouldn't be cheap and waiting time on delivery would take a while ..if the brakes are hard to get as always sold out, the levers might be the same

There isn’t one. Back in the day when you could custom order them, you just ordered them direct from trickstuff. Their customer service is very good btw. You can order replacement parts like seals etc from trickstuff.

I appreciate the review interesting, I wouldn't wait for these brake that's for sure especially at that comical price "handmade" as the hopes, the lewis the formulas etc... I'm interested to see how reliable they are, I've heard bad things about the trickstuff also... *Edit the issue is apparently with the bionol they use, Danico the company that makes it are pushing "bio" lubricant with mitigated success. Still I wouldn't buy that stuff.
@hoopdyhop762 ай бұрын
Most reliable brakes I’ve had bar none, I’ve had mine for four years and they’ve been on three bikes. I bleed them when I first install them and then swap pads when they wear out and that’s pretty much it. Zero maintenance besides that and I’ve run the bionol the whole time. I have a friend who got the direttissima’s after trying my piccola HD’s and he’s had zero problems with them after getting them bled as well.

These are definitely a luxury item, I haven't ridden them yet, but we'll see if they perform well enough to justify the price.
