Aging Gen X'er here. It's hard to overstate what Vivaglam meant when it first came out. Institutionalized bigotry (travel restrictions. Loss of employment. Loss of housing) against people living with HIV / AIDS was rampant. MAC's Vivaglam campaign seemed like a defiant middle finger against the dehumanization that existed at that time. I'll always love them for it.

Brands not releasing things for pride is so scary to me (a trans person) and I wish it wasn't. Because as long as corporations think we're worth investing money in, we have a shield. When that's gone... I don't even know what we have any more. I hate that rainbow capitalism has become such a scourge and yet a boon.

MAC makeup sends a couple makeup artists for free to our annual Queer Prom for Youth and it's so lovely. 🥺 Queer Youth can come to Prom and get their makeup done and the artists are always so wonderful and know how to make makeup playful.

Yes!! Indie nail polish brands tend to do really well with that. Not all of them, but many of them do amazing charity polishes for various causes all year which is awesome. I love supporting smaller indie nail polish brands because you actually get to know the people behind the brands and you know where your money is going a lot better than bigger brands.
