@@TheSaltedPepper - such a great review from you! I'm thinking that using the older internal pot, even if it's slightly heavier, shouldn't be much of a problem, since it would be almost as if you added weight by putting more food in a lighter pot.

@@TheSaltedPepper - thanks for the tip! I appreciate your warning about the noise on the OL-701, since noise is important to me. Can you please tell me how the noise from that other OL-601 model compares? Is OL-601 just as noisy? They both look to be very similar in design, but I wanted to ask you. After having my new pot for a bit I think my favorite improvement is the vent location. I cannot tell you how many times I started to cook with vent in wrong spot. I love one lid as I have burned myself in taking the lid off and finding location for it. The time release was worth the upgrade.
@jilllech97858 ай бұрын
I so agree with Deborah Troop. The new vent position is fantastic. Without an island or an open counter, it took awhile to find a safe location for pressure release. I do have a steam mark on one cabinet. I used to have to cook with a towel fastened to the underside of my cabinet to prevent damage. Great review. Thanks so much.

Great presentation Louise. I was a 302 owner. I upgraded to the OL701 (based in part on your review). The pros speak for themselves, with you being the main spokesperson for same, so I'll comment on the minimal cons I've come across. I'm a bit of a clean freak so I've discovered some cons based on that. The internal pressure ring is a different material then in past versions and seems to need cleaning more frequently. Removal and reinsertion is a bit trickier as the open-lid angle makes it a somewhat more difficult operation. But the real headache I ran into was the little anti-clog cap. Man, was that difficult to remove. I have an average hand size but nevertheless it was very difficult to grasp and remove. The pressure release valve arrows are a bit misleading as the seal setting is when the valve is in the little notch and not all the way to the end of the arrow. The new probe is a very cool feature but the manual seems to imply that is can't be placed in water!? Huh? I must be misunderstanding the manual as it is used under high pressure, with superheated steam, so how can it NOT be in contact with water. And how would you clean it? Nevertheless, I pressure cooked a piece of boneless skinless chicken breast using the probe with CHICKEN preset with quick release setting and the finished product was excellent, perfectly cooked and ready for me to make chicken salad sandwiches. This machine is going to be a blast!

I just purchased what I thought was the most recent model, but mine is an OL500!? Why do Instant Pot and Ninja do so many versions? Can't they get it right? Now I feel like returning this one as I notice I don't have a crisper basket, but a plate. Also the stand is single tier and I've been seeing a double. I also learned of proofing and a probe. I cook for 2 and we like to have leftovers and with 6.5 Q. it seems plenty, but when you want to air fry I think more room would be beneficial. The proofing, probe and the pressure release are of interest to me. I could just do dehydrate for proofing, but like the few other things I mentioned. I will tell a story. When we were first married I bought a Weber grill for about $300. My husband thought that was extreme. Well...38 years later it finally gave out and actually if we wanted to replace the grates (again) and couple other things I think it will still work. Not to bad of investment--right? So he told me recently that I could get another grill. Instead I think this will replace the grill. It's more practical and I think less of a chance of the food being over cooked--if you get my drift. However, I burned the first 2 items I cooked on the Ninja--its fast! There were no instructions for chicken quarters so I Winged it--lol! My concern with this new version or my new single lid being 3 versions behind already is the pressure ring. This ring is quite difficult to put on and it's on for all cooking and I wonder how long it will last. Also the whole cooking lid is open to all the other food odors and concerned about that with pressure cooking. The older model pressure lid came off for easy cleaning and less heat wear on ring. I have a few more days to chew on this to see if I need to return the unmentioned OL500. Thank you for the comparison video it helps. I gave up on an Instant Pot as there are too many models and seen not so perfect food come out of presets. That's what I like about the Ninja is it's manual for the most part and your not boxed in. I just hope the electronics have longevity. Wished I had seen your video a few days ago. I'm not sure what models I would have searched for anyways as it seems there are more than the 2 you've shown for single lid and that doesn't make it easy and for someone new to try and match recipes to a model to learn.
@TheSaltedPepper2 жыл бұрын
I agree, there are so many models it is confusing. You can buy the basket for the OL500 on the Ninja site, just get the one for the OP305 and it will fit. I also agree with all of your other points. I will say, the ring gets easier to remove after you do it a few times. You don't have to use the ring during any of the cooking functions except pressure cooking, but I leave mine in usually.

I ordered the 601 version and less than a week after I ordered it, they introduced the 701 version. I was so irritated with Ninja because I would have gotten the upgraded model if I had known it was coming out. But I really do like the version that I have. The sous vide works really well, as does the slow cook setting in addition to all of the other features, and I love having only 1 lid.

My husband is retiring in 2 weeks and yesterday his boss told him that the company was going to give him a gift of his choice up to £300. So he asked my husband what he would like. My husband couldn't think of any thing he wanted and everything his boss suggested my husband wasn't interested in. All of a sudden his boss says what about a newer Ninja Foodi? ( he is always talking about the stuff I am making in the one he got me for Christmas last year)And my husband said yes! Then calls to tell me to pick out the one I want and send him the details. Thank you for this video. Well done! One of my concerns with the one lid is how dirty, greasy the air crisp lid gets on the older model makes me think that the grease, mess will "drip" into your food when pressure cooking/steaming. Does that make sense? I know when I clean my air crisp lid on my older model I use the steam function and the amount of grime that drips is what makes me think that would happen when using the newer model and on lid. Of course, it does appear that with the new model it would be a lot easier to clean and you won't have that grime build up.

There aren't as many places for the grease to "hide" and the lid stays pretty clean, but I've only used it a handful of times.

I wonder the same thing, but so far (and it hasn't been that long like you said) there isn't any sign of that happening. I do leave the lid up to dry for a bit after PC'ing or you could always run a short broil or AC time to dry it faster.

I have been lurking on all your videos as I have been preparing to get a ninja foodi… didn’t know the new models released and got a smaller older model just to try it out. BEST CHICKEN I have EVER made! You now how a new survivor for life, and at some point I will be upgrading! Thank you for all the reviews and recipes, you’re the best!

Louise, you do such a great job explaining all these machines for us. Thank you for that! When I heard Ninja was coming out with new models I was interested, but now that I see them I'm happy to stick with my current foodi. I don't really consider this an "upgrade" at all. For me, the cool features (probe, hands free release) aren't worth putting up with the odd noise it makes, and the sheer size of the machine, not to mention the outrageous cost of the new model.
@TheSaltedPepper3 жыл бұрын
They are very pricey! As far as size goes, they are the same. The noise is pain and I still enjoy cooking with my 6.5qt!

@@TheSaltedPepper Well made vid! I have been seeing Ninja Foodi products coming out with new releases within year or two of a new product. In your opinion should I wait to purchase the product until a year or so has passed in case they release another newer version. I hate to spend on so much money just to see another version come out with just function I would love to have. But now I can't afford, since purchasing the now older. Thanks for your answer, ahead of time.

Amazing detailed review covering what happens inside lid when each of the 3 modes are selected and also the cleaning and maintenance suggestions. I’ve not invested yet, but as I like to make the occasional sour dough bread this latest device looks like it has the flexibility with the proving and steam bake facility. Also looking forward to trying your exciting recipes soon - The beef stew looks fabulous!! 👍

What an amazing and thorough review!!! I thank you SO much. I have the 8 Qt 11 in 1 Foodi and am absolutely satisfied with everything about it. The probe and auto release on newest model sounds nice, but after seeing everything you have showed - I'm not upgrading. 🙂 1. I love the ease of cleaning pressure cook lid in dishwasher. As well as attaching seal, etc. while lid is off. 2. The noise of newest model does not seem pleasant. 3. Most everything can still be done in older model, that newest model does. 4. You reminded me I have a steam (water) catching drawer, that I've never checked!! 😳🥴😂 Thank you again for such an amazing review! #NinjaFoodi'sRock!

Great review, Louise! I watched you do the live full chicken one and I guess that was the 601. I was like, "I don't need to upgrade". However, after you showed the 701 with the probe and then showed the delayed release (which I always use Alexa to help with that and listening very carefully for the beep), I'm like, "hubby, I know a great Xmas gift". With that delayed release or automatic release functions, I could see me cooking the food ahead of time and doing errands. Just let it do the releasing and keep warm and it's ready when we are ready to eat. Really love that!!! Thanks again!! Hope the house hunting is going well.

I just bought and the returned a OL601 and then got a FD401. the reason , I dont believe I want a fryer lid when Im using the pressure cooker as its will get dirty and the particles will drop into the food. Its just gross for me to see that lid. the pressure cooker lid ( on a FD401) can be easily cleaned where as the fryer lid ( which will be the everything lid ) on the OL701 and 701 is just impossible to clean IMHO. As an additional bonus it was just about half the price.

I got the Ninja Foodi 10 in 1 last year, and I love it, use it almost every day. But I will give one warning. For whatever reason, they built that particular version so that it was not as deep as other 6.5 qt versions, so many accessories for other versions won’t fit the 10 in 1. And because they came out almost immediately with the 11 in 1, they didn’t bother to MAKE accessories for the 10 in 1. So I don’t like the fact that they keep coming out with new versions, especially when the inner parts may not work from one unit to the next. You may, like I did, find you have a version that has very limited support. These new versions have a lot of great improvements, though, especially the “easier to clean” part and the hands free pressure release.
@TheSaltedPepper3 жыл бұрын
That's interesting. I wasn't aware that they ever made a 10 in 1, do you mind telling me the model number so I can look into that. I have always thought all of the 6.5qts were the same size.
@lkayh3 жыл бұрын
@@TheSaltedPepper It’s OS301. You can still get them on Amazon, but not direct from Ninja (if you search, a thumbnail comes up but then if you click, you get an error page). When I first got it, I went looking for accessories, and there were none on the Ninja Kitchen site so I called. I was told anything that fits the OP301 would fit mine, but when I needed a new grill rack, I ordered one for the OP 301 and the lid wouldn’t close. I called again and they told me that what the rep had said before was not true, and then sent me (I think) a rack for the 5 qt (much smaller diameter but it fits in the pot). I just went looking to see if I could get a new inner pot for the OS301, as after almost daily use for a year the one I have is getting scratched up, but no dice. Check the Ninja Kitchen site and you’ll see that if you look for accessories for the OS301, you also get an error page. It’s like they want to pretend that model never existed. LOL.

@@TheSaltedPepper I am seriously considering springing for the XL with thermometer, but it really is pretty huge. I am only cooking for 1 (2 at most) so I don’t need that big an appliance. But it still beats heating up your whole kitchen with the regular oven and I really like the new features and the ability to clean the lid. Anyway, I’m going to wait and see if they come out with a line of accessories for that version-apparently if they don’t it’s a red flag that the model won’t be supported for long. 🥴

Sorry...one more question. I'm a little confused on the 'hands free pressure release." So if we set a delay, then we don't have to move the vent lever over? The Foodi will release the rest of the pressure on its own? And if we keep it in "natural release " mode, we DO have to vent it ourselves, correct?
@TheSaltedPepper3 жыл бұрын
If you set the delay release, the Foodi will count down the time and then release the pressure and you don't have to move the valve to release. If you do a full natural release, then the pin will drop when all the pressure is released and you don't have to move the valve because there is nothing left to vent. Hope that helps!

I just ordered the 8 quart model 601. A couple of reasons for upgrading - I struggle with getting the pressure lid on and locked on my older version - going from pressure lid to fryer lid is hard as I have a small kitchen and have to find somewhere to put lid - I should have bought 8 quart to begin as I like to batch cook and freeze. As a diabetic I find if I batch cook and have healthy meals available, I have better control. It was on flex pay and a good price.

Return your 601 and exchange for the the OL 701, if the store has it, otherwise, get the money back, and buy on Amazon the OL 701. It's 360, plus tax and shipping $25. I had to put up the the shipping cost. I could not find in any store, even at ninja website. Take a mussle man with you and a cart, because it's heavy, heavy, I had to remove the box, and the pots, to make lighter, and still heavy the machine. If comes from Amazon, ask the driver to place it on your counter or on a table.

I'm late to this party, but this is great information! I've had an Instant Pot since 2016 and also a separate air fryer and for a while, the air fryer lid for the older instant pot. Several weeks ago I somewhat impulse purchased Instant Pot's new Ultimate Pro Crisp One lid - although IP's version has a pressure cooker insert that you remove to air fry. At any rate, I have been watching many of your videos as I transition to using multiple functions to cook multiple foods together ... and started learning differences with the Ninja line. I am a 1 human household and work from a home office (for 37 years :) ... not just COVID). I used your Hasselback potato recipe last night and on today's menu is Ribs with Raspberry glaze except I made it cherry because that's what I had. Loving videos and blog!!
