Most times people enjoy giving more than they receive. However, we also need to learn to receive. I was not a great receiver before, but when I learnt that refusing to receive help/gifts/money/meals etc, it means I'm robbing someone of the joy of giving too. A good balance of both helps us to become more empathetic as a person I find, because you now know both sides of the fence.

One day, there was a mighty blizzard outside and our cleaning lady came covered in snow. Since the could not afford a car and nobody could drive her she walked about three hours to my house. When she showed up at the door covered in snow my dad asked her why she came to work and she said that she desperately needed the money. Since my dad was in the market for a new car, he gave her our car for free. He took off the plates and told her to have her brother help her with the paperwork.

Thank you for these videos. I am currently teaching my kids virtues and today's lesson is generosity vs greed. It is difficult to find resources that aren't faith based. Those are fine, but I want my kids to want to be good people for the collective good of their fellow man, not because it pleases God.
