Pilots are not supposed to land unless they can clearly see a runway. But on February 10, 2011, the pilots of Manx2 Flight 7100 tried to do just that-not once, not twice, but three times.

It's seriously comforting when you see a passenger being interviewed in these videos. At least you know that someone survived. RIP to all the people who have passed away in plane crashes. Although your death is unfortunate, we do learn how to not repeat any more aviation mistakes from these crashes. PS: If I see a 'At least the cameraman survived' comment, I will literally scream, I swear

Tbf, the cameraman did survive, so that's a good thing.

@@joecrammond6221 That's too bad, but it's gratifying that at least some people survived the crash. In the video, it looked like a total loss-of-life event, complete destruction. . Joe, thanks very much for posting this info. I couldn't find any such info in the video or anywhere else.

Both crew suffered fatigue and ended up overworking without enough sleep. And the left engine ended up with too much power, and didn't even report this mechanical problem. Also poor airline management caused this crash

The cardinal rule that they broke was that the captain took control of the power - this should NEVER happen especially in marginal conditions when landing. The F/O should've been the one controlling the power, as he's the one conducting the approach. By taking the power levers into his own hands, the captain took away vital input control from his F/O which is why the 3rd landing attempt resulted in disaster. This is on top of the fact that neither pilot was anywhere near competent enough to have been certified to be up in the nose of that Metro-3, neither had more than a couple hundred hours of flight time, and the airline was incredibly loose on its hiring requirements.

Wow, that just compounds the tragedy. Best wishes to the survivors and much sympathy to the friends and relatives of the victims.
