Had it fixed in 3 hours), World of Tanks/ Warships (It took me a couple of replies saying their copy and paste trouble shooting didn't work and they managed to get my issues resolved in about 5 days), and Steam (My phone got broken and had to have Steam Guard disabled, had it fixed in about a day).

Back in 2004/2005 the company was so introverted it was ridiculous. We’re still in the wake of that. Think about it. How many other MMOs have you seen where scammed items, hacked items, and items lost to bugs are not reimbursed? Even Blizzard reimburses, but not Jagex. They have always been a deeply incompetent company when it comes to customer relations, and their substandard customer service and refusal to acknowledge it as such is irrefutable proof.

I was falsey banned for a "macro minor" offense in 2013 while playing OSRS. I logged in and discovered I was banned for 2 weeks. I complained about it to Mod Weath who must have looked at it because the offense said "quashed" in my offense history. I use zero 3rd party clients for account security reasons. I have also never botted in my life. I have never RWT. I have never done anything on any accounts. It pisses me off that this ban still shows up in my offense history when it was quashed and a false ban. Someone like me who follows the rules....it bothers me when this is in my offense history and its false. False bans do happen. I know how easy it is for people to not believe all these people that complain about a false ban, but some of those people are actually telling the truth.

But I feel you dude. An acc I use to play on has been banned for 10 years. Ban had a 10 year timer and when 10 years was up the timer reset to another 10 years... lol.

If the accounts were banned more than 3 years ago there's a very good chance that you can get them unbanned by going to the ban appeal page (just google jagex ban appeal) and filling out the information. Takes 2 minutes.

Back when I was a kid and playing runescape in 2007, I was tricked into giving my password to someone. I went to football practice and when I got back, my account was banned for bad language and verbally attacking others. My dad emailed Jagex and told them what happened and the permanent ban was lifted almost immediately. Im not sure why there is so much of a discrepancy from then to now. Runescape has exploded in popularity again, but their customer support isn't nearly as good as it was back in the day.

Im so glad you brought light to this topic. My irl friends account (which was 126 cb and 95 slayer and high total lvl) got locked because it was thought to be stolen. He tried for months and months to get it looked into or reversed and when he finally got a reply from a mod after creating a Twitter account to contact one, he was told there was nothing they could do about it. He put literally thousands of hours into this account and to have it mean so little to jagex is so discouraging... needless to say my friend switched to other games and quit osrs for good. Jagex literally has the WORST customer service of amy game I've ever heard of. Its pathetic

Let's forget the problem that multi logging brings to Runescape (Both versions). We don't need to have that conversation yet. False bans are a problem for everyone, regardless of how many accounts you're playing and that needs to be sorted. they KNOW their system is flawed, yet don't bother trying to fix it.

They face false bans more often because of how they play, but the solution for both cases is absolutely better support

I got a macro ban today and can't reach anyone. I know nobody knows me here in the comment section but I assure you I was not botting. It feels like someone killed my inner child. There is no coming back to this game I've played since 2006 after seeing this first-hand. My osrs name was:Slay Ah Lot, feel free to look up my stats from this 3ish year old account. This was my 4th account built from scratch as I've quit since 2006 and rebuilt on coming back. FUCK COMING BACK. I made 4 new accounts solely for woodcutting, I had them in a box of four on a side screen and did it all manually (very repetitive) and I woke up the following day and 3 of them were banned. It's like you're not allowed to play a certain way because they can't distinguish the difference between a robotic style of play and an actual bot, so therefor you're guilty by default.

To be fair, not everyone puts themselves into situations where a personal experience like this is possible, you could argue that Crumb is somewhat like a journalist, he is actually putting himself at risk in ways none of us ever would in order to tell a story, lets be real here, how many people actually use a VPN for security and privacy vs the number who use it to watch American netflix somewhere else? for the most part, the scripts and/or talking points these VPN providers send to youtubers and other influencrs cover the regular usage of their service by the broader public. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely cool to hear a personal experience like that and a good example of how VPN's for some people, can be extremely important, but for the vast majority, its people who are paranoid about their isp tracking them and people who want to bypass geoblocking on websites, and you know what, that's cool too.

Sextafa I disagree, while it was real person reviewing the case, it was very much a lottery that the correct person willing to look at your case read the email you sent. I received wrongful ban for macroing/goldfarming, it took over a year and several emails before a person at Jagex read the email after several declines to help, he look at my account that had 'no appeal ban' and said oh, i will return your account because you dont seem to have previous history of rule breaking. Implying i was banned rightfully and him removing my 'no way to appeal' ban was just out of his kind heart and not because this would give him a reason not to refund the year of membership i had on that account and that was completely wasted due to false ban. At that time i wasnt going to argue about it, i got my account back i had made in 03, thats all that mattered.

I assume you are paying Jagex real money for each individual account (subscriptions or in-game purchases) and consumer protections in Europe, the UK, Australia, NZ & elsewhere demand that businesses have adequate customer support & refund processes. Thankfully I’ve never had to deal with a ban appeal on RS, but I have had to deal with one in WoW and from what I’ve seen about RS ban appeals it’s a wildly different experience. My main WoW account got hacked, they sold off everything they could from my account, then botted the account for about 8 hours before my friend logged in, tried to talk to me, realized it wasn’t me playing, and he contacted game support to get my account locked until I could put in a ticket about it once he alerted me to the situation. I got my account recovered and opened a ticket about my lost items. It took maybe 10-15 minutes of talking for them to rollback my account to my last confirmed logout state, which returned all my items and gold to the last point before my account was taken over and botted, and they also just left all the botted materials on my account. It didn’t even wipe that stuff, all it did was recover the stuff that was lost which included rare and unobtainable items that you could no longer get at that point in the game. It was incredibly stressful and scary at first because I didn’t know if my account would get unlocked, and if it was unlocked I didn’t know if I’d get my stuff back, but all my fears were dismissed as soon as I started talking to customer support and within about 30 minutes I was back to playing on my account as if nothing had happened. That’s a pretty stark contrast compared to what I’ve seen and heard about RS customer support.

Noone ever belives me about this, but my account got falsely banned for "Macroing". what happened was (I assume this is what they detected) that i were walking to work, playing on mobile. it was raining. due to a semi bad phone at the time, the droplets were clicking on the screen, everywhere. i shut down the phone asap, since it was messing up the game. when i tried to log on in my lunch break, i were banned. Thank you so much for making this vid crumb. I was also falsely banned on my maxed ironman for macroing (only for 2 days tho) and the scary thing is that I didn't even multilog. Another thing which might trigger the ban is when using customized client. I edited the source code of RL to remap the ALT key (highlight key) to control since I use ALT to move camera. And no, there's no plugins at all atm to change that and yes i know i can use middle mouse but i hate using that. I have very similar experience than ppl in this video. Ban appeal in OSRS reddit is forbidden, they get automatically removed if it has for example a word "ban" in there. If u get around it tho, they very rarely gets upvotes because no one believes you and, if it does, it often gets removed by moderators. And i noticed too, the ban appeal system in RS website is absolutely horrible. I've heard the most chances for unban is to select "I admit I macroed and regret it" and not to tell Jagex they were the one making a mistake. And yes, there's no text boxes which is soo bad. I also did reddit post while avoiding the automatic removal and it got like 10 upvotes and no replies by jmod. Then sent a loong email to Jagex explaining reasons why false bans might be triggered with no reply of course. This is a real problem, and it has been hidden from mainstream for a loong time, that's why you making this video is really good.

I am testing the limits and also playing with 9 accounts at the same time. So far no bans, but that stacking client method is huge red flag. Since you click on the same spot on all the clients but definitely Jagex needs to step up their false bans support.

The possible theory that I have is that a certain number of bots, that makes Jagex's anti-cheat thinks that the person is botting. Edit: It maybe due to a client that the person is using.

This problem still persists; mistaking multi-logging for macroing. Over the last month or so I was playing on 5 to 10 F2P accounts at once for the fun and challenge of it. I wanted to potentially use them for GE bulk buying, requiring me to remove the trade restrictions (10 QP, 100 total, 20 hours in game). I was within 4 hours of meeting the final requirements to access unrestricted trade, passing most of the time with crafting gold amulets and making decent money out of it, too. Unfortunately a group of 5 accounts was banned first, only 1 of which had the appeal accepted and unbanned. This convinced me that the appeal process is randomized and they don’t actually take a look at the account. My accounts were named in an alphabetical sequence, so if they manually looked at it, they would have noticed the pattern and unbanned all 5, not just 1. Now 15 more accounts have been falsely banned and I just submitted appeals again, doubtful more than 1 or 2 will succeed if even that much. If they had actually looked at my accounts they would see that each one only moves one at a time, one after the other, and that it was fully manual. But they just do automated bans off of suspicion or appearance and not actual proper bot detection. They just ban and unban willy-nilly on a whim. There’s a lot of Reddit posts of top hiscores on boss KCs which are full of bot-looking accounts, yet rarely banned. Let’s not forget the special treatment that big-name players such as Ronan, Solo Mission, EVScape, and Lynx Titan have received when falsely banned and fortunately unbanned afterwards. The average player doesn’t have the social media presence in the situation of a false ban to get it overturned.

I also got 2 accounts banned, one of them being a F2p ironman.. Both for macroing major, out of nowhere as well. The other account barely had any stats trained! Only like 50 fishing and 60 cooking or something. It is ridiculous, best is to kick this Runescape addiction and find another hobby. Atleast for me, i can't keep playing and putting time into this with the risk of being banned whenever they feel like it.

I started an Ironman and quested it for 2 days, they perma banned the account and the only "Support" I got was them saying "We know you cheated and we can't discuss this any further". I don't care about a 2 day old account but I also have a maxed main that I'm scared to play because of this. Jagex's anti-cheating system can "Catch" me playing my 2 day old account but can't detect level 99 Master Farmers, MLM Miners or RCers etc? Their system is trash and they know it, there's a screenshot of EVscape being wrongly banned and in the content creator discord a Jmod replying something along the lines of "I've unbanned you, imagine if you weren't a streamer lol" Also if you post on Reddit everyone tells you you definitely cheated and a Jmod will give you a "smackdown" which involves them pretending their system actually works.

I unsubscribed from Runescape. Jagex has minecraft bedrock levels of support. I'm pretty sick of the lack of support Jagex has about what could only be described as power abuse. I had an experience with being falsely banned. A friend of mine lent me 69m to flip with in order to be able to buy bonds for my main account (my ironman). I did nothing on that account but sit at the GE and flip. After about a week and a half I had nearly doubled the money lent to me and was getting ready to pay back my friend. The flipping alt was banned for Macro'ing Major. I played it almost exclusively while also playing on my ironman. Both accounts were played from the same client (runelite), and with no help from any 3rd party programs (or even mousekeys). My ironman was not banned. I tried for a few days to get help on twitter and through submitting an appeal, nothing. Ended up having to start from scratch to make back the money that my friend had lent me. It was a very disheartening experience, and my opinion of Jagex was significantly diminished. I'm just glad it was only a week and a half of work that I lost and not more.
