My favorite part is that she's using her pretty privilege to help bring attention to the issue. She's conventionally attractive, so people are more inclined to stop and actually listen to her. If someone who wasn't conventionally attractive did this, people would just think they're whining and would probably not be as receptive. I have so much respect for this woman

The way I look at pretty privilege is a blessing and a curse, its a blessing because you probably feel more confident in certain clothing, going out, and maybe certain opportunities as well but it’s a curse growing dealing with random girls being hateful to you for no reason, your friends sabotaging you, stalkers and men in general being very creepy. Honestly I can say I appreciate it much more as adult because now I know where I stand with people, and can stick up for myself. Although growing up a lot of the time I think it harder bc sometimes blending in, people are less likely to deal with negative shit.

When I entered a room everyone is greeting me or complimenting me. They would call me in to join conversations. If I am being loud we all start laughing and then we all are loud. And if I asked them a question they would answer politely and if I looked at them and they look at me back we would smile. And btw this was how the same people changed. I'm talking about the same people before and after my glow up. So don't tell me pretty privilege isnt real. PRETTY PRIVILEGE IS REAL. They could've been nice when I was not so attractive but they WEREN'T. This does not only happen in this circle but also in my everyday surroundings, can't help but compare my previous experiences and now. Like seriously people can't argue.PRETTY PRIVILEGE IS REAL!

My ex best friend had a huge glow-up and now she has pretty privilege, and she's the exact opposite, hence *ex* best friend. She's a narcissist and constantly uses her prettiness to get away with everything. As example, I would say I don't get crushes often, but I do get crushes easily and when I do, I get really attached to them, I have BPD so I even tend to get codependent over the person I adore. Now, I've had three crush in total in my highschool years. A, a boy from my class who her and I were both friends with. I had a crush on him since my first year there and, since we were best friends, she knew exactly, she wasn't particularly "pretty" (by societies standards) back then, but later that year she had her huge ass glow-up, and I'm talking from us both being like a 5 to her being a 9, she's really godamn attractive now, and after she got her massive glow-up she, suddenly, started crushing on him too, I didn't think much of it at first since she was my best friend and I didn't think she'd actually make moves on my crush, well, summer holidays were there and when they were over, I come back to school after being in the hospital (where she didn't visit nor texted me at all throughout, which I thought was weird) and boom! They're holding hands and being all in love right in my face, I cried my eyes out for a few days and had to stay at home because my mental health was shitting me on, but eventually got back to school. I had another crush on a guy, but we weren't really friends, I was attached to him though, and guess what? Yeah, it all started with "Guess who was staring at me in class today? Right, your crush!" And after I told her I lost interest in him (which was partially true) it ended two days later with "We had a date today, he totally loved me, but hm I think he just isn't my type really." Then, after some time, I had another crush, let's call her L. L and I were really close friends, we were in the same class and we sat next to eachother the whole years. I told my bestfriend all about her, she knew how much she meant to me, and yet, she tried to take her from me again. BUT I was fed up with my bestfriends shit so before she could do anything, I asked L out, and she said yes! Me and L were together for over 2 years, and I was so in love with her, I would call her my first real love, and until now, my only, throughout our relationship my bestfriend was not herself, she was so mad about the fact that her pretty privilege didn't work on L that she totally left me to rot, so we didn't talk for almost a year, but, as heavily depended as I was on her, I truly loved L, even more than my narcissistic best friend. Eventually me and L broke up though, not because of my best friend, but because of my shitty mental state, hey, I get it, but it was the worst heartbreak I've ever experienced, so bad even that my mental health got so bad that I had to be locked up in a psych ward throughout my birthday in october, christmas, new years eve, valentines day, eastern and almost another of my birthdays. Moral of the story, watch out for (pretty) people who are narcissists, especially if you have BPD, NPD and BPD go hand in hand, polar opposites attract, so narcissists love borderliners, like with me and her.

It was so strange for me to realize I had pretty privilege. I grew up in a small village so the people around me knew me since forever so I never really got benefited from pretty privilege, I wasn't considered the pretty girl, I was more of just the smart kid and kinda bullied too. I was super insecure so I never really realised I fit the beauty standard. When I got to highschool it became more clear that some people found me attractive but my mental health really fluctuated and my confidence too. I always felt like I could never shine or be the first choice when with my friends (because people would either always hit on them, not me, or because they'd talk about how they think someone likes them). Really only after another girl hit on me I realized I was actually fairly attractive lol Now I do see it really clearly because strangers at my job always treat me with more patience and respect when they see me vs when they only hear my voice, so it is really clear that it is a thing, even when my confidence makes me feel otherwise.

Its good to work on yourself. But not everyone is gonna be in the mental space to work on their looks all the time, or have other stressors. Or theyre working on it but it takes time. That doesnt excuse people deciding how to treat a person based on their appearance. Thats the same way people could for example treat people of different races differently just based on appearances even if they arent racist per se. Its all douchebag behaviour.

People who have always been pretty don’t realize they have the privilege cause they’ve always lived like that, it’s the basic “standard” that they know. Someone who is considered “unattractive” or “ugly” by society’s standards doesn’t get treated the same as a “pretty” person who has that privilege, as depressing and messed up as that is.

100%. After my glow up during the pandemic I started getting a lot more attention out in public from both men and women. But I still remember how scary it was to even approach strangers in public and try to spark a convo or get a number or a date. So when people start flirting with or hitting on me I always try to let them down easy and show respect for the fact they even tried. Pretty privilege is 10000000% real. I used to be super overweight growing up. Up until about a year ago when I got my shit together and now I’m pretty. When I would wait to cross the street I’d have to sit for ages until there was randomly a gap in the cars so that I can run across. Now I’ll stand at the side and wait for a couple seconds before a car will just stop and let me cross. I’ve been allowed to cut lines by guys when before that was unheard of for me. My bf even jokes about it. We were struggling to get an Uber because we had our dogs with us so he told me to use my “pretty privilege” whilst he waited round the corner with our dogs. I asked the driver and he was completely fine with it (bare in mind we had messaged and called a good 10 drivers before this) maybe he was just nice but idk. It sucks sometimes because I think back to my old self and how I never would’ve been treated how I am now.

Since childhood until the age of 22 I was attractive and had a lot of attention from guys and people always commented about how gorgeous I am. Then I suffered from intense physical and mental health problems and for the past 3 years I started looking more and more "ugly". I gained weight around my waist and stomach while my legs didn't (my shape became weird), I started getting acnes and scars, my skin color became yellowish, my hair thining and I look ill overall. Now I noticed people are mean to me. when I go to restaurant they always put me in a table far from people and when I ask for help for example from an employer in a shop or at the hair salon they act annoyed by me, roll their eyes and sigh, never smile or just ignore me when I talk to them and even their services to me is done in bad way.

After I turned 40 I’ve been mistaken for a doctor multiple times when I’m at a hospital and when I’m shopping the salespeople come to me with all their problems and it turns into a counseling session and they want all the advice I can give them. When I was younger my opinions didn’t matter much to anyone and back then people would tell me I looked like a model to my face but then would say that I was a dumb blonde behind my back. But now people want me to tell them what to do with their lives. It’s weird. I used to always get called ugly growing up and was bullied a lot as well. I even experienced SA too from guys, in 8th grade. So the one day in middle school when a girl called me pretty, it honestly made my day. But I still continued to get bullied constantly for my looks in middle school and early highschool, so my self esteem hit rock bottom and I developed an ED, Depression, and body dismorphia as a result. But in my 10th grade year of highschool people started to suddenly treat me quite differently, which honestly just confused me. I didn't feel like they were being genuine with their compliments, I just thought they were just trying to be nice and not hurt my feelings. So I would constantly shut down any compliments I received even subconsciously cause I didn't really know how to accept them. I was so used to being alone, ignored, and called ugly that I didn't know how to really respond to people paying attention to me or giving me compliments. I get hit on a lot by guys recently, and I still occasionally have a few people call me ugly, (but that's besides the point) so yes pretty privilege does actually exist even if we hate to admit that it does.

I am now bullied for not being any of those things, while she is now seen as the beauty standard because she’s “curvy” & “thicc”. The roles completely reversed. The beauty standard went from being a skinny, white, blond “petite” living mannequin to a thicc girl with impossible curves. NOBODY’S BODY TYPE SHOULD EVER BE A TREND. We need to stop having “trending” bodies.

My story only by the time curves and thickness were “in” I was too old to be hot . Very annoying. And the older generations never let go of the standards they had growing up anyway . Body types should not be a trend , exactly.

omg i can see myself so much in this, when i grew up (born 2004) we always compared who has a gap between their thighs for example that was around 2016/-18 when we started to compare bodies, periods, beauty etc. and i always felt bad because i dont have a slim figure like my overall frame, i was a bit chubby :3 at that time but still i cant get a gap between my thighs even being completely healthy and fit 🏃 maybe only if im underweight 👀 now i have deep talk with guys (or gurls) that told me that they actually think my thighs are really attractive and i was like??? huh really? for context thicc isnt (or wasnt) such a big thing in europe if you compare it to the USA, latin countries or balkan countries, but now also here i guess which really suprised me how fast it can change i didnt even notice that development which is quite insane and scary tho but out of this i learned not to mind anymore as long as im healthy because its gonna change anyway and i dont have to go with the beauty standards its stress for nothing

True! I was fat and ugly before then had a glow up in college then gained weight again during the pandemic then lost weight post pandemic--people treat you differently depending on the way you look.

Pretty privilege isn't real its mostly how you present yourself and if you show up looking like a 40 yr old mom in her fucking pajamas ofc nobody is going to want to talk with you or even look at you You have to go out of your way to look good and for people to like you if you are "Ugly" First off find your haircut I swear to god if your haircut isn't right then ofc you have no chance impressing anybody and if you are out of shape go to the damn gym I don't know how tf you think your special but being in shape is not pretty privilege its just that nobody likes fat fucks and even pretty people workout and your not special and warts and acknee can be fixed with creams and stuff but yall ugly people just exscpet to be treated the same as swomebody who goes out of their way to look good. And I swear every good looking person goes out oof their way to look good it doesn't matter what they tell you they will probably lie and tell you its natural but There is effort in being attractive

@@tyjk8964look up calorie calculator and type in your exact height and weight. For example, I am 6 foot and used to be 290 pounds. Calorie calculator said I needed about 3000 calories per day to maintain my weight 2000 calories per day to lose one pound per week and 1700 calories per day to lose 2 pounds per week. This is what people mean when they say they are on a calorie deficit. It absolutely worked for me I am now 165 pounds and feel amazing. However, the less you weigh the less your calorie intake should be. For example, at my current height of 6 foot and weight of 165 pounds it would be about 2500 calories per day to maintain my weight 1700 calories per day to lose one pound a week and 1500 calories per day to lose 2 pounds a week. You can try other methods such as a keto diet ,which means you cut out almost all carbs ,but it’s harder to keep track of and there are many weird ingredients in many processed foods that will counteract ketosis. I have also heard ketosis can cause severe headaches for the first month of a minimal carb diet. So, I would absolutely recommend the calorie deficit. It seems like results are much quicker as well.

I know this reply is like a damn book at this point LOL ,but I just wanted to mention the importance of protein in a calorie deficit. The minimal amount of protein in grams to get is .73 multiplied by the amount you weigh. For example, i weigh 165 pounds which means I should try to get at least 120 grams of protein within my allotted amount of calories for the day. So the best way to do this (especially on a calorie deficit) is finding the lowest calorie highest protein ratio in the food that you eat. For example, grilled chicken, broccoli, turkey, egg whites, and yogurt are all great low calorie foods with high amount of protein and they all happen to leave you fairly satiated as well. Protein will help you keep and even build some muscle on a calorie deficit ,but if you are not worried about lifting don’t over complicate it. Just stick to your calorie deficit. Change your habits and your body will change itself. If you actually read this I hope it helped lol. Good luck!!!

@@slimshadyfoeva333Just want to add on a tiny bit of extra info here. 1lb in a week = 500kcal deficite 2lbs in a week = 1000kcal deficite. A calculator isn't always accurate, as the base metabolic rate varies depending on genetics, and it generally only shows the average. A slow metabolism can be a full 300kcal lower than the average, and a fast one 300kcal higher, though you likely have hormonal imbalances if its anything more than that, and should see a doctor for it

Also the "pretty girls have no true friends because every other girl is jealous of her" is BS. All my friends were beautiful in highschool and college, ive also stayed in several girls hostel and i know very well they were treated really nice. The prettiest girl were showered with compliments often even by us girls. So whenever i see pick me girls talking about how no girl likes them because of their beauty i just 🙄 Pretty girls get pretty privilege from both genders because we girls literally fawn over other pretty girls all the time

As someone who's been bullied and called ugly all throughout middle school, I felt this deep in my soul 😔 I've been treated as and called 'annoying' more times than I can count.
