to stabilize the velvet while working with it : use two paper spring clamps, string and some weights, tie the clamp and weight together with the string and using both clamps, one on each side, clamp the weight on opposite ends of the fabric and drape the weights off of the end of the table. Should help stabilize the velvet while you are working an edge (marking, cutting, pining)

@Casey Renee Cosplay idk what it is either but I love it, whenever I get into historical sewing, I want to take this Barbie dress but make it 1890s, and I'm thinking replacing the sequins either with chains, pearls, or lace

I was born in 91, but the holiday Barbies that stole my heart was 1996 and 1997. I kept them in the box, and still think about her at times lol…I considered them the same women at different events as a kid. This inspired me to do something about her, craft something in her honor because those Holiday Barbies really we’re a piece of art that inspired me for much of my life! Thank you ❤

I was born in 1991! Huzzah! You did such an amazing job as always. I love watching your videos. I learn so much. And I really respect that you don’t try to hide mistakes or hiccups along the way. You just go over how you deal with them and what should be done differently. I think this is essential for learning and teaching and I wish more cosplayers would leave those bits in. It’s good to know what to do when things go right, but it’s just as important to know how to avoid and fix things going off course.

I had this Barbie as a kid!! No idea what happened to it, I think it ended up being sold when finances got hard :( The dress looks lovely! The thing on not everything going well is learning how to do it better the next time~

I was working from an actual doll..and its like do whatever you need to make it work because the dolls upclose..are pretty sloppy. Like mine they just made..HALF a petticoat..just in the front..what?

Yeah, I don't own the doll so I was going off of images but I also don't really go for accuracy per say, just close enough

Stupid question, but how does one put a bone inside a dart?

The same way you put it inside a boning channel, it's just shorter and the dart has to be hide enough for the bone. It's pretty common in fitted Victorian jackets.
