We mostly see Picard in command situations with a well trained crew or social situations where his rank doesn't mean anything. But sometimes we see his leadership with individuals and groups who aren't obligated by oath to follow him (think when he was kidmapped with the warrior, pacifist and ensign). And the writing in these episodes is really good. The way Picard shows respect for this captain with "You're an able pilot, I value your input" to stroke his ego and deescalate the conflict between him and Wesley, but also being decisive, even if it means just taking his belongings. Picard just handles himself in a very believable way.

Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning it increases the amount of water your body eliminates through your urine. Normally, as you become dehydrated your pituitary gland releases a hormone that causes your body to start retaining more water, helping to reverse any dehydration.

Riker could have evacuated all non essential personnel to the saucer section, separate and have what people remain in the star-drive wear protective clothing and what not instead of risking the entire crew to radiation. They were not using the saucer impulse engines so they had no need for it at the time, no need to risk everybody.
@TheTattorack

Did they have time to do that? That plan is all well and goo, but it takes time to get all those people to the necessary quarters and to distribute all that equipment to the required personnel,
@AlexanderRM1000
@AlexanderRM1000 2 жыл бұрын
There are a *lot* of episodes where separating the saucer section as a matter of course would be a good idea. Might be best to just assume they do it but don't show it for budget reasons in any episodes where it would make sense. Of course what they should really do is have specialized ships- science/exploration vessels, warships, transports, tugboats etc- the reason they're all in one is so they can have a show about the Enterprise, but the saucer separation is a good way to have some of the advantages of that and it's a shame they don't use it more.
@KingdaToro
@KingdaToro 2 жыл бұрын
Really there are two courses of action that make sense here, and both involve saucer separation. If the saucer section is capable of towing the barge on its own, do that and move all nonessential personnel to the drive section, and take the drive section to search for the shuttle. If not, evacuate everyone to the saucer section and remotely control the drive section to tow the barge, while the saucer section maintains a safe distance. I can't think of any reason why the ship wouldn't have this remote control capability.
@KingdaToro
@KingdaToro 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheTattorack It works either way. Generations established that it takes less than 5 minutes to evacuate everyone from the drive section to the saucer. Even if that wasn't enough time, they could begin the tow with the full ship, then separate the saucer during the tow once they're ready.

Compare that to how current generations are more encouraged to express their feelings. You'd have Beverley just flat out tell Troi "Listen, I can't help but worry. These walls are dry.” I guess it would have been too obvious to add, “And those steps at our feet - another sure sign of volcanic activity.” Seriously, was there no one involved in the production of the show who gave two seconds of thought to the logical implications of the details of set design? No one who said, “If these guys enter a cave and see steps carved in the stone of the floor, it will be instantly obvious to all three of them that it means intelligent life has been at work in there. Their remarks will reflect that, and their conduct thenceforward will reflect that realization”?

What is really funny is how upset you are over a tv show and expecting it to be factual according to you. If they're lucky they might even find a refrigerator hooked up to a fusion generator in there somewhere. At very least a hand carved well to go with their hand carved reception area.
