This is actually a bit of a bro move by Martok. He could've just cloaked past DS9 like he had done through all of Federation space and attacked Cardassia. By stopping there he was letting the Federation know something big was about to happen so that they could react to it. Otherwise the first news the Federation would've gotten about the war probably would've been when the Klingons occupied Cardassia itself. It was also a well thought out bro move too. Resting his troops just before an attack is a justifiable excuse to decloak and hand out shore leave. If he had decloaked anywhere else in the Federation Gowron could've accused him of treason. Very clever.

The opening to my favorite Star Trek episode, after Balance of Terror, Journey to Babel, and the Romulan Incident!
@laszlokaestner57663 жыл бұрын
There was one problem with the drill and Odo's assertion that 3hrs 27min was too long to catch him as an actual Changeling could do so much damage in that time. The issue is that Odo spent the time actively trying to evade capture before himself catching Bashir unawares (because the sweeps would have cornered him anyway at that point). All that time running around wouldn't leave any for the Changeling to do the damage Odo is warning about. The very act of actively sweeping the station would keep the Changeling on the move and far less able to carry out whatever their mission was.
@notyou23533 жыл бұрын
True. Not that Odo didn't have good reason to push for better performance, but it's hard to do something when you're busy running away and hiding all the time. They could improve that training by having some notional objectives Do needed to perform that the defenders didn't know about. Like, setup a fake warp core that can be notionally overloaded, have a VIP nearby at the same time, have a cloaked (or notionally cloaked) ship nearby full of boarders pretending to be Jem'Hadar that need a secure airlock to attack from (or shields to drop, or something), etc. Their training was a good start, but not what it could've been.
