ABOUT ME
I’m 33 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city s a Police Officer and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 1200 breeding ewes.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on KZbin and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Since starting The Sheep Game I have met Lizzy and had two incredible boys Jock and Angus. You will see them all on this channel!

I'm guessing the land owner gets more from ESG and carbon credits from leaving the ground bare so losing your tenancy is a big risk in this crazy upside down world where meat is bad and overgrown weedy grassland is good. Good on you guys for buying the farmers sheep for the new project. I pray both your family and the selling farming family have a great future. Feeding good quality and affordable protein to the population of the world is how we get people out of poor health and poverty.

I am so glad you're getting that bump looked at. When I was two I fell, or was pushed, and had two black eyes. As an adult I was told it was that early brake that made me ultimately need surgery to take the bone in my nose out. I had no drainage from my left sinus. I had sinus infections one after the other for over a year.

When my family looks at photos of our son Teddy when he was small, nearly every one sports some evidence of a mishap. Head bumps, nose bumps, a scratch from my rose bushes, and all manner of childhood clumsiness. He’s 23 now - and always laughs as his photos sporting lumps and bumps. Part of being an active child!

It has taken us 16 years to get uniformity (peas in a pod) in our herd of goats. We truly started from scratch(no AI or flushing just natural breeding) It's like we know the secret recipe now. I’m so glad you get to buy what you want. Nice young couple and you get to pay what you need. You guys worked hard to get it but I got an ideal. I bought about 20 years ago and they were called mu and that’s the ear and the inside you know right over the ear and they dried them and my dogs loved him. I bought everything they had that I couldn’t find it no more and the horns on those sheep and their hooves them sell for big money for dogs to chew on big money I buy yellow herbs from the pig pig seers lambs are the same thing, but they call a muffs. Good idea check that out you gotta sell something for the dogs. It would be megs dog stuff.

At times they were hard work having 3 under 3, but they are now men and we are so proud of them all. They really are a credit to us. Although because I was the only daughter with 4 brothers, so it was hard at times. But we are a very close family and always ready to help each other. As long as you teach them respect for others it covers everything, respect their beliefs, respect their friends, respect their property and their boundaries. Bloody great stock! You wouldn’t have gotten them for that price over here in Ireland, now all you need is that the are lucky and that you can keep them in the style that they were reared in! Messing aside great stock and peas in a pod you’d be months trying to put a flock like that together buying in dribs and drabs and you’d never get them as nice or as cheap. Now all Lizzie needs is a good few grand to buy the best rams she can get! You think buying the ewes was stressful! Best of luck with them!

It’s quite funny seeing sheep with tails, here in Australia you won’t see that as the weather and flies don’t allow it. So lambs get docked but more often elastrator rings are used to cut the circulation and the tail falls off same as the testicles.
