Suzuki is obviously a future Captain and he will no doubt be a good one. My only worry is putting too much pressure on him because even though it looks like he handles it well, he is still only 23. I wish Habs fans would stop booing when things are not going well etc. If things go as bad this year as many of us think it will the fans need to stay off Suzuki’s back. I fear if he is Captain and the team is losing, fans will jump on him.He will have a good year, and do the best he can, but he is only one man. As much as all of us want to be in the Bedard sweepstakes, it will be interesting to see how the fans treat the players in the middle of January when we have only won two of the last 13 games. It will be fun to watch the young players and the fans need to lay off the negativity and let the young players develop in a good atmosphere. It’s not about intentionally tanking, it is about being supportive of the young players, letting them play, and treating them with respect and being happy to get a good draft pick. Finishing between 17 and 25 is useless and frustrating. We have done enough of that. Another great episode! Thanks. Stu and Toni, great chemistry!

man you are right problem is we have the best and the worst fans at the same time... i dont think tanking for bedard is the plan... i hope we get our younger players one the roster fast... i would see at least two new defense men this year , we have so many its time we get to make some of them play already...

Tony, you got to go to "Los Montaditos". It's a restaurant with franchises around Spain, almost every neighborhood in Madrid has one. It's the best place to try many different things in small amounts, instead of filling up on just one thing. It's a Great way for tourists to get to eat and drink a big piece of Spain in a small amount of time. For dessert, look for a bakery named "Granier". 🍩 are to die for there. Trust me, you won't be disappointed 😉

Great episode! Love the podcast! I think you make Suzuki captain now because there's no pressure to succeed right now. There's no pressure from the team, the fans or the media. Make him captain now and he gets a couple of years to ease into the role. If you wait until the habs are competitive, then he will be thrown into a pressure situation because expectations will be high.

Great 👍 video 👍 Tony! And Stu is always a good 🐈 cat . This podcast 👌 is sickkkkk!!!!! I think highly of Stu ,but I don't believe it s the right time for Suzuki as captain, but I think they ll give it to him . I like 👍 yourself agree 👍 and I have said this since it s been up for debate. I said Edmonston for his final two years as the buffer . Than let's see who would be the right choice at that point. It also allows us to see all of our young talent as far as their leadership 👏, than you ll actually get it right for the long term captain 👍. I just don't think it's the right move ,but I think they ll give ìt to him anyway . Enjoy your vacation my friend.

I am incredibly optimistic about Nick Suzuki becoming captain and I agree being part of the community is very important in Montréal. I genuinely beileve a modern dynasty is beginning to form. Gallagher could have been a great captain but Shea Webber's presence in the locker room still outweighs his lack of interaction with fans. P.K. was more involved with the fans than most modern players. His relationship with Jean Beliveau and his wife was well known. He was also a toxic presence in the locker room who's game dropped substantially within 2 seasons of being traded.

I believe Nick is ready to be Captain, I also agree Galley should have been Captain 5 years ago! The Habs should be a better offensive team, But defensive and Goaltending will be their undoing. Great show once again Tony. I usually like Stu as a guest but why does every time he is on, it's all about bashing the previous administration. I like just about every move Hugo has done so far and I hope they do well, but untill they make the Stanley Cup Finals and win a Cup, they will not be better than Bergevin. Also, Shea Weber was a fantastic captain. I love Gallagher too, but saying he should have been captain instead of Weber is just stupid. Here you have an assistant captain of Team Canada, a team full of captains, a guy who has been captain everywhere he has played, a man who is respected by all the players, managment, officials and other teams and your going to give the C to Gallagher? No, Weber wasn't good with the media. But if that was a real criteria for captain Subban would have been captain on every team he played. And how can you say Weber never accepted being a Hab? He literally left it all on the ice trying to win a Cup for this city. To the detriment of his own health. One of his last acts as captain was pubicly defending Price for taking the blame for not wining the Cup. Our best captain since Cabo no question! P.S. SICK

He’s just a Weber hater because Webs didn’t talk to him. If Weber didn’t want to be here he would of asked to be traded. Which he never did He was the obvious choice for captain. You don’t pick a captain just to be spokesperson for the media

Last season the Habs had 55 points. ... IMO the Habs will get 75 points this 2022/2023 season. IMO the Habs will score 7 goals or more in 6 games this year.... IMO The Habs will trade Ghule = (over rated, so best time to trade) and a $$$roster player, for an established puck carrying D man. ...IMO Gallagher will score more goals 5 on 5 goals than Suzuki.

I don’t care if his French is bad... if he simply shows that he cares... it would be important for me and many...I loved Koivu, I now he learned and spoke French, but maybe feeling shy or not to the level, to my knowledge he never spoke French in public... just learning a couple of words would mean a lot... it would simply mean I do care...

Well his 5 year plan turned into a nearly 10 year plan and they are lacking elite young talent when compared to other recent perennial cup contenders/winners like (Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Washington) and the young talent isn't in the class of New Jersey, Ottawa, or Detroit and Colorado isn't going anywhere anytime soon with Makar, Mackinnon, Bowen etc.. They need a top 3 pick. Glad Stu points out the treatment of the young players like Galchenyuk and Kotkaniemi and the coaches who benched them for making a mistake. Glad St. Louis is there instead of retreads.
@andrewe236
@andrewe236 Жыл бұрын
@@bgood4449 just to clarify - Gainey had the 5 year plan, not Bergevin. The guy is fired, he’s gone, but the little digs by a few of the media members keep coming. Molson also did not want a rebuild, he wanted MB to right the ship, and get back to playoffs. Hughes has been gifted a boat load of cap space with Weber and now Prices future in jeopardy. Huge opportunity going forward, and so far so good.
@galkanftw
@galkanftw Жыл бұрын
The Habs won the cup with Steve Penney you don't need an Elite goalie to win the cup you need a good team.ALL the goalies go down on their knees and guess if you shoot high you likely score more often on all of them.You could put ANY goalie in the league Darcy Kuemper on last years habs and his numbers would not be any better goalies are over rated.Goalies really mattered a LOT back when goalies could come out and play the puck like Turco and Brodeur now they all play very similar.

"surprise some people"That type of mentality is NOT what i want from the Habs for the next 2 years.A push right now is too soon and will hurt their chances BIG TIME s it has the past 30 years sliding into the playoffs and never really a legit contender. One good draft year does not make a contender especially since they did not get an ELITE center.Nick and Cole are NOT good enough to match player for player with other elite first lines in the NHL they take a BIG backseat to other top lines. This teams needs....NEEDS another good draft year and they NEED cap space to make it all work anything short of that is just the same old same old as past 30 years.If fans and management THINK Nick and Cole are good enough to LEAD this team to a cup they are badly mistaken this teams needs a LOT more.
