In this video I take Scotty's (Scotty's Gone Walkabout) old canoe out on a solo camping trip for the first time. I even manage to hook onto a nice fish and enjoy a catch and cook along the river. It was a good opportunity to test and review the new Solar Generator 300 Plus by Jackery. I think it'll be really handy for longer trips!

Mattsey, you write so well. If ever you write a book, I’ll buy a copy. Here in the US, about a generation ago, we had a Supreme Court justice, William O.Douglas, who wrote beautifully about his wilderness experiences and the need to protect those places. Definitely worth a read.

I may be overthinking this a little (like I do) but as a name for your canoe how about ‘Carp Diem’ a fishy play on Carpe Diem Carpe Diem means ‘seize the day’ very appropriate for Mattsy now going full time, Carp rather than Carpe to add a fishing type twist ‘let’s hope you catch one from her’ Carpe Diem being also a hat tip to Horace (Quintus Horatius Flaccus) the Latin poet and fellow but former philosopher like yourself who is credited with first using the phrase’Carpe Diem’ So my suggestion is Carp Diem ( did I mention I might be over thinking this?

Watching from canada Australia looks like such a wild place the only thing i recognized was that bass couldnt tell you about a single tree or piece of brush stunning all the same so different than the north woods and conifers im used to, that bug net tarp combo is perfect i have a similar setup and the feeling of being immersed in nature is my favourite way to camp
