Woody bought this Neat VG30 Twin Turbo Z32 300zx in November 2018 as a surprise for Al.
With a Melted VG30DETT and clean paint this was a perfect donor for a stupid engine conversion.
Originally Al went down the path of bolting on a pair of G25-900's to a Nissan VH41DE 4.1L Alloy V8 but as the months went past lost interest in the project due to the complexity of the build.
A few engine conversion ideas were floated around including a DCT backed Honda K24, Turbo VW VR6 or even just a stout VG30 but in the end Alan landed on the path of building a RB25/30.
With the help from some epic companies like‪@haltech‬Haltech, Go Fast Bits, Raceworks, Golebys Parts and Supercheap Auto this vision is coming to life and AL's Dream 300ZX will soon be a reality!

Al departs in typical style - maturity and gravitas. Thanks for the advice over the years mate. In the guise of car show content you have presented us (mostly men) with great life advice. And an example of how to succeed as a man - working hard, being loyal to your mates, being a leader, being responsible for your family and looking after your mental health. Well played mate. Hope you enjoy the change.

Devastated, not going to lie. Al, you're a hero of mine and many others I'm sure. I've really enjoyed your progress from awkwardly standing in front of the camera to now being natural, laughing, taking the piss and being an absolute character. I've never wished someone was my best mate AND my Dad (because you do much for the sprogs too) as much as you Al. I hope you find what's good for you, I get that you need to look after yourself and completely understand. Please do pop up in videos here and there, it's going to be rough without you around. ❤️🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝

On a somewhat more serious note though, got to say a massive thanks to both Al and Woody for The Skid Factory up until this point. Was a large inspiration for us to see that it is well recieved without having to do American cars for an American audience, and some of your influence can be found in our own content. At the moment it seems like a weird landscape to imagine without Al in it, however with Woody still keen to keep it rolling I have no doubt that it will still be a ripper show 💪🏻 I'm excited for you dude and I'm sure you're planning hard AF to make sure 2024 is an absolute BANGER, and the doubters will be eating their words. Get after it brah! 💪🏻

Yepp, most people don't have any clue HOW MUCH WORK it is to film stuff, narrate it, edit tons of hours of footage every week and keep the production quality to a high standard. And of course how much TIME it takes to produce episodes every single week. I know Woody does the majority of the digital stuff but having the camera around like all the time can take away the fun of wrenching on cars. So I totally underatand Al's decicion. ✌️ And don't worry Woody - we surely will stick around with ya! 🤟😎

Huge news but totally understand the reasons. Hope you enjoy whatever the future holds Al! As someone that has owned three z32’s, and spent hundreds of hours in the shed working on them, all the complex parts, all the weird control modules mounted in wheel wells, and the FPCU, I knew exactly what you were going to say when you pointed to the back corner. The huge transmission control unit and factory Nissan ECU, the ABS unit in the rear….bleeding it if you get air in it is hell…gosh so many memories flood back from all the countless hours I’ve spent working on these, but I’d lie if I said I didn’t get emotional seeing you work on one. These were my dream car as a little boy when I saw a horrible bright yellow one drive past me as a kid. Also I love the headlight shade thrown at lambo at the end, something any fairlady owner loves to brag about at every car meet. That’s how you know who the owner is, find the guy talking about his lights that Lamborghini use!

As a KZbinr myself, albeit on a much smaller scale, I can vouch for just how much effort it takes to produce regular content. Putting out even one video a week is a full time job, and as soon as you start filming something, it ends up taking four times longer than just getting on and doing it, and that doesn't include editing and all the rest of the "behind the scenes" stuff. You guys have done a great job and I for one will be continuing to watch. Good luck to you all 🙂

Al thankyou for the content. Your alter ego Turbo Yoda brought me here. You deserve a break and hope you do make some guest appearances. Woody, I look forward to seeing what you do. Thanks to both of you for 5 years of great vids..

You will be missed Alan. Hopefully will see you in the odd episode like Turbo Yoda back in the MCM days. Maybe the young dogs Woody and Gus are taking over the Show. haha. Whatever it is will all be still tuning in every week too watch. Peace.

I would rate woody taking Gus on as the apprentice. Be once again going full circle and passing the knowledge on.

Sad to see Al moving away from youtube, but he can be proud of the catalog that he contributed to here. Some of the best automotive content out there.

That’s some significant news alright. Will 100% continue to support and promote the show. Look forward to the new episode each Wednesday. You’ll certainly be missed Al. Love the banter between you two. I’m sure Woody will bring some new ideas and put his own spin on the show too which will be interesting. Glad we still got you for a more months yet!

Been watching the channel since the beginning, Al your a true gent and I have enjoyed 95% of the content ;) from the education you have given to this pommy bastard to the 90's nostalgia references I shall truly miss you on the show. however all good things do come to an end and i wish you the very best in your future endeavours :)

Firstly when you finally relinquish the role I hope you manage to get a well deserved rest and time away from work. However it will be a lump in the throat moment when you do. As a fellow Al (Alan like you rather than the fake Al’s) having spent far too many years watching you first on might car mods and then the skid factory I’ve enjoyed every single one. You will always be the turbo Yoda and I hope you, Marty, Moog, Benny and Scott get back together again for a build in the future.

Bit sad to see that you're moving on Al, but as someone who understands mental health issues (depression, anxiety), I can tell that you need a break; stepping back is the right thing to do, so please go enjoy life and you're always welcome back here when you want to come back!

So sad to see you step back Al, but I'm around the same age and traveling and enjoying our golden days have to be a priority. Sacrifices have to be made. Thanks for all the awesome videos and jokes. I hope to see you on the show every so often. But I hope you have fun as you get out n about. Congrats
