Biggest takeaway as a mechanic/auto-electrician from Al over the years, makes a great quote: "You may as well do it yourself, and if it's not good enough it's your own fault. Set your own standards". Love that outlook for any tradesman!!

So long and thanks for all the fish, Alan. What clinched it for me was your educational take on all things automotive. Not only have you shown us and told us how things work, but you've shown us and told us that we too can figure these things out if we just get on with it. @feenyx6394 Lol, The Hitch Hiker's guide to the galaxy reference. That was the Dolphins being thankful for the fish, right? Funniest books I've ever read. I was in my late teens when they came out and one time, I'm on a train going to Sydney where I worked and I'm reading the, Restaurant at the end of the Universe and I laughed out loud, involuntarily, loudly and heartily. I was obviously on my own, so instantly, people around looked at me like I'm insane. Highly embarrassed, I pointed out that it's the book I'm reading, it's rather funny, I said by way of explanation. I don't think I convinced anyone. The part I laughed at what was when the Frogstar battle droid destroyed itself because it got so angry that Marvin had been left to stop it and Marvin had no weapons. "You ain't seeing nothing yet," promised the machine, "I can take out this floor too, no trouble!" It took out the floor, too. "Hell's bells!" the machine roared as it plummeted fifteen storeys and smashed itself to bits on the ground below.

1:38:52 My mate has an 08 Versa SL that we've sold to eachother a few times over the years to keep it in the family and it has now morphed into something we've talked about all those years ago. Watching him learn and grow as the little nugget has gotten both of our families 200k miles after getting it from a family friend at 113k miles on the clock has made that thing priceless to us. A similar story of buying it the first time since it took him and his family such a long distance in such a short amount of years.

We think the same, been through the same shit and just build stuff because we love it. I tried doing the KZbin thing and realized early what a ball ache making videos is and never bothered. Mighty Car Mods showed me there was nothing to be afraid of, The Skid Factory gave me the technical side of things and Benny’s loves of the weird and wonderful shows me that you just need to like what you like. Thanks Niall, I was today years old and it was your comment that's the first time I've heard anything other than Russian steel. I had my Alfa 33 cared for by a family business in Brisbane from 1997, until 13 years later when I finally let it go. A family from Europe, they too told of the poor quality steel left on the docks. I see more recent commentary from 2022 about this being false, I'll be sure to read up.

Is it just me that has no idea who the guy doing the interview was. The first 90 minutes were great, and then he seemed to struggle for content and waffled on for a while. Ending in a sad note about something not related to Alan at all.

Mate, you are not alone. I am nobody and far from an experienced podcaster. I'm so grateful that Al was happy to chat with me, he is an amazing guy. I appreciate you listening and for your thoughts. I honestly just want to get better, because I really enjoy the process. I've never had more listeners than this episode with Al. When you fail on a small scale, no one notices, I'm learning a lot as more people see this episode and I certainly have work to do to become a better host. Thank you for listening and taking the time to share your thoughts.

I understand. This also isn't 60 Minutes. We had beers, talked and recorded it. Oddly, I'm not actually making this for an audience, I'm just fascinated talking to people who make something of themselves and am having fun doing it. If anyone listens or watches and actually enjoys it, that's just a bonus!

"we cheated because we had an instant audience" LOL you didn't cheat, that's called networking and leveraging connections. Even if you put a pile of shit in front of a large audience it doesn't make it anything other than a pile of shit LOL if the show was bad, it wouldn't have gotten any views.
