First of all, can we not lump all of The Smiths viewers into one pile? I know there are some on here that don't like the hunting stuff, and to them I say, don't watch it. For those of us who do really enjoy that stuff, please keep it coming. Glad Maverick liked the tool set. Those bookshelves keep looking better and better. Appreciate seeing all the stuff...the behind the scenes stuff of the podcasts, your trip with Lincoln to College Station, and all the other stuff. Thanks for sharing your lives with us. Happy Thanksgiving!

Back in September I was in elk camp bow hunting in western Colorado, I started reading your book and couldn’t put it down. I could definitely tell that you wrote it in your own words. You’re an excellent storyteller. It is an amazing story and I finished it in 48 hours. I respect the harvesting of animals. I live 90 miles from Uvalde. In 1956, my father pointed a 45 revolver at me because he missed shooting a stray dog he was making me hold. When I was 12, my father back-handed me and my dog attacked him; he hauled him off and shot him. Not everyone deserves to have firearms. Granger, you have a good solid moral compass so keep doing what you’re doing your way.

EVERYONE deserves to own firearms. It is a God given right. Even though this government infringes upon the rights of the US citizens on a daily basis, it is an unalienable right to keep and bear arms. Whether people agree or disagree with that, the fact still remains

Well said about Granger being respectful. I’m sorry to read you were shot, but thankful you survived your childhood. Most of us carry a lot of that trauma and use it for bad, but it looks like you’ve let it refine you vs define you. Very much respect to you for how you are evolving. We can’t let trauma hold us back. 🙏 I buy lots of YeeYee gear, but tend to stick to the “farm” or “ranch” themed designs. Not so much forearms. I feel they have a decent selection of both.

I’m not into hunting, but I respect folks that are; I’m not into guns, but respect those that are. I guess the point is, for me, I don’t have to 100% agree/like something to have respect for those that do. (I married a gun guy, so I guess I am one by default, lol.)

Everyone should have the right to bear arms until they screw up like point a firearm at a kid I don't care how you are if you point a firearm at a kid any kid I will protect that kid no matter what.

Hey Granger, writing in from Humboldt Iowa. I was raised using archery equipment since I was 6 and am 27 now. So I would say the best hunting caliber is a 450gr Easton Axis. Thank you for you for your teaching in the scriptures and what the Holy Spirit is doing through you for me. Just lost my Dad almost 2 months ago and honestly wasn’t sure if I would ever hunt again. But I have found that it has been an even better place for me now to meditate on Gods word and to remember all the memories I have with my dad over the last 27 years. And to also help me to never let my 3 year old daughter to never let her forget her grandpa. Love you brother!! Yes Yee

My sons hunt on our farm property after the crops have been harvested. The deer meat is harvested to provide food for families. We also have a very large outside shooting range for family and friends. We bring tables, chairs, and shade tents to make it more enjoyable. Safe shooting is required just like you were in an indoor shooting range. We enjoy a variety of your videos. Keep up the good work! A subscriber from Michigan.

Hey Granger, I'm not sure who on the Smiths don't like your hunting, But that's a way of life. Its a great lesson of life and how God can provide food if you know how to provide for your family! witch is what you are teaching him. I'm so grateful that my uncle took the time to teach me the skills to hunt! as I grew up without a father to teach me those lessons. Now I'm dong the same with our kids. we take a week off every year and go as a family to hunting camp! If this world ever got worse I know that we could still live off the land and provide for ourselves with the help if God by our side~ Life lessons are never something to pass up on! :) We love watching you all and can't wait till our paths cross again!

First deer I harvested was with a czechoslovakia 8mm mauser as a teenager. During a major snowstorm (waist deep) about a mile back into the woods. Pre cell phone days - so I had to hump it back to deer camp, get some help, go back and then drag the deer back. My brothers were so pissed helping me drag it out - took us all day. No snowshoes or snowmobile with us, not even a sled to slide over the snow. 20 years later, they still remind me every opener - haha. A friend lathed a beautiful wood stock and used the action from the mauser to build a 300 win mag I believe. Best all around deer caliber in my opinion- 30.06, although I shoot a 7mm mag, I ain't to bright.

Hey now some of us like hunting.. I mean the whole reason I know about you is being a country music fan. Keep being you, you don’t need followers that tell you who to be and what values to teach your kids. That being said, my first deer was with my dad’s old 6 that was passed down from my grandfather to my dad, to my older brother and then to me. It was in a stand at our lease in Rocksprings, Tx named “house on the hill”. The ride there is one of the sketchiest and most fun to get to, especially on the back with my dad. Such a core memory I will always have. Just a college girl, her dad, and a 6mm.

Hi Smith family. I am Brianne from Washington State. I was raised in a hunting family. I started when I was 12 years old and still do to this day, I am 30. I hunt black tail with a 243 Winchester but recently just bought a 6.5 Christensen. I have also killed 2 elk with my 243 Winchester.! Besides getting your harvest there is so much more to hunting. I cherish getting that time with my dad more and more every year as we get older. We bond the most in the woods. When we drive on logging roads and or hiking the 10+ miles we do while hiking behind locked gates. Most locations we hunt at don’t have the best service so I get to escape the media. So I’m all for seeing your family’s style of hunting. Because mine is far more different than yours. My dad is an amazing “hunting guide” if your ever interested in trying out the Western Washington hunting! He’s not really a hunting guide, but he’s had many ppl reach out to him to take them out to get a black tail. Keep doing you Smith Family.

270 is a great caliber. When I turned 12(legal hunting age back then in Pa), my dad bought us (I have a twin brother) each a 30.06 because it was very common and if you ever went to camp and forgot shells, you could find them anywhere as well as from guys at camp that also used that caliber. So, for us, in the type of terrain we hunt, at that time, 30.06 was the best choice. To those that do not hunt, that is ok. I hope you either tolerate it or just wait for the next video and stay tuned. It isn't for everyone but that is ok. To each their own.

I grew up camping, hunting, and learning to shoot. We eat everything we kill. I’m not a fan of trophy hunting, but love that you include this in some of your videos. Please don’t stop.

When my son was small, I can’t tell you how many phones my son destroyed. I would pick up the phone and it would come apart. Once my phone rang, well kind of it was more like a doorbell. Kids are truly amazing.

Keep doing what you are doing. This is who you & your family are. I love seeing the first hunt/kill. I used to go hunting with my dad & then he made me climb a tree to a platform (afraid of heights). That is what did it for me. My boys learned to hunt from dad. You are teaching how to survive. Keep it up. YEEYEE! 😊

it was great about Maverick and his tools. I think that is great that you are talking about hunting.
