It's the return of Chris Harris! And this time he's brought his Collecting Cars business / podcast partner, Ed Lovett. This was a good one. We talk about Chris' cars, the hypercar problem, Ferrari manuals, the 992 GT3, making content for the internet vs TV, the evolution of journalism, content creators, making money on KZbin, crashing things, Chump Car racing, getting stuck in the mountains, Cleetus, and more.

MATT : Please practice active listening. Continually talking over your guests becomes tiresome. Let your guest makes their point. Jumping in with "but listen to my similar experience" before they get a chance to tell their story is a rooky mistake. I had to stop listening. Not trolling. Just constructive criticism which of course can be ignored.

Chris Harris will always be one of the best automotive journalists in my opinion. Matt Farah has gotten to be a little over the top for me to put it as delicately as I can. He would benefit greatly from a bit of modesty. He was a lot easier to listen to in the earlier years. Also, no one cares about your politics Matt. Just stick to the cars.

@@sebastiankaiser5165 Totally agree. I have consistently enjoyed the one/two takes content. It just seems like ever since Matt completed that garage, his whole demeanor changed and not for the better. On that Spa Fun Cup / VLN story. Had a driver training on the Ring with an Alfa 75 during VLN testing in 2008 / 2009 I think. Being overtaken before Bergwerk by Klaus Ludwig in a Aston Martin DBRS9 was scary and insane. That they allowed novices like me in there, was nuts. Having a 993 GT2 in front of you going out on the Dottinger Hohe was just nuts. (in a good way)

I'm just gonna say...there's a lot of complaining about Tesla build quality, which is a legit concern yes. But Alfa has had a very negative rep, but car people still love them. German brands are usually known as "unreliable" but we love them (and yes Germans have upped their game a lot but still). I think it's a similar thing with Tesla in terms of having a "charm" for the EV market
@reidconti
@reidconti 2 жыл бұрын
100%. That "could you drive a Tesla" segment was a bit over-dramatic. As Harris himself pointed out, the Supercharger network means it's your only real option for a road-trippable EV; honestly, I felt the UK was ahead of the US for awhile in non-Tesla DCFC, but that may have changed with Electrify America. They really are great cars. Ignore the circlejerk of haters, ignore Elon, and for god's sake stay off the forums, they're awful. If you just buy the car and drive it, it's a fantastic vehicle. Just flogged our RWD 3 in PS4S) up a mountain road for an hour last night and it's as fun as anything. Excellent turn in, tons of grip, great balance, and of course nothing matches an EV's pull out of corners. It's not as "engaging" as something with a powerband and a manual shifter, but as an appliance, it beats them all.

I have a 2022 Tesla Model 3 Performance coming from lotus, bmw and more recently Porsche GT3. I love the Tesla for my city setup and outside city driving as well. I agree about the Tesla fanboys, I noticed most are not car people but they love their Tesla. Nothing wrong with that. But one must not lie, the Model 3 Performance is a gem of a car. Farah himself said he had enjoyable experience with Tesla in this podcast. I lucked out and mine seems to be put together well. There is definitely hate towards Tesla. Whatever. I like mine.

Chris Harris is the definition of a true car enthusiast. His enthusiasm is unmistakable for the subject. For a fellow car nut it is pure joy to hear someone get excited about the same shite as I tend to. I went back to watch since Chris doesnt do many interviews and I was once again struck with Matts elitist attitude. Ever wonder why people like Chris have the following...just take a quick look at their character and how they treat others. Its not onky because he can stick a car sideways within an inch of its life at any given time. I always want to like Matt and never comment of much if anything, but just cant do the elitist and proud, yet guilty, yet very proud bit. Anytime any social topic arises Matt must show how blue he believes his blood is. This is very unbecoming kind sir. It appears to make his guests feel very uncomfortable, even Chris seems awkward at several points in this interview. My unsolicited advice for Matt would be to try and be like his friend Mr. Harris and just be yourself! Be humble, Dont try and be your father or anyone else. Just be the car nut that you can be and drop the wannabe sophisticated, liberal bit. When you do the content can be quite good. When you throw your nose in the air and look down on others it can be borderline nauseating yet laughable if you know what I mean. We have all known someone like this and it comes off as very poser to thw rest of us. Shit why did I even watch this ohhhh yes because listening to Chris talk proper car nerdery outweighs all. Also since Im apparently ranting, which I NEVER do especially anywhere online, maybe try and get Zach more involved the conversation instead of having him bring you drinks. Raising others around you to greater heights is very rewarding if you dont practice it regularly. Not sure if Im the only one thinking this but Ive been wanting to say that for about 10 years and have always used restraint. I dont intend my comments to be hateful, quite the opposite.

'The Farah's family's tentacle reach far and wide' :D Harris has a great sense of humour too. But let's stop comparing shall we? If any of us would be compared against Harris where would be be on the scale? I enjoy watching both Chris Harris and Farah and I'm glad they are good colleagues / friends.

I’d love to see Chris go on a drift adventure learning the history in Japan then travel to several tracks to compete against amateurs possibly graduating to professional drifter status and getting a championship.

So, let me see if I have this correct. Matt does a podcast with Jason Cammisa where the first half was shitting on American excess, frivolous spending, and "we could all do better." And now he is showing off that he has not one, but two of fifty Deepsea Sea-Dwellers made for the Royal Navy Clearance Divers. Ok, then. Also, when you have a guests on with this level of knowledge and experience, do not talk over them or interrupt them. It's unprofessional and petty.

Yup, this is also the same guy who acts humble, guilty for white previlage, and always saying sorry for wrong pronouns,and vulgar jokes in the past ...... Which is funny because he's not white, he's a arab Jew..... But grew up rich..... being rich is not white privilege.......... He's been living in California a little too long.......

I live in the "leg" of the UK (south devon coast, originally dawlish which you can google and find out about the sea wall collapsing etc). I think.. atleast down here the UK being "rainy" is overblown. Grey for sure, literally 75% of the year its grey skies. But it's not like its raining 90% of the year like you'd think, You'll get the odd shower in the winter months and with a *peak* of 9celcius or 48f matt fahrenheit tomorrow I don't fancy going out on the mountainbike. Wanna know what UK weather is generally like? Washington/Oregan Except 2 weeks a year it becomes SoCal, As you can imagine cooling isn't a priority here, so when we do get a heatwave it's 30c (86f) anywhere you go with 90% humidity......and theres nothing you can do about it, Your house/office is as *thermally insulated* as possible to reduce energy losses and nowhere has any air con. However we don't get.. -Earthquakes that cause highway collapses. -Hurricanes that can last days. -Tornado's that'll take your house down the street. -Levi's bursting banks and flooding 280square miles like new orleans -Blizzards with 6ft snow drifts locking you in your house for days (We dont expect ANY snow so we get a little slush and audi owners have a field day! everyone else gets stuck) -Dust storms. -Volcano's like some islands. -massive average rainfall that some southern states get. Compared to that yeah britain being very grey explains the boring reputation.

Yup, I grew up in washington, same deal. It's not so bad. I live in California now, so I get the Farrah brag, and it truly is awesome, but the fact of the matter is the good weather is less "special". I don't miss living somewhere that's dreary and depressing, but it does mean when you have nice days you take full advantage of it.

"Your doing KZbin races for Top Gear?" As he does a KZbinr video with a Top Gear host. Harris is slumming now that he mentions it. I have been following Matt for a long time and his older, real enthusiast side brought me in. His snobby, political, I'm too smart for the rest of the world shtick then pushes me away until his next interesting drive or interview.
