I love Harris, great attitude and perspective! I really get a kick out of how he shits on pick-up up trucks owners in America/Canada because that's what I drive. Pick-ups are the ultimate! Super comfy, tones of room, power and I can tow and off road which are activities that I do regularly. Plus the last 3 I've owned have been durable!

You’re the guy who should have a truck. People who just commute should have a wagon or a hatchback. Trucks are for doing work, driving them as a grocery getter is stupid
@jayfxdx4 жыл бұрын
@@nathanchildress5596 Most pick-ups are sold because of the versatility. Luxury level trim packages along towing capacity are why they sell in huge numbers. People who buy them using them for commuting but then tow/haul boats, campers, snowmobiles, camping/hunting gear with them on weekend. It's how North Americans recreate that makes them so popular.
@nathanchildress55962 жыл бұрын
Sure, trucks do more work than any other vehicle; but they do commuting worse than any other type of car, with the worst mileage. For the 70 grand that new trucks cost you could get a used truck and a wonderful daily driver. But truck guys are too proud to be seen in anything else

I know this is an old video, but the reason car makers have convinced us we need SUV’s and trucks is perceived value. Consumers ‘know’ most Chevy cars aren’t worth 50k, but nobody thinks twice about a 60-70k Chevy truck. And a 60k truck only cost about 1k more than an Impala to build.
@Finnspin_unicycles3 жыл бұрын
I know it's an old comment, but I don't think that's true. SUVs had a huge boom in Europe as well, and we don't really have trucks that are used as personal vehicles here. Honestly, I think it might be that the crash standards forced higher doors and bonnets, which doesn't work well with the "sportscar" look - but does work well with an SUV/offroad design.

@spencer Kay, you’re comparing apples to oranges. The buyer personas of these vehicles have very different goals. E.g. a fast civic that has bragging rights in a straight line means nothing to a Mclaren owner who spends their time on a circuit exploring the bounds of physics to achieve optimal lap times. It's not just the lithium though is it, it's the 4x as much copper, the large amount of cobalt and god forbid all the REE present all of which add up to a horrendous human and environmental damage. For electric cars to succeed we need to seriously cut down on the amount of niche elements used.
