Looking like a hand held holographic comm unit to me. The silver ring could house a 3D optical sensor that scans the user to send their image to the person they're talking to. The dome projects the other person's 3D image for you to see. It could also project data like a star charts, maps, blue prints or text. Kinda like a smart phone for a galaxy far, far away...

Fair question: why hide the damage you did? Isn’t that what you want? A worn, used look? Besides, it’s a wall panel so it would get bumped and scraped a bit over time, no? I love your channel! I only wish you could post more often - and I *know* you’re doing what is possible.

I know you have shown in another video but do you have a link to the hard-drive motors that would work in these panels?

There is not a specific link. I get mine on eBay or at used electronic stores. eBay is the easiest. Just search hard drive motors and you’ll see all types. They don’t usually reference the specific size of them, so unfortunately it’s a bit of a crap shoot

@The Smugglers Room your panels with the white and blue tile lights always triggers me a bit due to their decorative nature. You might be able to install or design similar tiles that could also be a keyboard key cap for cherry MX keys then you could build an adafruit macro pad to make the keys more functional.

Did you guys get a load of that horrible gadget in Obi Wan's chest? It was his hologram phone, but it was a lame game controller or something that looked like it was from our world, from a very specific time. It took you right out of it! It was so bad, not at all Star Wars looking. After having learned from you guys and gone down the greeblie rabbit hole myself, how could they do something like that? So lazy of them. No greeblies, no aging, just gray paint and some blackouts. You do it better than them now!
