Although this is an older video, your production quality is still superb! This channel is HIGHLY underrated!

I'm with a world-wide Mandalorian costume club and I've been meaning to make a helmet stand for a while. After finding your channel and going back through older posts I found this one. You made an awesome stand and it was really cheap and easy to make. I made one for myself and shared you video with friends who'll be making their own now. Thanks for the great design. Love the vid's, keep it up!

I think these are the coolest stands I’ve ever seen. If you ever make some for sale let me know!
@f25355 жыл бұрын
Just adding my two cents worth. If you have several helmets you should build a shelf about two or three feet down from the ceiling of the smugglers room that you are doing, length can be up to how much you need. Maybe something like the shelf that the helmets are sitting on in the closing scene at 7:07. Paint it and greeblie the shelf to blend in with the panels and mount the flange of the stand on the shelf. You can call it a display for your collections from your travels all around the galaxy. Also for the top of the stand, you might look into the styrofoam heads for wigs available at beauty shops. Cut the top of the head off above the eyebrows, drill a two inch hole recessed in the middle and secure the top of the head to the two inch pvc pipe. Now you have a wider head shaped top for the helmets to rest on.

f2535 you nailed it!!! Thanks for the feedback. We definitely have plans to display them in the room. I LOVE the styrofoam head suggestion, that’s perfect! Thanks so much for watching, and the comment, we really appreciate it!

You know what would be cool would be to add some LED lights up under the helmet to cast a cool glow under the helmet. Then make one of those greblies actually turn the light on. 😀 Great build!

Awesome job! Your creativity is rivaled only by your infectious enthusiasm for Star Wars. You are much appreciated. My only question is where you find the shiny pieces (short tubes extending from a base of similar material) that you used along side the shiny hard drive motor on the Stormtrooper stand. I have now disassembled a good number of old electronic devices and do not seem to come upon these pieces. I can certainly fabricate something similar, but was curious where one might find pieces like those. Thanks again for providing such an entertaining and informative channel.

I used wall-mounted hat hangers for my helmets. simple, clean, and gets the party started quickly. Plus, everybody is up on display and I don't have to hunt for a place to put them lol

You have inspired me to build stands for my helmet. I'm actually using your idea for the Fett, but I'm putting my own spin on it for my Skywalker helmet. I do have one question. How do you prepare the PVC for paint, and what type of paint did you use?
@johnkaye69724 жыл бұрын
I was very impressed with the storm trooper stand. I have a Darth Vader Collector's Helmet by Rubies signed by David Prowse. What size dowel or PCV did you us? I was thinking 1 inch. What did you use to cap the top to stand which would be large enough to hold a full size helmet in place. ?

Yes! More toilet flange! These look great. You really have a talent for capturing the Star Wars aesthetic.

Ive printed a mando helmet and i was wondering what would be the best way to make a cast of it
@TheSmugglersRoom5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that is a common question for people working with helmets. What you want is a brush on mold technique. It's where you basically paint on the mold and then create a fiberglass frame around it, followed by what is called "roto-casting." I have not filmed this process for my channel, but this link from punished props is a really great place to start. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJzdd4J8r7anppo

If you wanted to you could 3d print an oval shaped dome and screwed it in place with either a screw or with some nuts and bolts.

Great idea. I really need to use my 3D printer more. I’m still a noob at it!

Now I need stands for mine. I think I have...9. Vader, phase1 clone, phase 2 clone, OG stormy, first order stormy, tie fighter pilot, imperial guard, Boba Fett, Kylo. Where to start?
@TheSmugglersRoom6 жыл бұрын
MetalNerd oh man that is Awesome! What a great collection. Personally I would start with the Tie Fighter Pilot. I have one of those as well and I want to come up with some type of cool design that includes the chest box as part of the display. Can’t wait to see what you do!
