What I really appreciate about this channel vs. some of the others is that not only do you guys strive to make these items so they fit into the universe correctly visually, but you go for the weight and feel of the prop too. Your builds look as if I could pick them up and they’d have the same weight and feel as the items really would in the universe. Many others simply use foam for items you’d expect to be made out of metal or heavier materials. And while it looks right visually and might be easier to make them that way, they miss that tactile feel and weight your builds have.
@TheSmugglersRoom3 жыл бұрын

I agree on this. Real metal etc on building is my favorite thing to do. I'm such a huge fan of SW I use my inspiration from THE SMUGGLERS ROOM and ANTHONY FERRARO CREATE SCI-FI CHANNEL. They are my 2 favorite channels. I've created my own TIME TRAVEL SCI-FI FANTASY BOOK SERIES and created a realm of my own. Making a miniseries and film based on my first book THE TRANS-METRONOME-DEVICE. It's not SW related, but definitely SW has been a huge influence and inspiration to my independent productions. MTFBWY

You guys are the right people to share ideas with. We've thought that with the modular nature of Power Droids that Gonks could do any of the following: -Use our bins that we transport our 501st costumes in to convert into a Gonk once we arrive. After all those droids are basically just storage bins anyway. -Have a Gonk as the ultimate utilitarian party prop. The upper 1/2 of Gonk could be a USB hub for charging phones, playing music or movies (the electronics portion of the prop). That part could flip open or a sizeable access panel could allow users to use Gonk's lower 1/2 which would be a cooler. Cleverly hidden in the heels of Gonk's feet would be wheels so you just roll him into position even if he's fully loaded with ice and drinks. We've thought of hybrid versions where our bins for our costumes convert into a Gonk but we could still do party prop mode. Now couple that with an R5-D4 propane barbecue grill and you're ready for a SW summer.

Man, this is so great... I actually thought about building a frame with one of these plexi etched star... Whatever they are called, the center piece. Well, I thought about building a frame for it and then use the plexi as a kind of picture, where you can put different ones in it. The biggest problem is, using arduino, because I have no idea how to use it, but maybe I will find a way around that, and how to replace the „picture“ but, beside of that and the fact that I have no idea, where I can get these plexi-etched-whatevers I am good to go.

Is EPIC too understated? By far my favorite project by the Junkyard Jedi. On an unrelated note, I finished my application and waiver for JunkyardJedi camp for this summer. When does the syllabus get posted? Can’t wait to go and meet everyone.

May I ask you what design programs do you use? I am learning to use the Z brush but to create objects such as supports, etc. I think another type of program would be more useful. Please could you recommend one to me. greetings and thanks 🙏🏻

Thanks for watching Carlos, pretty much old school for designing my projects, T square and a table , and rough sketching, I do use Auto CAD ver 2000 from way back when. And print out some scaled drawings. But just use what you’re comfortable with and go from there.

An idea for a future upgrade would be to build in bluetooth, so you can connect it to your phone and really use it for communication.
