Excellent comment mate! This particular track is the first time I heard the Snake Charmer sing, she has such a simple, fantastic and glorious voice and then when she gets the bagpipe out with absolute precision, attitude and wonder, Oh man she is so beautiful, I shed tears down my cheek honest more than once but now I am okay. She 'Heralded' it in my friend, that is War on a Global scale according to the Prophecies in Old & New Testament what else, but she is just an instrument or a singer but that's what they do because it had to be done! It is a warning for preparedness, aversion and victory basically !

It's a good cover but the description is a bit simplistic. The song isn't about WW1, it's about the 1916 rising in Ireland and how the rebels fought for freedom as opposed to for the British army in WW1. The rising and subsequent executions inspired the push for freedom.

Not about WW1? The rebellion put us firmly on the side of "our gallant allies in Europe" and staked our claim to independence in the post WW1 shake-up of empires. Ukraine made its move at the end of WW1 but has suffered a "ground hog day" on the threshold of independence ever since. But whatever happens, Ukraine has many "rebel songs" which I'm sure the Snake Charmer could adapt for pipes and her beautiful voice.
2 жыл бұрын
@@ciarandoyle4349 Yes it's not about WW1. It is about the rising, plain and simple. While the rising was essentially facilitated by the English involvement in WW1 and the 1916 leaders were looking to have a german style of independence it's still a separate part of history. The song even pokes a bit at people who went to fight in WW1 and not fight for freedom. "Twas better to die 'neath that Irish sky. Than at Sulva or Sud-El-Bar", which is the only mention of WW1 in it.

The languages of northern india and the celtic languages are related with both being of indo-european origins. Both Ireland and India were seized by the british crown. Ireland was perhaps britain's first colony and just about it last. The Irish were as badly treated if not worst as were those of any other British colonies of the Americas, Asia or Africa. The Easter rebellion marked the beginning of the 20th century revolts against british colonialism. Huge numbers died of a British caused famine that force the Irish to migrate throughout the world.
