The problem with crunch is not that sometimes creatives do it, it's that studios, headed by non-creatives, force creatives into it for fear of losing their livelyhoods instead of maybe postphoning a release date by a bit. By all means, and I know all creatives do it, sacrifice for your art, but don't let any higher-up who's only incentive is a number going up force you into doing so on threat of bereftment.

I fucking love ace combat, but I don't talk about it to my friends much because its not really that kind of game, its a single player campaign arcade game. I love that it brings back the simple times of games designed with a fun first attitude, its a blast to play but what's to talk about? you almost definitely know someone who is a fan but hasn't mentioned it, its not a service game AT ALL, its a one and done, or maybe a few replayes till you beat all the difficulty levels kinda thing, I have about 60 hours in it and that's 100% completion, those 60 hours were well worth it but its not competitive with an esport behind it or anything, and its not exactly a simulator either its just mindless arcade fun, you dont flex about completing it because its not some insane challenge, just a very good campaign that makes you feel like you're in a top gun movie, and you come away with the same kind of feeling as having watched a good movie or tv show, its great but its not a lifestyle, or what could be considered a whole hobby with time invested, like some esports titles.

Chris doesn't understand what crunch is fron a project management perspective. There's a difference between artistic drive to keep going past work hours and in a project crunch directly refers to the forced increased hours and money poured into a project to meet deadlines. If Insomniac has deadlines being met without crunch time then they're not crunching
