1:41:27 On the change thing, I always hated cashiers giving me change like that. As a cashier myself, I place the coins in their palm and the note between their fingers. They hold the note, put the coins in the pouch and then put the notes The problem with notes first, coins on top after is that notes are slippery so you can move your hand and the coins fall off, so to prevent that, you have to grab them all together as one, which prevents you from dividing them easily and quickly so as to store them. I've seen how customers handle their money when I do this, it looks easy and convenient.

I also dislike it when customers take too long. When it's kids and the elderly, I don't get upset by it. Many older folks have shaky hands and memory problems and the kids have no social intelligence and their empathy is undeveloped. But, the adults that buy a week's groceries in a tiny convenience store? The adults that won't pack their own stuff while I'm scanning it, and only asks for a bag when I finish? For the customers capable of forethought, who neglect to do so, spending eight minutes walking around the store before buying two items? It tires and frustrates me a great deal when we're extremely busy and I have to become an athlete just to sweep the floors, or clean the coffee machine already, without consistent interruptions somehow spaced neatly into perfect 5 minute intervals, turning a ten minute task into something that I can't even fully complete in 45 minutes.

Sweeney is right, its because theyve never had customer service jobs. Having grown up in Glendale, the attitude towards labor, in the Armenian community is WILD. Generally speaking of course, most of em are in business and dont care or understand the work/plight of customer service. I worked for them many times and the disdain they have for employees wanting better pay or not busting their ass constantly is crazy. What Ive learned though, living in a different state now, all small business/business owners mostly have the same prospective on labor. BTW I am also Armenian so they dont give a fuck where you are from either. Its disheartening and embarrassing to be associated with that type of conservative, unapologetic mind set.

About that accidental radiation exposure incident. One of the exposed scientists told nobody to move and mark their positions on the ground to see how far they were from the source and that was meant to be used as data for calculating how quickly and severely radiation affects people. It correlated with how slowly each one of them died later in the hospital. Quite a noble thing to do as soon as you realise you're 100% positively going to die.

I don't understand Chris' problem there, I usually have time to put my wallet back in my pocket while they process my transaction. So, when they hand me my change back, I collect it, spill the coins into my right hand to dump into my pocket as a single move while reaching for my wallet to put away the bills, I only wad it up with the coins in it, if it's someone else' money that was entrusted to me to get something, their change is in a wad, not my problem.

I've never worked retail and I treat them all as well as possible, because I was raised to treat people well (AFAIK neither of my parents worked it either)... Pretty simple. I think the "women in the kitchen thing" stems from the workplace. It's simply more convenient to have one person take care of the house and kids while the other labors and makes money. I don't know how modern that idea is though. It could be 70 years old, it could be 700 years old, I don't know.
