Love it. If only my knees weren't knackered. I like the ninja black tent. More than fifty yards away and it's invisible. The drone must be great too, no "surprises" at the top of ravines that tempt you into stupid risk taking.

Really enjoyed that one - bonkers ravine! Hope you escaped the tickfest in the bracken! I actually really liked you covering the difficulties in finding a pitch - so much more realistic of my usual bimbling about trying to find a good spot too! And you're right... you get into a, just a bit further mode, and before you know it, you've walked a heck of a lot further than initially intended. Cracking spot though - lovely and quiet and a superb view. Look forward to the next one.

I went up to stickle tarn on Friday morning. I don’t know how you get up there with all that gear budd, hats of to you 🙌. I have a prosthetic leg so I stayed at a campsite bays brown. I was blown away by the scenery and views so it was well worth the walk. I will keep it going as there is so much to see and maybe one day wild camp at the top. Bushcraft is my thing but I have to say this kind of walking/camping is rewarding when you have completed it. Your videos are great and thanks for the inspiration. The 1leg wanderer from chorley.

Hi Dave. Great vid again. Can I comment on your equipment, or rather lack of it. I was surprised to hear you didn’t take waterproofs because it is summer… and that is the second walk I have heard you say that. Could I suggest it is a given in mountaineering to always take the appropriate gear and always include waterproofs? On my first ascent of Scafell pike, back in 1977, we were on our third walk of the sun baked week. We contemplated leaving our waterproofs behind as we observed the blue skies above. But as young novices we took them. As we pulled up to the summit, surrounded by walkers in shorts, tea shirts, and even flip flops, we were confronted with a sudden and rapidly moving thunderstorm. We whipped our ‘proofs on and descended safely and warmly as the temperature dropped. You are of course free to not heed the time honoured guidance but I think it is something you should make clear to viewers who may take your comments as an example for them to follow. Hope you take this in the spirit intended. Looking forward to your next vid. Great drone pics again. Well done.
@mickbrowne69042 жыл бұрын
Ian. I was thinking that myself. With respect to his video it shows the lakes as a beautiful place, but like you safety equipment ie waterproofs, bivi bag plus more in the mountains is paramount. I hope Dave shows more of these requirements to compliment his videos.

I think I met a ghost near there Dave years ago, went up Jacks Rake with a plan to circle round to Rossett Pike but weather was deteriorating and decided to go route one back to the valley - I smelt tobacco smoke first and came across a chap sat enjoying a pipe in gear from years ago - exchanged a couple of words and carried on, looked back a few moments later and no sign of him.........always remember it. Ever had any similar experiences? Of course he could have been a quick mover like you...🙂

Another entertaining and quality video, Dave. It looks like you had a crack at drone shooting as you walk and it was spectacular. Well done and I am impressed with the range of the drone as it climbs and moves away from you. I guess it might be fairly windy but the drone seems to cope well. Great to see the Langdales in their majesty.
@JRLNeal2 жыл бұрын
Oh dear now I read that your drone has crashed. I do hope you’ve got the DJI care refresh arrangement where you can send the crashed drone back to them up to twice a year and get a new one. I had to do this once in two years. Mind you, you have to make sure you can get the drone back when it’s damaged, if you lose it in the middle of a lake, or similar, then it’s lost for good, but if you’ve got it back damaged they will replace it. I’ve now pushed the boat out and now have a Mavic mini three pro with a number of sensors on it so that it won’t hit anything. It also has a ‘follow me’ mode, which I am still to make full use of. Anyway, chin up. We are all gunning for you.

Hi Bernard. There’s an automatic feature on the drone, quick shots which I sometimes use for this. I also sometimes just turn my back on the drone and fly away from me, but I only do this in areas free of obstacles. I do have plans for the Coniston area 👍
