Death of the Outsider
@GH-un9uz2 жыл бұрын
Tl;DR The artifacts Billie gets are NOT the mark of the outsider. Sometime between D1 and 2 she goes into aramis stiltons home, gets caught by guards and loses her eye and arm, which we see in dishonored 2. If during the crack in the slab you knock aramis out, thus preventing him from going to the ritual and losing his mind, when you return to the present the entire manor is different because he is still sane and has protected the people of the dust district. Because of this, for the rest of the game Billie lurk has her eye and arm, which is the canon ending. This creates a rift in time that the outsider is forced to correct, by taking her arm and eye and replacing them with void relics, making it so she simultaneously does and does not have an eye and arm, which "fixes" the time problems. Her powers are not tied to the outsider at all, hence the new mana meter, and lack of runes. She can't use runes to improve her control over the void because she doesnt draw her power from the outsider. This also means that when the outsider is either killed or spared, she would in theory keep her powers. I dont blame him though because the game doesn't do a good job of explaining why the outsider is forced to give us powers, and unless you've done a non-lethal run where you knocked aramis out, you might not even know about the time thing at all. If anyone is still reading this, I highly recommended going back to a crack in the slab and saving aramis, as it completely changes the present half of the level and makes for a really cool discovery that most people would never see.
@FarhadHakimov2 жыл бұрын
Hey man, you now explained Deathloop in-lore! That is, why do people have powers similar to Billie's and the same mana meter, since the Outsider is gone - that kind of power wasn't tied to him.
@Midnight-wh2bs2 жыл бұрын
Just to let you know, it is actually confirmed that Billie keeps her eye and arm, and the powers conferred by them, after the events of Death of the Outsider. There are novels for Dishonored and some of them take place after the events of this game/DLC and in them Billie still has these limbs and powers.
@Midnight-wh2bs2 жыл бұрын
@@FarhadHakimov If I recall correctly that topic is also touched on in some of the novels that take place after Death of the Outsider. I forget the details as it has been a while and I only ever read summaries, but apparently after the Outsider is "killed" a lot of Void based anomalies and rifts begin appearing within the world, which becomes an alternate source of Void powers now that the Outsider isn't around to give easy access through his mark.

@ReleaseZeKrakken3 ай бұрын
And iirc it's usually included when purchasing Dishonored 2.
@superpigeon152 жыл бұрын
Regarding the DLC feeling it has, It was made as DLC, but they made it a stand alone thing because they didn't want to lock it behind owning the second game. As DLC I think it's great, but yeah, looking at it as if it where a stand alone thing, it's under whelming. Looking at it as Dishonored 2's version of Brigmore Witches or Knife of Dunwall, just without Hafting to own the base game is the best way to look at it I think.
@Modie2 жыл бұрын
It's as if that's why the prize was significantly lower than the base game. I never understand why people just ignore the pricing when rating games. It's as if this one should be an important factor as well. Only compare games that are in the same prize category. Sound simple enough, doesn't it? Even weirder that for some reason, some people like to include studio size into their rating but never the actual prize. Like why? For me as a consumer the studio size shouldn't matter. If the smaller studio results in a smaller prize for the game (which would make sense) then yeah, I can see this argument. But the argument is always made without looking at the pricing of the game.

honestly i love these kinds of games like dishonored or undertale where they give a kind of pacifist approach and actually give consequences for just attacking and killing everything, it helps break the repetative gameplay of "go here and kill everything you see as you complete these objectives"
@fischyfischy75322 жыл бұрын
tbh for me it doesnt break repetative because instead of kill all it becomes choke all objective wich is slighltly harder to do at the beginning of the game but after a few missions you can often abuse stuff like time stop to clear whole rooms

I hate these types of games because they punish you for using the lethal options which usually have more variety and are more fun to play with. @jackofastora89622 жыл бұрын
@@cakewolf44Dishonored doesn’t punish you, it simply displays the consequences of your actions, just like undertale does. You can kill every single person in a mission and still have low chaos if you don’t do the same in other missions

I loved this series. Good work on the achievements. This game was actually DLC, but they released it as a stand-alone so people can play it without having Dishonored 2 installed. It's supposedly the same engine as Dishonored 2 with minor tweaks. I don't think it should be judged as a stand-alone when it was only released this way to make it easily accessible to players. Anyway, while the other games had way more depth and stuff to do, as a player who only bothered with the high chaos kill everything playthrough, this game was great. The rock monsters at the end are a real challenge and I had a lot of fun trying to kill every single one (that should have been an achievement as it takes a lot of planning to lure them away from their big groups). I felt that the last mission in the game more than made up for the rest as Dishonored was lacking in boss enemies (clockwork soldiers don't count as you can't really fight them 1v1 and instead have to attacked from afar or you have to use weird tricks on them). The powers you get were just bad though. You're in rampage killer mode and you get a weird vision mode, a copy face ability and a mine that doesn't kill people? Nah mate, give me Death Storm (kill everything on screen while doing some sort of quick time event (like Daud when he wakes up)). It's a shame that this was an afterthought more than a real fleshed out experience (I think a way smaller team worked on this and they got time crunched at the end; I think the game even got delayed a bit)
@1timemelody12 жыл бұрын

Did a playthrough of this game recently and fun fact, you can get the perfect crime achievement even if you drop the vault down into the sewers. The bankers and guards will wake up if you open a cash register to close to them, but it doesn't wake them up if you drop a steel cage 2 stories through the floor into the sewers. And i have to agree that this game feels more like a DLC than its own dishonored title, almost like they wanted to try out some new features and ideas as a DLC but then made it a standalone title instead, its especially strange with the lack of a chaos system which helped make the previous games unique by having your choices affect the world, which is a shame because if they had made this a fully fleshed out title it feels like it had great potential for a new dishonored game.

Today I finished all achievements for the series. DotO is definitely simpler and has a lot of reused areas but I actually liked how the mana system on this one works. D1 Trials were an absolute pain though. Few tips for anyone else doing them. For Hooked put the mine on lethal and chuck it on the tall pillar at the left of the fisherman. For The Perfect Crime do it on your first playthrough as in Original Game + it's much harder to get past the wall of light although doable. IF you are doing it on OG+ you need to use either a **charged** hagfish pearl on the button for the room on the left or a stun arrow, normal one will wake up the guy that's in the room. To get a line of sight for the button get on the balcony and blink from the right side of the room all the way around the vault lift, good luck.

The thing about displace is that it is supposed to work differently and give you more interesting options. Which is hard to get if you come from the other games and think this is the "blink" mechanic. The interesting thing about displace is that you can set the double and then teleport there whenever you want. Furthermore, the other ability (I think is called insight) actually allows you to place these displace doubles. So I think what they were going for was that you use the insight to scout the area, set the markers and then use the fact that you can use displace at any moment to teleport to difficult to reach places without having to be very accurate (especially getting on ledges was always a bit weird and this basically removed the problem). Also, these rock things are actually really easy to kill once you know their weakness (similar to clockwork soldiers, where you just need to get rid of the head and they are not a threat anymore). You can use the displace ability to teleport inside one of them by abusing their patrol paths (similar as you did in the beginning to get the achievement). While this hurts you a bit, it immediately brings them down to their knees and you can just kill them. After figuring that out, it made the level so much easier. And I also think it counts as not being seen (or having killed). I don't really get your point that you would be happier about it being DLC instead of a stand alone game. I mean, the game wasn't full price, it was at most half if not third if I remember correctly. So it doesn't matter if it's classified as DLC or not. You should compare it to other games or content in that prize category. I never understood why pricing seems to be forgotten when talking about quality of games. For some reason, people use the size of studios to adjust their ratings but never the actual prize of the game for the consumer. Which I always found weird and backwards and feels more like people being tricked into believing marketing slang.
@NoESanity Жыл бұрын
i think part of it came from him buying them so long after release. right now Dishonored is $2, Defentive edition is $4, Dishonored 2 is $6 and Death of the outsider is $6 off sale, 1 is $10, 1DE is $20, 2 is $30 and death of the outsider is $30. so while the games were released with dishonored 2 being a full $60 and Death being $30, because death hasn't actually dropped in price it is currently the most expensive of the games. Also the dishonored 2 + death of the outsider bundle is literally just called Death of the Outsider deluxe, meaning while you could but 1, all it's DLC and 2 for less than $50 Death of the outsider deluxe is $60, and if you don't know that the deluxe bundle includes D2, which why would you assume that, you can see how outrageous it looks for a 6yo DLC to cost more than the entire rest of the franchise combined

I’ve been working my way (slowly) through prey, so I’m excited to see you cover that one XD Somehow it’s hard to find a concise video covering a base explanation of all achievements, let alone an entertaining one

Yeah, those issues at the end are basically because it is standalone dlc

Might I reccomend InFamous for this series? It'd be a bit of a grind but the game is well worth a playthrough and it doesn't get enough love imo.

Deathloop is in the same universe as Dishonored but in the future, it's fun game you should try it.

I'd love to see the yakuza games show up in this series. Should be a fun time, if moderately tedious at parts.

Void strike launches the target in the direction of the sword slash. That direction is determined by the direction you are moving when you charge the attack stationary and forward both launch upward.
