Hey Spiff, I noticed you were asking about the runic glyphs. While it's "technically" true that it said skandenafian birsarkr, it doesn't actually say a whole lot of anything. There are two different set of glyphs, the old runic and the Scandinavian runic. The person has used both sets to write the words, which is like using Old English mixed with contemporary English, so it's pretty much just nonsense. Uppsala University has a page about runic writing (runskrift) in which you can see and learn the runes of the two sets if you're interested, though it doesn't really give much information about the language itself, let alone the grammar and glossary. Hope you find this informative.
@loke6664 Жыл бұрын
There are even more runes then that and the Saxons used them as well. The 3 famous are the old Futhark which seems to be several hundred years older then we thought when you wrote this, there was a study published this week that dated a runestone in Norway to around 2000 years old which is 225 years before we thought they existed and they probably are slightly older unless we by a miracle found the first stone ever and it had the perfect situation so it could be dated as well. The old runic system basically have 24 different runes but a couple of runemasters used a numbered code that look a bit more like Ogham. There there is the "new" Futhark from around 900 CE with 16 runes. The third famous one is the Hälsinge runes that probably came into use in the 1600s, they are also 16 but they are a lot faster to make with less lines and wiggly stuff, they were used by Swedish peasants long into the 1900 century since they are a lot easier to learn then the alphabet and made to be carved on wood (you really don't want to carve letters like O or Q on wood with a knife, it is far more work). There are also a bunch of other variationslike one from Gotland around 1100 - 1400 CE. The Saxons used a variation of the old futhark, it was slightly different. We did believe runes were invented in Denmark around 225 CE but maybe that is wrong. Snorri claimed they came from the Black sea area but there is no actual evidence for that at all. The problem we have is while we imagine runes on runestones those were rather rare, most things were written on wood followed by bones and horn and almost all of that material is gone since long ago. It is very possible runes were used for 100 years on wood before anyone started to make the first runestones and it is very hard to date a stone unless you find it in the ground on it's original placement so you can carbon date then context or find something organic under it (or clay fragment or in best case a coin). But yeah, middle English came with the Saxons who initially at least used runes, old English is closer to Cornish then actual English and a different sub species of languages so runes do have a connection with England. They are still 99.9% a Scandinavian invention but they did have far more widely use since particularly the new futhark was really easy to learn, you can basically learn to read them (very slowly) in just a day if you study them. Heck, I think we Scandinavians should go back to them, imagine a keyboard with just 16 letters on it and no need to hold in shift to change to large letters either. You could probably write twice as fast that way and with runes it is fine to write either direction so you could switch after each line making it faster to read as well. Of course there is some learning curve but imagine all the junk we could sell to tourists as well.

Sir George Pearce did have a point though, think of all the hats you could make with emu feathers.... That is really a large part of his motivation besides getting re-elected of course. Poor Sir George didn't get either but he didn't have a mini-gun and a couple of uranium auto cannons. To be fair is any animal in manhunt mode dangerous, one of my soldiers in Marine armor had to go into the tank for 6 days to to manhunting hamsters. I just saw the one the autocannon blew to pieces so I just continued as usual and was focusing on a building project and nearly lost one of my better warriors to 3 hamsters. This was just after i had massacred those bug loving old cryo people in a cave with a single bruise on one of my soldiers and the loss of the 2 uranium auto cannons, a few silly hamster did way more damage since I wasn't prepared. With a bit of tactics and providing you aren't surprised and got a couple of at least heavy SMGs, those emus are toast. With a well prepared defense they wont get even that far, Spiffs classic maze traps (those he makes in most of this type of games) can be made rather early. killing off almost anything before you can even see them.

There is another better reason to drink your Yorkshire gold from loose leaves instead of tea bags. Tea's natural enemy (besides coffee of course and maybe Boston) is Oxygen. When tea is in contact with oxygen it ages very fast and start to loose taste. Now Lipton seals their terrible tea bags individually in plastic wraps but with Yorkshire you just get a cardboard box filled with loose teabags, The shape is better then Lipton's (not to mention the taste but not even Spiff can go through 160 tea bags in a couple of days so they will start to loose taste quickly. Then again, you could just do like me and have the bags stored in something that doesn't let air circulate, I found a giant glass bottle for pickling on something really cheap and stuff them all in there. Of course if you just leave the bag with loose tea open the same thing will happen but I think most people actually have boxes in glass, metal plastic made to store tea they pour it into, Man, I hate Lipton but it is free at work and I do enjoy getting tea for free...

Regarding the idea to give a trader a lot of chickens inside a maze to stop them from leaving. It doesn't work the chickens will all walkout on their own for the AI. It's just your colonists who need to round them all up

I’m almost an hour into the video and I’ve been waiting for someone to name the chicks either Moto Moto Miyamoto, 6 Piece, 8 Piece (if you’re a capitalistic butcher), Ronald, Mc D’s, Cluckshire, Caesar Sa-Ladd, Smol Grill, Nugshire, Liz of KFC (Kingdom For Chickens)

Mango, the Landshark thing is a reference to The Click's channel, he has a thing for landsharks and made a plushy he calls Mango

But also Landshark was a regular skit done by Saturday Night Live in the mid 80s. In the Time Before the Internet Existed.

@@Chris_Sizemore i don't doubt it, but in this instance, its a reference to The Click. if the skit also had a landshark call Mango then this must be where he got the idea.
