yes unfortunately in the 80s mainly, for some reason the US govt allowed private companies to make a prison and be paid a tax give out per prisoner held, not only that but then allow them to profit in other ways as well which is completely ridiculous, essentially its the same problem that the Media has here, where they are paid a tax grant to run the business and pay employees to be a Public News Source, but then they are allowed to get money through advertisers and other means, which is actually the opposite of how it was setup and supposed to work, i have no idea why they let this happen or why we the people allow it to keep happening.
@criticalthinking11444 жыл бұрын
this is where we are supposed to keep govt and public services separate from business, which is a big part of capitalism cuz govt should only regulate and put restrictions on business to make sure all big and small business works on equal fields, and public service businesses run with the money they get from taxes and it pays everyone but theres no "profit" to be made, if there was it would just go right back to the tax pool the citizens pay for said services. (whats supposed to be the Federal Reserve but thats an already completely F'd system now lol) but now they just take in as many people as possible to gain as much tax grant money as possible while milking any other system as well, like food, rehab programs etc. just like the main stream media say F facts, lets do the bad or racially charged stories that get ppl angry, now that capitalism and the democracy has already been broken since the 70s-80s mainly theres no direct method for the ppl to impact those systems. so come on america lol, lets start thinking and stop acting like things are out of our control, especially when we like to act like we get to choose things and our country is a solid reflection of our people cuz of voting, so we need to remember how these systems were supposed to work and keep the country an accurate representation of its population, then we will finally see how they are now broken and need to be fixed / adjusted, before it ends up socialism.
@Dorkeydaze4 жыл бұрын
The current US prison system is a lot like the former Roman way of collecting taxes: they (Rome and america) sale the rights to a pacific job (for Rome collecting taxes and for the US selling the right of imprisonment) and then collecting the proceeds.

This makes me think of privatised prisons... money made from people's incarceration. Prison is for punishment but most importantly reformation and rehabilitation. Being offered therapy, anger management, mental health services and education can help an individual much, much more than being stuck in a small box for a couple years

I love this game. It has inspired me to play the pirate mods for Civ5 and 6. Pirates don't produce anything in these games but rum. They didn't build the pyramids they stole them. Don't ask how, just know that if you give them enough rum, they will get the job done. They don't have pirate workers, they stole workers to work for them, mostly to make rum.
