Jim came up to my pod at magic con Vegas on the last day of the last hour and asked us who has done the coolest play of the game so far. I explained that I attempted to win the game last turn by casting a turn 4 peer into the abyss into an Exsanguinate with my Rowan deck he seemed he was on a time crunch and handed me a secret lair. Moments before the transaction the player across from me at the table said he had a Rowan deck and really wanted the full art version of the card. I told him that I had one and just gave it to him and he asked if I wanted something in return and I replied with “don’t worry about it, I enjoy always helping people out. Besides I’m sure it will come around soon enough.” Que Jim. It was much appreciated and definitely one of the moments I won’t forget going to this magic con.

I’m new to cedh. I like it wayyy better. Casual commander gets a lot of salty people when you play the game. People have many different expectations of gameplay. But in cedh everyone has the same goals and it is much smoother and more fun imo. Plus I’m a competitive person so I dig it

There's a lot of formats where overpowered creatures really mess with the format but it feels like cEDH just gets more cool and interactive the more op creatures they print like Bowmasters

@@mikep5330 For commander, you are only able to use cards that have pips in rules text that are a part of your commander colour identity. (not including reminder text, you can use extort cards in mono white or black) Overgrown Tomb has a black pip in the rules text, therefore cannot be used in a Naya deck.

It's absolutely legal. Lands have no color so you can run off-color fetches. If I'm getting r/whooshed, well played.

It's color identity, not color. Swamps have an implied {B} in their text box, so their color identity is black in addition to whatever else @@brandoncreek5709. Also, this is cEDH, and so even if it was legal, it would still be even worse than a basic forest.

@@brandoncreek5709 Lands are colorless, but have color identity. Overgrown tomb has the color identity of black due to the black mana symbol being used in its rules text. Fetch lands have a colorless color identity because they don't use any pips in their rules text, so while you are correct that you can run off color fetches, you cannot run off color shocks

Generally yeah -- with the notable exception of decks that utilize Polymorph effects (Some Malcolm decks use it to polymorph into Glint-Horn Buccanneer, as an example). If you're optimizing and budgetless, most of the time you can't afford to ignore it.

Maybe im missing something but Najeela could win in min 15 if he searched Derevi. He had 4 attackers and the ETB of Derevi to tap or untap a permanent, so he only had to attack Jerry tapping his elf or untap a land and activate Najeela to infinit combats.

@@TheSpikeFeeders Had lethal on the previous turn already. Could have either tap the dork for the swing with 5 or untap a land. Even without Derevi ETB it's still a kill since 5 attacks (token from attack) with 1 blocked just means you pay 1 mana for an another combat and will have 5 attackers in that combat. You don't need 5 attackers to go infinite, you can just pay the difference of untaps and Najeela activation with mana to get the ball rolling :p

Man, this game is kinda emblematic for why I want Thoracle banned. Tons of back and forth, commanders doing cool things, swings in the game, and it all just comes to a screeching halt when someone plays the same old boring 2-card combo that's been seen over and over again. It's such a letdown that doesn't really feel exciting or have anything to do with the actual gameplan of the decks (no offense meant to Aaron of course, who is a consummate professional). Ban Thoracle, win doing cool stuff again!

Sadly Jeremy played this entire game extremly pooly. I mean seriously he fed the bowmasters very unnesseary at 2 points and even if you want to defend this, the entire gameplan of "oh I will need 3 turns setup for the most obvious kiki combo attempt" that loses to the onboard Deathrite shaman is honestly a joke. He had zero need to discard that kiki in the first place. Always puts a damper on a video if 1 player is basically a bot and he did it to himself. Btw nice Overgrown Tomb in the Naya deck :D :D
