The Spinoff

3 жыл бұрын

The pou is the central column within a wharenui or meeting house, seen as the heart of the building around which everything unfolds. John Scott’s use of pou in his modernist designs helped bring two architectural worlds together.

A true inspiration - An especially should be to the uninspired glass-towers in NZ's main urban areas today.

They're not supposed to be "inspired" they're supposed to fit a lot of floor space onto a small amount of land. You architecture enthusiasts would prefer massive urban sprawl and low density cities where everyone has to drive everywhere

@Oliver, sorry but no-where did I suggest I disagree with density. Architecture, of which I am an enthusiast, can help do this so it works. You also clearly have no idea that what, say Auckland is today is top-shelf sprawl & it's glassy towers are largely officeblocks & the destination of many of them car drivers you so despise. I wonder if you live in an apartment???

Architecture needs to be decolonized. The world would be a much better place if that ever happens.
