Car Camo Stealth Camping

I found a spot along the side of the highway that was perfect to pull the SUV in for a night of secret camping. I covered the car with hunter's camo cloth and it blended in wonderfully. It was a bit of a noisy campsite, but I got used to it. Camped out in the car I couldn't hear too much traffic.

I think there's a problem somewhere with the KZbin processing. I have got some comments about audio not lining up, but on all the computers here the audio lines up and the original file I uploaded is ok for audio. It seems that not everyone is having the problem. My friend said he had that before and it cleared up but it was a bit of a mystery. I am working on this but hoping it resolves without having to take this down and re-upload it. Cheers everyone and sorry for the audio issues!

When I was growing up in the 70’s, our family vacations were usually camping. Before we left a campsite, our dad would have my siblings & me police the area. We picked up so many cigarette butts ( parents didn’t smoke) and pull tabs from beer cans. Dad always wanted to leave a campsite cleaner than we found it

I have been watching this channel, Steve, for years. I have been in hopes of going back out into nature and camping more like I used to have as a kid. Only recently have I been able to get enough money to buy the proper gear in order to do so safely. This channel was the first to spark that joy back up and I have taken a 8 mile hike last week in the smokey mountains. I don't regret it and I am thankful that I had found Steve with his random camping videos. I tend to do more hiking in the future with my dog Willow.

Quick tip from someone who has spent a lot of time hiding vehicles with camonets in the military. 1. You need to break up the silhouette of the vehicle. 2. Hide all reflective surfaces of the vehicle. Those are the main things that give you away but there is a lot more to it.

I made magetized window covers and my own Butterfly poles out of 1" square tubing though because well if you know you know........

I'm always really amused at how casually you drop in that Bears, Cougars, Wolves or whatever other wildlife which would happily eat you, live in the area. Being Scottish the worst thing which might be in the vicinity of a wild camp is a fox. I honestly can't imagine casually heading out for a camping trip and having even a slim chance of encountering a Bear. Me 'camping' in Canada would consist of booking into a fairly nice Hotel and making a pillow/duvet fort under a table... I'm not quite sure it would have the same impact...

Naw, they would more happily avoid you. There are better tasting and less dangerous things to eat. I have camped in the boonies where there was sign of such wildlife or even a sighting. Food locked away, hopefully in a smell proof locker, no stumbling around in the dark and having a weapon in camp. They understand the smell of gunpowder and cleaning oil. He was hardly at risk shut inside a car anyway.

Some magnets would make quick work of hanging the camo netting on the car. I’ve used them for years to tarp my windshields against ice or cover a truck full of things I can’t unload right away. Thanks for having the fun for the rest of us!
