What strikes me is how Gil & Kelly raised such wonderful loving children, children who love their grandparents & love on them and visit them and really care for them. Nice to give support to Mama Jane. They are blessed grandparents to have these 19 grandchildren & their spouses.💞❤️

Tears flowing from my eyes after watching this week because I understand how Carlin feels when you have a dear loved one with alzheimers. All you can do is just soak up every moment and reflect on every memory of them and be there in the moment. Prayers for papa bill and your family. ❤

Same, instantly bawling when I see Carlin crying over them. Makes me think of my own Grandma who is 93 and showing signs of it. And how I have moved away from her and lived my life and she’s loved it for me too but then it kills me when she asks me when I’m moving back. I cry just like that after most phone calls or FaceTimes

You had me sobbing. My mom had dementia. It is not easy to have a parent or grandparent not really know who you are. It's the kind of pain you really can never find words for. If you pay attention to the small details though you will see that deep down they still do remember. They just can't access it that well anymore. I remember visiting with my mom, and she sat with me thinking I was an old friend whose name she did not know and she used to tell me all about her talented daughter. She even embellished my accomplishments. Somewhere in there she knew. Your grandpa does too. A couple of days before her death, my mom and I had a unusually long conversation where she became lucid. Knew who I was one last time. Said she loved me. I have that now. It means everything.

If you watch the very early Bates episodes, there were episodes of them being there as children. It's heartwarming to see it come full circle bringing their own children there. I really hope they can keep that property in the family for many more generations. It looks absolutely stunning and has so many memories. It's not something you see very often anymore in this country, sadly.

Their legacy & how your dad was raised has contributed to your Mom & Dad raised all of you kids! You have such an amazing loving family!!! I can relate to a grandparent not knowing remembering or realizing who you are because of a mental impairment. I encourage ya’ll (your immediate family, and the entire Bates clan) to spend as much time as possible with your grandparents you never know when Jesus will call them home. Treasure every single minute that you have with the Great Grandparents and your Parents. My Grandparents are long gone, but I still have treasured memories and my kids (who are grown and have kids of their own) still remember my Grandpa. Time is so sacred when it comes to family and it is so so sweet to see you and Carlin as well as Lawson and Tiffany treasure these days spent with them as well. So many young people your age don't have the time to spend w/Grandparents or even their parents anymore b/c their lives are wrapped up in their kids. It's sad. There is a lot to be said for families. Days gone by, families lived close together and took care of each other, learned from each other and loved one another so deeply. Sometimes I long for those days. Your sweet babies are so cute and just so love the farm. Great to see! Oh Carlin, my heart goes out to you. I know exactly what is going on with you. Evan, you are the best husband ever. I know you would have turned that car around if Carlin wanted you to. So so precious.

Carlin, visit often and love them as hard as you can sweetheart. I know all too well what you're feeling. My grandparents house was always my feel good runaway place. My granddaddy lived with Alzheimer's for 13 years before it finally took him from us. I was newly married, in nursing school, hadn't been able to go spend time with him and my nana for a couple months and felt so much greif and resent. I don't think I ever cried harder than I did at his funeral. Now I'm watching my daddy start down the same road and I didn't think anything could hurt more. You are giving your papa, your grandma, Layla and Zade such a precious gift by going down there regularly. If you can get a weekend alone with them- just you and a few of your siblings- I think you would be in absolute heaven. Your tears leaving and looking back at pictures of the kids with your papa are pure and sweet. He does know you sweetheart, and sharing your babies with him is one of the best gifts you can ever give him and both kids. It is a love they will never forget. Let your heart stay tender and your eyes and faith remain with faith like a child. Evan, thank you for loving all of them and knowing what a special time this is.

I'm weeping now.. Carlin, I feel in part the place your heart is at. It's such a mix of everything- and wanting to preciously treasure every single moment not knowing how much longer you will have and also knowing that you will NEVER regret the time, finances, and energy to be there! I feel it so deeply with you! You want to treasure each moment but you also almost feel that you're losing that moment as well. ...two of my brothers passed away 3 weeks apart in June 2023. The one was my closest sibling and passed of cancer at 33yrs old. Every time I left the hospital to fly back home I didn't know if I'd see him again this side of eternity... it all goes so deep. You are LOVED!!❤

It’s sooo hard because you see the person you love and they don’t see or recognize you. I thought that he looked like he was in a far away land a couple of times. So be there for Mama Jane because she needs ALL the love and support you can give her. It was so nice of you, Evan, Layla and Zade to see them, and also that Lawson and Tiffany were there too. I just wanted to reach in and give Carlin a long hug. Just lost my mom in December and my dad in 2009. Memories are what you will have forever. ❤

I just cried my eyes out right along with you, Carlin.😢 Grandparents are so special & those memories stay with you forever! I was 41 when I had my first & only daughter, & I am so thankful that my baby girl got 3 years to spend with my grandma before she passed 3 years ago. Even though she was so young she still remembers her & talks about her.

Oh my goodness Carlin!!! You had me in tears for you … I get it … it’s heartbreaking when a grandparent & in my case a parent no longer remembers you … but you had the best time being able to take your babies and make memories with them @ the farm… hugs to you !

Oh Carlin 😢As a grandmother myself, I saw me in your video. I pray that I have instilled in my two girls the importance of family and what it means to gather. When my time here on earth is gone I want them to remember the good times and best memories of being with family. To this day, I remember what I did visiting my parents/in-laws in our early married years. God Bless you and continue to visit your grandparents as much as you can. Many hugs your way. 🤗❤

It seems like the days and weeks go fast but the months and years fly by. So sweet how important it is for you to take the time to visit your grandparents. The memories and love you shared on the farm throughout the years was such a gift. Your kids were lucky to have a small bit of what you experienced. How beautiful to see the kids interact with Jane and papa Bill. Zade and Layla were adorable making the cow noises. Carlin you have such a lovely soul which brought you tears for those you love.

My best friend was and is my great grandma. She had plenty of grandkids, but she and I had a special connection. I adored her, and she me. Eventually I moved away. My small hometown had little to offer a young adult, and my young adult life needed to be lived. She told me to go and live a great big life. I know she 100% meant it, but I know she also wished for me to stay, but she would never hold me back. I came home as much as I could to see her. The last visit, well, we both somehow knew it would be our last goodbye. She wasn’t sick, but we both knew that this was our last time together on this earth. I cried watching Carlin wrestle with this complexity of this giant in her life slipping away from her. It’s crushing and there just is no stopping it. Endure the best you can.

It is so hard to see your grandparents get older and sometimes forget you. The one thing he will never forget is the love he feels and Jesus. Just hold on to the memories. ❤❤

Spend as much time as you can with the grands. I lost my grandma, my world, to dementia a few years ago. It hurts when they don’t know us but we know them and that’s what’s important, the memories your kids will remember. Much love to you Carlin ❤

Oh Carlin! I can totally relate. My grandpa is 93 and he doesn't remember much. Cherish these times. As my grandma aged she said she enjoyed the smaller groups where she could really visit with us rather than the larger groups. Take lots of pictures!

Wow, that was a very beautiful and memorable video. Seriously cried with you at the end. My grandpa had alzheimers and didn't remember our names but He kept His faith and always talked about the Lord... that was the beautiful and blessed part. 🙏❤️ He left a legacy behind.
