I looks great 😍. It's a lil short but I have about 3 short lolita dresses and 3 lolita mini skirts that I wear all the time. This dress reminds me of baby the stars shine bright. 💙💙💙💙💙

You have the same body type as me! This is the first video of yours I've seen and I want to get into lolita. Seeing a video with my body type, and handmade, and from a bedsheet... My disabled, poor self is thrilled. Tysm

I'm seeing my first JSK right now and I need help!!!! I don't understand how the back of the skirt expands with the shirred bodice back panel without all the waist/gathering stitches popping and ripping. Do you stretch the panel while you stitch the skirt and bodice backs together?
@teatime40614 жыл бұрын
Any time you sew something onto something that is scrunched up like that, you need to stretch it all the way out while stitching. Think of it like trying to make something waterproof...you need to make sure all of the area is secured tightly..no gaps! Using sewing pins really helps for this btw as you only have to stretch sections at a time :)

You said this one took a month, does it usually take that long?
@TheStitchess5 жыл бұрын
Nah, it usually takes me a week to finish a project but this one had a lot of details and I had trouble sourcing fabric.

i'd love to see more lolita from you, its a good look on you (and also i just started wearing lolita despite being into it in HS). This is a very cute old school lolita look you dont see a lot of dresses like this much anymore, it reminds me of early BTTSB!

How did you learn to sew so well? I have a machine but get so confused even with the most simple patterns. Do you recommend I go to college for it?
@TheStitchess4 жыл бұрын
Practice lots, read lots, and just generally do the thing as often as you can 🤷♀️ I went to college for costume design and being in an academic setting did help to break me of some bad habits I had formed without realizing it - but I wouldn’t say it’s necessary. Sewing is one of those things you just learn by doing rather than studying but the studying does help. You can usually find a lot of books about sewing techniques just by hitting up the local thrift store a few times a month. (Which is also a good place to buy neat bedsheets to practice with)
@leebradley5345 жыл бұрын

Making me look at all these loose topsheets being like "hMMMMMMmmmmm" because guess who's deciding she needs to learn how to sew this quarantine and isn't sure she's got fabric that'll work for a lolita dress....but I do have old bedsheets I could practice with!
