Pandemonium can be used as a good comparison piece to Chaos. Each one is the theme for the flesh prison bosses for the secret boss level of the two acts. The whole point of the flesh Prison, and it's follow-up the flesh Panopticon, is that they are organic machines made of both divine and hell energy that has no consciousness and acts purely on instinct to prevent the imprisoned Prime Soul from being released. By comparison to Chaos, Pandemonium is slightly more structured and held together, just as the panopticon is compared to the prison (until sisyphus just busts himself out of it but that's not important right now)

The ULTRAKILL soundtrack is so full of amazing stuff, you could probably make two more videos like this one, maybe even three, without any drop in the intensity and power these songs possess. For specific requests, Altars of Apostasy + Halls of Sacrilegious Remains is one I'd love to hear since you liked Castle Vein so much. Other than that, there's also the two songs that the main themes of Order and War bortow motifs from, which are Requiem and Sands of Tide, and I'd love to hear you listen to how those motifs are in the original songs and deconstruct how they sound compared to the boss versions and how different they feel. There's also Death Odyssey because its just a fucking banger of a song. Finally, you could make one video covering all of Gabriel's themes, which are Bach 18: I Call to You, Lord Jesus Christ (you don't have to listen to that one if you already know it), Divine Intervention, Fallen Angel, and The Death of God's Will. Those should be listened to all in a row IMO. As a bonus, if you get the OST via Bandcamp, you can read developer commentary from the game's composer regarding almost every song on the OST (the songs for the prime sanctums were released for free and so don't have commentary, but all others have a paragraph or more written about how they were made).

I doubt you will ever read this, but I would highly suggest checking out Meganeko's Moonlight sonata 3rd movement cover. They are the same band who did Cybergrind for this game. It is honestly such a fun cover that mixes together so many different styles into such an iconic classic song. One of my absolute favorites of theirs, right up there with their song space magic.

That Adagio for Strings fact is actually really interesting because thats exactly what Sisyphus is. He knows he cant win, he knows he can't beat V1 yet hes embraced the struggle and doesnt "regret a second of it".

if you do more ultrakill tracks, I recommend "Divine Intervention" and "The Death of God's Will". Also, your analysis of WAR was pretty spot on to me, or your read on the vibes it gives off, due to the character that it plays for. Very good video. :]

I've commented this on a previous video, I'm sure, but I think you might enjoy some pieces of Armored Core music. It's a less popular series than most, but with the announcement of 6, interest in the series is definitely picking up. I'd specifically recommend listening to "Remember" from For Answer and its remix, "Mechanized Memories" from Verdict Day.

I would recommend checking out Ultrakill OST Versus and Duel side by side. Versus plays during a bossfight with a certain robot, that represents a better version of you, but if you beat it, you meet it down the line again, wanting revenge. Thats where Duel comes in. The songs are the same, but different, and I think it would be fun to compare the two, from the point of how they change and what they represent. And also, they are absolute bangers of battle music. Also, if you make the video in the future and wanted to add one more song to the list, I would humbly suggest Castle Vein. It's a great baroque-rock-style song.

One really amazing track in the soundtrack is Deep Blue. Super unique instrumentation and pace in comparisson to a lot of the tracks that were previously made for the game. Honestly I hope you do a "discog dive" similar to Pizza Tower after it blew up because this soundtrack rivals it in quality and it consistently pulls out bangers and unique sounds to the video game landscape.

It's interesting what you brought up in the Adagio for Strings segment, especially as an emotional comparison because its very apt for Sisyphus's story. In the lore he was punished by being given an impossible task to complete by Heaven in order to break his will, which was to roll a boulder up a hill for eternity. But Sisyphus never broke, he just kept doing this task while waiting for the day when he can strike back against his oppressors. After God disappeared and sent Heaven into total chaos Sisyphus lead an insurrection against Heaven. He knew full well that it was impossible to win a war against Heaven but did it anyways because to him the act of resistance itself, despite the odds of success, was the ultimate form of rebellion. I just love Sisyphus and Minos, both of their stories are just tragic and I can't wait to see who we get for Act 3.

ULTRAKILL SPOILERS AHEAD: That "Wibbly-wobbly" end at the end of pandemonium was for a very good reason. It represents the complete change of pace in your fight ingame: Instead of killing the flesh panopticon through traditional means, you simply wake up Sisyphus and he (in the most literal sense) breaks out. Tearing it to pieces from the inside out. The prison wasn't containing him, simply... "Homing" him. That end of the music represents this in the players incredible confusion as they see the healthbar sink to nothing.
@chittasticchitta1164 Жыл бұрын
That part is such a cool design choice on hakitas part. The despair I felt upon realizing panopticon has double the health of flesh. Only for all of that health to disintegrate . It makes for such a good buildup to daddy sisyphus

Kinda sounds like the Panopticon is screaming in pain, too. The slowdown as Sisyphus' fist reaches through. This is the Panopticon feeling the impact. Followed by the screeching panic and pain in the speedup/pitch up, and the eventual encroaching of death in the second slowdown. It's as if the music itself was being emitted from the big cube of shmeat

To hear your reaction to some of Chris Christodoulou's works from the video game Risk of Rain 2 would be fantastic! Risk of Rain 2 has a slew of relaxing, cinematic, and powerful songs that seem to be inspired by prog rock and electronic music from the 70s. Some great ones to check out are: - …con lentitud poderosa - The Rain Formerly Known as Purple - You're Gonna Need a Bigger Ukulele

If I were to recommend another group of Ultrakill songs, that would have to be Chord of the Crooked Saints, Altars of Apostasy, Fallen Angel, and The Death of God's Will. Chord of the Crooked Saints is the PERFECT song to build up what comes after it (Altars of Apostasy), and Fallen Angel is the same for "The Death of God's Will". Ultrakill is just really good at having songs that make others more impactful, and I think these two are the shining examples.
