I've been using it for a year and a half with my function band, and it has a great tone in every venue we play. I particularly like slightly overdriven sounds. They sound so natural and are very dynamic, very inspiring to play. Not to mention the unit is compact, much smaller than my old gt-10 that I used for years prior. In the review from Anderton’s, they mentioned that there was no 5150 model. Listening to this review, I’m not missing it. It’s 16 February, 2024 as I comment, and I might grab one of these today. If I do, i’m just stoked to try my hand at emulating the mid-boosted, compressed electric guitar tone created by Tom Scholz of Boston in the late 70s. I’ve been using a different Japanese-manufactured stomp box to get that tone (the Goat Generator from Rancher). I like it, but it’s a little bit “out of control” (white noise if you lower your guitar volume like Tom Scholz, Brian May and Terry Kath for cleaning up, and it is occasionally too trebly). Also taking into account that it’s got an external expression pedal input, it would also be neat to make an attempt at emulating a different Boston device, the Hyperspace pedal. That particular device involves controlling an echoplex’ feedback and delay time in realtime.
