There is no such thing as "the greater good", only the will of the force in Star Wars. The sith claim that power is a means to an end and therefore all their atrocities are justified. Even in real life it leads to a slippery slope trying to do things for the "greater good" instead of just the good

Light Sith do not use the dark side. Otherwise, they're just normal Sith. Light Sith are adherents of the Sith teachings that rejected the dark side of the Force in favor of the light. Nonetheless, these Sith retained their devotion to the Sith as an organization. As for the greater good, that is very subjective from person to person and time period to time period. Darth Marr, before his death, was full blown dark side yet was very rational Sith that didn't let his emotions control him, instead using them as a tool. He did what he thought was for the greater good of them empire. He was just a Sith.

It depends on the author, but Lucas himself is extremely blunt about the 'Dark side' being basically just evil under all circumstances. It is corrupting and wrong, and much like the One Ring in Lord of the Rings, using it with good intent is just a foolish way for the victim to be corrupted and changed the same as any other user is. The Light Side is the actual, only true way and that's the end of it. At the moment the issue hasn't been definitively dealt with in canon, but it's not particularly likely that Star Wars, with such a distinct Light/Dark divide baked in to the settings' space magic, would actually allow for a 'good' Dark Side user to exist for long without becoming like all the other Dark Side users....it is, after all, explicitly powered by hatred and malice.

Dark Jedi are underrated. Ventress, Savage, and Kylo Ren as well as Inquisitors are all prominent examples.

Kylo was not disciplined enough to be a jedi and not strong enough to be a sith. I guess by default that makes him a dark jedi, however, considering his main purpose is to take his shirt off, it would be unfair to call him a failure. Disney galaxy really needs a vong attack...they're uniformly untested and underleveled.

You missed a very important part of the First Schism. Their were multiple groups that broke off from the Jedi Order. The Dark Jedi, The Gray Jedi and numerous others. Who the Galaxy forgot about.

Thank you, been looking forward to this. I like the idea of Fan Fiction of Maul being Dark Jedi, Ahsoka being Grey Jedi starting a twin order on Dathomir. That way they can use both kinds of Holocrons. Use both sides to learn and defend each other while training with and protection with Mandolorians and Bounty Hunters. Talk about Steel sharpen Steel.

This was George, and later KK, being particularly Lazy with the Lore. Maul and Savage really shouldn't fall into this Category, and Ventress Shouldn't Either. She was a Sith Assassin like Maul and Savage, and Lucasfilm was at their most Idiotic when they made this Canon to Both Continuities.

Why the Sith despise Dark Jedi? They basically saw them as poor version of themselves with little ambition or vision, only thinking of their pettiness or spites, whereas the Sith were all beyond with having much grander goals, seeing Dark Jedi as little more than petty Children with a limited lust power, whereas Sith want to go beyond the limit.

Dark Jedi and Sith Assassin and Acolyte are often the same thing. Ventress is a former Sith Assassin, but she is often classify as Dark Jedi, on the other hands, Jedi who fall to the Dark side is also a Dark Jedi.

I generally thought a Dark Jedi was a Jedi who turned to the Dark Side and that would include Sith who were Jedi once. So Darth Vader and Count Dooku are Dark Jedi while Palpatine and Darth Maul are not.

He is a jedi but his lightsaber combat style is pretty much fueled by the enjoyment of combat and the intensity and dare i say anger but without giving into it, it's called Vapaad. It also is extremely effective when facing any dark side user because it turns all their negative emotions and dark side power onto the dark sider that is how Mace beat Palpatine in Revenge of The Sith. So yea in a way that is why his lightsaber is purple. (Hope that helps)

The Sith are correct. To master the Force, one must understand it; Dark Jedi lack the discipline to immerse themselves fully within its mysteries and often seek petty short term gains over ultimate power. That being said, it seems odd to me to claim Darth Maul as a Dark Jedi. Maul was never a part of the Jedi Order, nor did he base his approach to the Force on anything resembling the disciplines and philosophies of the Jedi (compare him to Count Dooku, who as a fallen Jedi retained the discipline and self control instilled in him by his training). Maul seems rather more like a failed Sith than a Jedi of any sort - cut off from his lineage and forced to hide in the shadows rather than take his master’s place. The phrase should be reserved for those who either directly came from the Jedi Order, or for their acolytes - at least, until the rogue Jedi form an order of their own.

Maul is a sith, not a dark Jedi. Even in legends he wouldn't qualify. Rule of two or not he was outright raised a sith. He might be classed as a "light sith" like we see in the old republic.

What is the difference between Grey Jedi and Dark Jedi? The Dark Jedi seem to be more Sith like and are mostly self serving. Grey Jedi seem to be more open minded and are often not as evil at heart, as well as having arguably the best understanding of the force and how to balance light and dark.

I don't think one can be aptly named a Dark Jedi if one has never been a Jedi to begin with. If one has never been trained (even briefly) as a Jedi or a Sith, one could for exemple be called a Dark Side user or a Darksider maybe. For this reason, I can't get behind you when you site Maul and Opress as exemples of Dark Jedi. Ventress yes, on the other hand, as she was at least a Jedi Padawan when she started to fall to the Dark Side.

The Rule of Two Sith, the Old Republic Sith Empire, both would never be what they were were it not for the Dark Jedi from the Second Great Schism. The Dark Jedi from that time line sort of got the ball rolling for the Sith, now the Dark Jedi of later eras were nothing but children playing with toys compared to their ancient Dark Jedi predecessors.
